Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1446: Chapter 1446: Gotta Get It Off My Chest

Ma Mei’s instincts made her want to withdraw her hand, but the patient’s family grasped it tightly. ”Thinking of running? Let me tell you, you won’t escape this time! I will pursue your criminal responsibility.”

”Is this considered evidence?” An Hao’s gaze settled on those holding opposing views, her words tinged with a chill, ”I’ve carried this blame for long enough! Now that the patient has pointed it out, I might as well say a few more things. I really need to get this off my chest!”

”Speak, An Hao! We all support you!” Ji Chuan looked at her, his gaze brimming with firmness.

”Before entering the operating room, the patient did not know Dr. Ma! You all know the procedure of the surgery: the patient was lying on their back under general anesthesia, obviously unable to see what the doctor’s hands looked like. Post-surgery, he was wrongly disconnected from the antibiotic IV and fell into a coma. To sum it up, the only time he could have seen the scars on Dr. Ma’s hand was the moment he was about to wake up after the surgery. And he truly did!” An Hao articulated every word with conviction, her analysis coherent and to the point.

She had to defend her own rights and dignity!

”If you insist on pinning this on me, I also want to ask, whose interests did I threaten? Who is so eager to get rid of me? Or perhaps, who has taken a bribe from Ma Mei and is dead set on turning black into white?” An Hao’s words were harsh.

For a whole year, she felt extremely frustrated whenever she thought of this matter!

Now, she finally spoke out!

She was determined to stay at the affiliated hospital, not afraid of others trying to sabotage her!

That was just her stubborn nature!

Where she fell, there she would rise, and she would also cleanse herself of this disgrace!

”Well said! The facts are right in front of us now! As for who is right or wrong in this accident, I think the leaders here should have a clear idea now!” Yan Ye made his position clear. ”Having worked in this hospital for so long, I believe the leaders know what kind of people Ji Chuan and I are. Even though An Hao is my student, I stand for justice, not for personal ties. If An Hao had made a mistake today and was accused, after investigating and understanding the truth, I would not cover for her either.”

With things having come this far, what could the director say?

The truth was clear!

And Ma Mei’s complexion said it all about the situation.

But the director still asked Ma Mei to confirm what exactly had happened.

At this moment, the iron wall in Ma Mei’s heart completely collapsed in an instant.

The patient had woken up; he had clearly identified her, and now there was no use in her denying it.

It seemed, everyone already believed An Hao!

”Yes. I did indeed disconnect the wrong IV,” Ma Mei finally bowed her head and admitted her mistake. ”I had good intentions at the time, but I never expected to cause such an incident!”

After Ma Mei spoke, the ward fell into a tense silence.

Everyone’s eyes were tightly fixed on her, their expressions a complex mix of contempt, anger, and disbelief.

”So, you were afraid from the start, you knew what consequences admitting it would bring! You dared not face them, you couldn’t afford to lose, so, you framed me to take the fall for you! How cruel your thoughts are!” An Hao said angrily, gritting her teeth.
