Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1235: Chapter 1335: Can’t Go With Him

This sudden change caught Cheng Yue off guard; he had never expected Feng Yuzhi to bluntly drive him away.

Cheng Yue slowly stood up, his gaze resting on Yan Huan’s face, ”I want to hear you say it.”

”Just go. I can’t go to Jiangning,” Yan Huan said, then put down her chopsticks and turned to go upstairs.

”Our Huanhuan doesn’t have that kind of fortune,” Yan Luquan also stood up, smiling as he patted Cheng Yue on the shoulder, ”But we still make good chess friends, you’re welcome to come over often and play a couple of games with me.”

”Okay,” Cheng Yue put down his chopsticks and turned slowly to walk out. When he reached the door, he turned his head and said loudly, ”Please tell Yan Huan for me that I actually like her!”

Feng Yuzhi frowned and said, ”What’s the use of saying that after the fact? Just go, get going quickly.”

”Okay,” Cheng Yue walked slowly out of the Yan Family’s front gate.

After walking some distance, his heart full of gloom, he lifted his leg and kicked the roadside plane tree fiercely!

This damn life!

Why was his love life so full of bumps? First, he fell for a married woman, and that relationship had ended just like that. Later, he set his eyes on Yan Huan, but her family refused to let her leave Nancheng under any circumstances.

The key point was, she didn’t even think about leaving.

Didn’t she say she liked him?

If she liked him, couldn’t she understand his feelings a bit?

Since ancient times, hasn’t it always been the case that the wife follows her husband? Wherever the husband is, that’s where the wife should be.

He was an only child under his parents’ roof; it couldn’t be that right after the pain of losing a daughter, they would also have to suffer not having their only son by their side, could it?

The Yan Family already had two children, so why couldn’t Yan Huan leave for him and go to Jiangning together?

His request wasn’t excessive at all!

”You can kick a different tree, constantly kicking the same one might kill it quickly,” a voice from Yan Ye came from behind him.

Cheng Yue turned slowly, seeing Yan Ye standing right behind him, looking at him.

Cheng Yue gave a bitter smile, ”Mr. Yan, at this time, can we please not joke around?”

”Okay,” Yan Ye said with a smile, watching him, ”You’re very angry inside, aren’t you? Can’t understand why my parents are so heartless?”

”No,” Cheng Yue verbally denied, ”Uncle and Auntie have already said it’s because they can’t bear to part with their only daughter marrying far away.”

”Actually, that’s not the real reason,” Yan Ye said.

”Then what’s the real reason?” Cheng Yue wondered, ”Don’t trust me? Afraid I’ll mistreat Yan Huan if she follows me to Jiangning? Don’t worry! My parents and I would never wrong her. I’m their only son, and Yan Huan would be their only daughter-in-law. They would definitely cherish her as their own daughter.”

After saying so much in one breath, Yan Ye couldn’t help but laugh, ”You’ve thought a lot. Actually, none of these are the real reason. Knowing Yan Huan, she won’t suffer wherever she goes. It’s just that, she’s been weak and sickly from the start. When we were little, my parents took us both all over half of China, eventually settling in Nancheng. It was because, when Huanhuan was little, she contracted a very strange form of asthma that was incurable. Our family sought doctors and medicine, and when we came here, Yan Huan miraculously got better.”

”So you mean, Yan Huan can’t leave this city? That’s the reason she won’t leave with me?” Cheng Yue finally understood.
