Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1415: Chapter 1415: A Friend of a Friend is a Friend

”Bottom of the barrel? In search of what bottom?” Yan Ye’s voice came from the doorway.

The few people in the room all turned to look outside in unison.

”It really is a case of speak of the devil and he shall appear!” Zhang Yun said with a smile, ”Xiaoye, come in quickly!”

”Auntie, I’d heard An Hao had given birth a few days ago, and I wanted to come over to see her, but I’ve been tied up with back-to-back surgeries recently and didn’t make it! It wasn’t until today that I finally found the time...” Yan Ye said apologetically as he entered.

”Your mother and Huanhuan have been here. I heard from your mother that it’s hectic at the hospital! If you’re busy, you don’t have to come, why make the trip separately?”

”It’s only proper,” Yan Ye replied with a hint of a smile, stepping forward to hand An Hao the bouquet of flowers he carried. ”Congratulations! You’ve been promoted to motherhood.”

An Hao joyfully accepted the flowers, took a deep sniff, and said with a smile, ”This is the first time I’ve ever received flowers; I’ve never felt happier.”

”If you like, I’ll tell Qin Jian to buy you some every day. His salary is pretty high now anyway,” Yan Ye joked.

”Him?” An Hao laughed, ”From now on, all his money should go towards buying baby formula; the hefty responsibility of providing for the family falls on him!”

”If you like flowers, I can buy them for you every day too. But I’m afraid Qin Jian might get so flustered he’d want to kill me...” Yan Ye took the opportunity to tease him a few times while Qin Jian was not around.

Lin Qiushu watched Yan Ye from the side. Today, she wore a navy shirt, black trousers, and her hair was neat and clean-cut, making her look crisp and composed.

Due to her grandmother’s situation, Lin Qiushu had seen Yan Ye a few times, but had never seen him smile at her.

Today, his eyes and brows were curved in a smile, which made him look much friendlier than the cold face of before. How many times friendlier was he?

Yan Ye noticed Lin Qiushu. Since he wasn’t very familiar with her, their relationship was at most that of a doctor and a patient’s family member.

Out of politeness, he nodded to Lin Qiushu.

”Dr. Yan, you’re really sparing with your words towards me.” Lin Qiushu said with a smile.

Yan Ye hadn’t expected Lin Qiushu to say something like that and was momentarily taken aback, ”Miss Lin, what do you mean?”

”No special meaning. I always thought Dr. Yan was made of ice, it turns out there’s also a gentler side,” she replied.

Yan Ye heard the implications; he didn’t expect this girl to hold a grudge.

It was the first time when in order to save Lin Qiushu’s grandmother, he had spoken harshly to her.

She really had taken it to heart.

”I can explain to Miss Lin about the emergency situation while saving your grandmother...” Yan Ye began.

”No need, no explanations required,” Lin Qiushu said cheekily, knowing how embarrassed she had been. ”I’m complimenting you! No other meaning.”

Zhang Yun watched the back and forth between the two, a faint smile spreading at the corner of her mouth: ”Alright, never mind what happened, you both are friends of An Hao. In the future, you should become friends too.”

Lin Qiushu glanced at Yan Ye and remained silent.

Instead, Yan Ye nodded emphatically and said, ”Good. I hope Miss Lin will look after me more in the future.”

”Lin Qiushu. Just call me by my name in the future. Skip the ’Miss Lin,’ it sounds distressingly formal...”

”Okay,” Yan Ye said with a slight upward curve of his lips, smiling.

Seeing the smile break out on an icy face, Lin Qiushu couldn’t help but burst into laughter herself, ”Yan Ye, since we’re friends, I’ll still need your help with my grandmother’s surgery!”
