Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

When Commander Qiu saw his daughter’s bruised and swollen face, a dull pain struck his heart. The daughter he had cherished for so many years was beaten until she was unrecognizable.

What father wouldn’t feel heartache!

Qiu Xinyi noticed the flash of pain in her father’s eyes and felt uncomfortable as well. She pretended to be at ease to comfort him, ”It’s nothing. Dad, I just accidentally hit a pillar; I didn’t expect it to swell...”

Before she could finish speaking, Commander Qiu suddenly raised his hand and slapped her across the face.

The man’s palm was thick and powerful. Even though he controlled his strength, he still made Qiu Xinyi stagger. She wobbled unsteadily for a few steps before falling to the ground.

Her body hit the hard floor with a dull thud.

”Dad!” Qiu Xinyi propped herself up from the ground, holding her painfully slapped face with tears welling in her eyes. Astonishment, pain, and even a hint of anger mixed in her gaze as she looked at Commander Qiu, ”Why did you hit me?”

Suppressing the pain in his heart, Commander Qiu looked at his daughter with a stern face and said, ”You don’t know why I hit you? Tell me, how did you get those injuries on your face?”

”I was beaten! Your daughter was bullied! Look at me, being beaten into a pig’s head, and not only do you not feel heartache, you even hit me! Dad, don’t you feel heartache? If Mom knew from the Nine Springs, wouldn’t she feel heartache?” Qiu Xinyi finally exploded, crying hysterically.

Humiliation! Humiliation! Still, humiliation!

This feeling was like a rope tightly wrapped around her heart, causing her pain and anger, yet unable to vent.

”Shut up!” Commander Qiu yelled angrily, trembling as he pointed his finger at Qiu Xinyi’s nose, ”Don’t mention your mom! I’ve spoiled you too much over the years. Made you so arrogant, made you forget about shame! Tell me, what have you done? Yan’s Deputy Commander’s wife even called my office!!”

”Yan Huan’s mom?” Qiu Xinyi was stunned, her mouth agape, unable to speak for a long time.

Such a cunning move! Unexpectedly, she complained in front of my father, something she hadn’t anticipated.

”Yes! After hearing it, I wish I could dig a hole to hide myself!” Commander Qiu was heartbroken at the mention of it.

Despite not wanting to acknowledge it, it was a fact.

He happened to come to Nancheng to inspect work today, and in the evening he went to the regiment where Qiu Xinyi was stationed to see her, only to find she was not there.

So, he chatted with Qiu Xinyi’s regiment leader.

Soon into their conversation about Qiu Xinyi’s transfer order, a call came in unexpectedly, a call meant for him.

And it was to complain.

The complainer was the wife of the retired Deputy Commander Yan.

She told him everything his daughter had done, enumerating one thing after another. When he heard what his daughter had done tonight, he was so ashamed he wanted to bury his face underground.

Qiu Songyan, since you can’t discipline your own daughter, I disciplined her for you. Feng Yuzhi said. I really don’t understand how you gave birth to such a daughter.

Instead of living a good life, she went to destroy others’ happiness. I feel sad and ashamed to have raised such a daughter for you.

Feng Yuzhi’s words were heavy, each like a knife stabbing into Qiu Songyan’s heart.
