Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1435: Chapter 1255 A New Clue Appears

An Hao had shared all the twists and turns of the story with Qin Jian, who naturally understood a lot of things by now.

He had already notified his friends in the police force, asking them to inform him immediately if they ever encountered a person named Jiu Xia.

He also wanted to help Lin Qiushu and the elderly lady.

Thus, whenever something related to the bracelet arose, he paid extra attention to it.

”I’ve never seen that bracelet. But I heard from my grandfather that it was very beautiful, bright green, almost without any impurities—an item of top quality. However, during that chaotic era, it was not easy for poor people to survive. If it weren’t for his serious illness, the bracelet wouldn’t have been pawned so easily.”

The more the man spoke, the more Qin Jian felt that what he was saying was very similar to what An Hao had told him.

”Who did you pawn it to?” he continued, following the man’s narrative.

”Initially, my grandmother wanted to pawn it to the pawnshop, but the pawnbroker, seeing her desperate need for money, pressed down the price very low. So low that it couldn’t even cover my grandfather’s medical expenses. Fortunately, a good Samaritan, a peddler who saw my grandmother’s plight, offered all the money he had for purchasing goods to buy the bracelet. That kind person saved our family.”

Later, she was able to cure her husband’s illness and safely gave birth to the child in her womb.

That was his father.

At that time, grandmother was also caring for a boy, who was the half-brother of his father, his uncle.

Regrettably, his uncle inherited a destructive gene.

At a young age, he became deeply involved in gambling and eventually, pursued by debt collectors and unable to repay, hanged himself.

Grandmother despised him, declaring that such a child did not deserve to be her son!

Hearing this, Qin Jian was now ninety-nine percent sure that the grandmother mentioned by this man was the person Lin Qiushu was looking for.

”What is your grandmother’s name? And what’s your name?” Qin Jian asked.

”My grandmother’s name is Jiu Xia. You can call me Xiaoshan,” the man replied.

Jiu Xia!

It really was her, and she was still alive—Lin Qiushu’s family mystery might finally be unveiled.

Qin Jian thought, no matter what, he had to bring Jiu Xia back, so Lin Qiushu could understand the situation herself.

The rescue warriors arrived at the scene first.

Snowflakes were falling heavier from the sky, fluttering down and beginning to form a thin layer of snow on the ground.

An elderly lady sat on the cold ground, her hands on a cane, looking despairingly at the ruins.

”Old madam, the ground is so cold, please get up! Be careful of your health,” a young warrior said while opening the backpack he was carrying and taking out a military blanket to wrap her securely.

The old woman’s gaze then warmed a bit as she grasped the young warrior’s hand and murmured, ”You’ve come, you finally came this time, please save my daughter-in-law and great-grandson.”

”Old madam, don’t worry. We are here to rescue them,” the warrior reassured her, taking out water and food from the backpack to give to her, ”Eat something first, strengthen up.”

”Good. Good.” The old woman took the water and drank two gulps, her gaze intensively fixed on the warrior as she asked, ”How about my grandson? Where is Xiaoshan?”

”He is with our commander! Don’t worry, our commander would never abandon him.”
