Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Feng Yuzhi said, I’m begging you, is that okay? My daughter is over thirty, and it’s been tough for her to find someone she loves. She just wants to live peacefully. Could you please do me a favor and stop your daughter from disrupting their relationship?

After listening, Qiu Songyan immediately assured Feng Yuzhi that he would discipline his daughter well and never allow her to disturb Ji Chuan and Yan Huan again.

Feng Yuzhi said she believed him. If he couldn’t do it, she would help.

Qiu Songyan repeatedly assured her that such a situation would never happen. She could rest easy! He apologized to Feng Yuzhi over and over again.

When he returned home and saw his daughter Qiu Xinyi looking disheveled, he felt both heartache and anger, and these emotions intertwined, leading him to hit his daughter.

That slap was meant to wake her up.

”Dad, I just really like Ji Chuan. I couldn’t help it and lost my mind for a moment! That’s why I made the wrong decision!” Qiu Xinyi said tearfully, choking up, ”Can you help me get back at them?”

”You fool! You really don’t know how to repent! Ji Chuan doesn’t like you; he’s getting married! You need to snap out of it!” Commander Qiu roared furiously, ”Forget about him! Focus on your work from now on, and I’ll find you a good match for marriage.”

”Dad, have you ever heard the saying, ’Beyond Mount Wu, there are no clouds’?”

”All I know is that my daughter Qiu Songyan did something disgraceful, despicable, even contemptible, and yet she’s still oblivious and unrepentant!”

”Dad!”

”Stop talking!” Qiu Songyan clutched his chest, gasping several times, and with the help of the sofa armrest, slowly sat down. After calming down for a few seconds, he said, ”You don’t need to report tomorrow. I’ve already decided on a new place for you.”

”What?” Qiu Xinyi thought she heard wrong.

”I’ve chosen a place for you, on Beilu Mountain, there’s a platoon there. Whether as a sanitation officer or a cook, you could also guard the sentry post,” Qiu Songyan said.

”Beilu Mountain...” Qiu Xinyi muttered, her mind unable to process it immediately.

”Our border defense group, Gate 8 Sentry Post—Xueyan Mountain Sentry Post,” Commander Qiu said.

”No! I’m not going! Dad, how can you do this to me!!” Qiu Xinyi cried out in shock, ”Dad, I’m your only daughter, how can you be so heartless.”

Heartless enough to send her to a place even ghosts avoid.

Xueyan Mountain Sentry Post, where snow accumulates all year round, it’s an icy wasteland, several thousand kilometers away from Nancheng. The distance is one thing, but the place is sparsely populated, supplies are scarce, and transportation is extremely underdeveloped. Going there feels like being exiled to the frontier.

The conditions there are harsh, unimaginably tough for most people.

In winter, even urinating outdoors risks being frozen, and frostbite is common.

Her father actually wanted to send her there!!

”You’re a soldier, you must obey orders! I’ve spoiled you too much before, and I think it’s good for you to endure some hardship!”

”Dad—!”

”Enough said, this decision is final! Xinyi, the road is walked by people, I hope you use this opportunity to grow and train yourself well!” Qiu Songyan had already made up his mind. After speaking with Qiu Xinyi, he ended the conversation.

Qiu Songyan returned to his bedroom and closed the door. Qiu Xinyi covered her face with her hands, letting out muffled, pained cries.
