Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”I’m not good at drinking, let’s forget about it.” Yan Huan didn’t want to drink with Qiu Xinyi; she felt that Qiu Xinyi wasn’t the kind of person who couldn’t move on without being forgiven by others.

Moreover, Qiu Xinyi’s attitude tonight was very strange.

Even though Yan Huan didn’t know why it was so strange.

”Drink! Are you afraid of her?” Tan Xiaomei egged on, not liking Qiu Xinyi’s arrogant attitude, always acting as if she was superior.

”Drink! Yan Huan, don’t chicken out!”

”Come on, come on! Use this chance to reconcile!”

Urged by her comrades, Yan Huan reached for the beer bottle on the table, opened the cap with a bottle opener, and lifted it up, saying, ”Qiu Xinyi, come, let’s do one! Just this one!”

Seeing Yan Huan agree, Qiu Xinyi also raised her bottle: ”Come!”

Although Yan Huan wasn’t good at drinking, when she actually drank she wasn’t shy about it. She was never the kind of person to be hesitant. Her carefree and straightforward nature was vividly expressed when drinking.

A bottle of beer was not too big a quantity. The two women faced each other, tilted their heads back, and drank it in one go. Yan Huan put down the bottle, feeling her stomach was fully bloated.

”Good job!”

”Wow! You two are really not letting the men take the lead!”

Qiu Xinyi smirked and looked provocatively at Yan Huan: ”Your drinking capacity is bigger than I thought! Fancy another round?”

”No, Qiu Xinyi, I’ve given you enough respect.” Yan Huan felt she had done right by Qiu Xinyi. Based on her previous temperament, she would never have drunk with her rival.

Today she made an exception.

After all, Qiu Xinyi’s departure was due to the transfer order she had Qin Jian issue. She had never done anything behind someone’s back in her life, but this time she would stop at nothing for her own happiness and for Ji Chuan.

She knew Qiu Xinyi held a grudge over this.

Tomorrow Qiu Xinyi would leave, with a grudge in her heart, pretending to reconcile, behaving oddly. Yan Huan could see it clearly, she could totally ignore Qiu Xinyi, but since Qiu Xinyi was leaving because of her, Yan Huan didn’t want her leaving with a belly full of resentment.

Even though, behind Yan Huan’s back, Qiu Xinyi always went to entangle Ji Chuan, causing them some trouble.

Qiu Xinyi smiled: ”Alright, then forget it. But today is my farewell party and also your celebration party, you can’t refuse a drink, I toast you one!”

Yan Huan could see that Qiu Xinyi wanted to get her drunk today.

With Ji Chuan still at home, she couldn’t drink too much, so she repeatedly declined.

Seeing Yan Huan unwilling to drink with her anymore, Qiu Xinyi instigated their comrades, urging everyone to toast Yan Huan. Her words were skillful, making anyone feel as if not toasting Yan Huan would seem envious or as if they had issues with her.

The whole department, one cup after another, passing around the drinks, and Yan Huan ended up drunk.

Her eyelids grew heavier and heavier, her mind more and more foggy, but she kept thinking of Ji Chuan, refusing to succumb.

Seeing Yan Huan’s tipsy state, Qiu Xinyi felt satisfied.

Her goal was achieved.

...............

In the evening, Nancheng’s sky was heavily overcast, and after a rumble of thunder rolled by, there was a gale storm.

Qingmei and Ji Shuanglin got off the train with their luggage, standing at the train station entrance in the lightning storm waiting for Yan Huan. Fortunately, the storm had cooled the air, making it less muggy.
