Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1408: Chapter 1408: A Dead End

Song Yueqin had caught her breath, although she verbally expressed the desire to not live. However, when actually faced with death, she didn’t have the courage.

Thinking that a person has only one life, she suddenly felt that it was better to cling desperately to life than to give up and die.

It was like a gamble; as long as she was alive, as long as she was still in the game, there was a chance to turn the tables.

An Hao wanted to settle accounts with her, but she didn’t want to end things with An Hao yet. Currently at a disadvantage, she thought she would wait until she had the upper hand.

With so many people around, she definitely had no choice but to run.

It was better for her to leave first—where there’s life, there’s hope.

Just as Song Yueqin turned to leave, she heard the sound of police sirens at the hospital entrance. She stopped in her tracks, her face turning pale instantly.

”Do you still want to leave? Today, you’ve committed such a grave sin against my child; I’ll make sure you rot in prison,” An Hao said, her angry eyes fixed on Song Yueqin, each word deliberate.

”Don’t even think about it! I won’t let it go your way!” Song Yueqin fled towards the outside of the hospital.

She had just reached the entrance when several police officers alighted from their car.

Seeing this, she ran back inside.

”Would someone kindly help, trap her and hand her over to the police!”

Having witnessed the scene, the crowd, moved by the plea of a mother who had almost lost her child, was willing to help.

Everyone launched an attack on Song Yueqin, trapping and chasing her relentlessly.

Zhang Juyun tried to help her daughter escape by blocking others, but the power of the crowd was overwhelming, and even if Zhang Juyun grew extra arms and heads, she couldn’t stop so many people.

Song Yueqin, now cornered with nowhere to run, in desperation, ran back upstairs in the opposite direction.

After a chase, Song Yueqin was cornered by the police in the corridor of the top floor.

Ignoring her postpartum physical weakness, An Hao also reached the top floor, gasping for breath.

”Song Yueqin, you are under arrest for suspicion of intentional injury and infant theft. Just come with us peacefully!” The police flashed their badges.

”No! I won’t go with you! You can’t arrest me; I was just playing a joke that went too far,” Song Yueqin argued.

”I am not your friend! Our conflict has been long-standing and irreconcilable! We are like enemies, how can you say it was just a joke?” An Hao’s gaze was icy as she stared at her.

She wanted to tear off Song Yueqin’s deceitful face!

No, not just her face! She wanted her to rot in jail forever, never wanting her to see the light of day.

”Let’s go! If you have anything to say, talk back at the station.”

”No. Not going. You won’t take me away! Over my dead body,” Song Yueqin became agitated. She looked around and noticing a hospital room to her right, she slammed open the door and hustled inside, quickly locking it.

”Open up! Open the door! If you don’t open it, we will have to use force!” the police repeatedly warned her.

”She won’t open the door; no need for further talk,” An Hao didn’t want Song Yueqin to drag this out, and she fiercely kicked the door open.

The patients in the room, fearing they would be implicated, quickly fled.

Four or five police officers entered and cornered Song Yueqin.

”You can’t run anymore. Just surrender peacefully! It’s not too late to turn yourself in. If you stubbornly persist, you are facing a dead-end.”

”How long would I be sentenced?” Song Yueqin asked nervously.
