Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1428: Chapter 1248 Execution of the Task

”Commander! What’s wrong?” Tian Niu noticed the change in Qin Jian’s face and knew that something urgent must have been in the telegram.

”The southeast of our city was hit by an earthquake, and the disaster is severe! Division headquarters sent an urgent telegram, requesting two regiments to rush to the earthquake area for disaster relief.” Qin Jian handed the telegram to Tian Niu.

”The division commander is requesting that we return immediately.” After reading it, Tian Niu said, ”Since that’s the case, I better start packing right away!”

”Good, the faster the better.” Qin Jian said.

”What? He just got married and now he has to go on a mission?” Tian Niu’s mother was not feeling great upon hearing that her son had to leave on the second day of his marriage.

”Yes! There’s been an earthquake southeast of Nancheng City, and several counties have suffered along with it, with towns and villages severely damaged! This is exactly when the people need us. Mom, don’t worry too much, just happily enjoy the joy that your daughter-in-law brings you at home.” Tian Niu briefly consoled his mother before hurrying back to pack.

”Oh, my heart aches...” Hoping for stars, hoping for the moon, she had hardly welcomed Tian Niu back, and now he had to leave on the second day of his marriage.

”Isn’t this what being a soldier is all about? Let’s go, let’s also pack some food for our son.” Tian Niu’s father said.

”Commander Qin, you all come inside too. It’s cold outside.” Tian Niu’s mother called out to them.

”Ma’am, you go inside first. I’ll just wait here. It’s no trouble!” Qin Jian declined and stood at the doorway with An Hao.

Tian Family Village is located deep in the mountains, thousands of miles away from Nancheng City.

The earthquake that occurred in Nancheng City wasn’t felt here.

But it was unclear whether the downtown area was affected, and if it was, the impact was probably not too severe, right?

Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been left unmentioned in the telegram.

Their entire corps was stationed in Nancheng, and being the closest stationed force to the earthquake zone, they would undoubtedly be among the first to arrive.

No matter what, they had to be the first to get there.

Qin Jian was deep in thought, feeling someone gripping his arm tightly. He looked down, meeting his wife’s worried eyes.

”I don’t know what the situation is in the downtown area! I don’t know how my parents and children are either.”

Qin Jian lifted his hand, pulling her into his embrace: ”Don’t worry. It wasn’t mentioned in the telegram, so there should be no major problem!”

”I hope everything at home is alright.” An Hao said anxiously.

”It will be! Don’t worry!” Qin Jian comforted, gently stroking his wife’s back.

Inside the house,

Tian Niu hurriedly began packing his belongings, stuffing them into his army green bag one by one.

Gu Shuangshuang stood by, her lips pursed tightly, her complexion looking rather upset.

Tian Niu packed quickly and looked up just in time to see Gu Shuangshuang’s displeased expression.

”What’s wrong? Are you upset?” Tian Niu asked.

”Of course.” Gu Shuangshuang replied resentfully, ”Didn’t they say it was an auspicious day? How could such an earthquake occur?”

”Yes, precisely because it was an auspicious day, you see our place is safe!”

”But because of this earthquake, you have to leave the day after we get married, and I’m really not feeling good about it. In three days, the wedding banquet can’t take place, can it?” Gu Shuangshuang felt a heaviness in her chest.

”Alright, don’t feel too bad! Think about the people suffering from the disaster, how much pain they must be enduring? We are just temporarily separated, but they are suffering from life and death separations.”
