Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1425: Chapter 1425: It Won’t Cost a Pound of Flesh

”Even if I say yes, what can you do about it? Would you dare not listen to your big cousin?” Li Zhi said with a smug smile on his face.

Gu Shuangshuang wanted to pull Tian Niu up but was firmly stopped by Cheng Yue and Zhang Chaoqian.

The warriors couldn’t stand it anymore and all roared together, ”Commander, with so many of us, you just give the order, and we’ll snatch our sister-in-law back, settling these three guys in minutes.”

”Sure thing!” Li Zhi said with a laugh, ”Ask your Commander Tian if he still plans to return to our fold. If he doesn’t accept this challenge now, it’ll be double in three days.”

”Let’s all do it,” Qin Jian also said. ”He only asked for a thousand push-ups, not that they must be done by Commander Tian alone.”

With that statement, all the warriors immediately dropped down and began doing push-ups in unison, counting one two three four five.

Soon, a thousand push-ups were completed.

”Consider that a pass,” Li Zhi declared and moved on to the next challenge. He took out two bottles of liquor from his bag and thumped them onto the table. ”Clear liquor, one bottle each to chug.”

This time Tian Niu had learned his lesson and asked about the third challenge before starting the second one.

”What’s the third challenge after we chug the liquor? Tell me first.”

”Call me ’brother,’” Li Zhi said, looking at him.

When he and Gu Shuangshuang had been managing things before, Tian Niu had never once called him ’brother.’

Today, he definitely had to make him say ’brother’ in front of everyone else; otherwise, Li Zhi wouldn’t feel satisfied.

He had expected Tian Niu to hesitate a long while before calling him ’brother,’ but to his surprise, Tian Niu promptly exclaimed, ”Brother!”

That certainly took Li Zhi by surprise.

”I’ve already married your sister, how could I not call you brother? What’s the big deal in calling you ’brother’? It doesn’t cost me an ounce of flesh.” Moreover, Tian Niu believed Li Zhi would rather he call him ’brother’ than have Gu Shuangshuang marry him.

”Fine, have it your way,” Li Zhi said, then opened a bottle of liquor and handed it surprisingly to Cheng Yue.

”What’s this? You’re not drinking with me?” Tian Niu asked.

”If you can drink faster than him, you win,” Li Zhi replied.

”Tian boy, you better hurry up, or we’ll really be here for ages,” the butler said, anxiously watching from the side.

Without another word, Tian Niu picked up the bottle and started chugging.

A whole jin of white liquor went down just like that.

Glancing at Cheng Yue, he had only drunk a third.

It was clear, these three were taking advantage of today to target him.

Tian Niu finished his drink and swayed a bit.

Fortunately, he had a decent tolerance, not so bad as to fall down and embarrass himself.

”Enough from you three,” Gu Shuangshuang couldn’t stand it any longer, angrily pushed past Cheng Yue and Zhang Chaoqian blocking her, grabbed Tian Niu’s hand and said, ”I’m going home with you.”

Tian Niu grinned, revealing a row of big white teeth, bent down, scooped Gu Shuangshuang into his arms, and strode forward confidently, ”Wife, let’s go home!”

”Wait,” Li Zhi called out to Tian Niu, quickly walking over and pulling something out of his pocket, ”a wedding gift for you.”

Gu Shuangshuang accepted the gift and thanked Li Zhi.

Li Zhi stared intently at Tian Niu, seriously said, ”Treat my sister well! Promise me you’ll cherish and protect her all your life!”
