Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1211: Chapter 1211: All Problems Point to Her

Ji Chuan found himself plunging into an icy crevasse, a chill slowly crawling up his spine and wrapping around his heart.

If it really was An Hao, her life would be over.

She hadn’t even officially become a doctor yet, and she was about to end her career.

He didn’t believe that An Hao, who was usually meticulous and conscientious in her work, would make such a low-level mistake in the operating room!

”Is there anything else, Director Ji? All other surgical details are in the operation record. You can check it.” Dr. Zhou said, confident that there wouldn’t be any problems with the surgery he conducted.

”Alright. I will. Until a final conclusion is reached on this matter, I hope the two of you keep our conversation today confidential,” Ji Chuan instructed.

”Don’t worry, we won’t,” Dr. Zhou wasn’t the type to gossip, he certainly wouldn’t.

Ma Mei certainly didn’t dare either. With her guilty conscience about the matter, she was terrified that bringing it up might expose something.

”Good,” Ji Chuan said, then immediately continued his investigation.

He checked the surgical record and the medication list, confirming that the dosage of anesthesia used was normal.

So, there was no problem with the anesthesia.

The issue must have occurred during the extubation process. Someone must have removed the wrong tube, causing the anesthetic to be delivered completely, leading to the patient’s brain damage, and leaving them in an unresponsive state, ultimately becoming a vegetative person.

Therefore, the most crucial key now was to find out who was responsible for the mix-up with the tube.

Ji Chuan called everyone involved in the surgery that day and once again inquired about the situation at the time: ”Who exactly removed the IV line during yesterday’s surgery? Dr. Zhou? Dr. Ma? Or the intern, An Hao?”

”The persons closest to the tube at that time were Dr. Ma and Dr. An... It definitely wasn’t Dr. Zhou; he seemed to be monitoring the patient’s condition... When the patient showed signs of waking up, he said it was okay just to remove the tube. But although he said this, he didn’t do it. He just kept staring intently at the patient’s face...”

”I don’t remember, I had already started to clean up the surgical tools...”

”It seemed to be Dr. An... She felt unwell, and I supported her. Afterward, she said she was fine, and I moved to ease the stiffness in my legs. I wasn’t paying attention, and by the time I looked over, Dr. An had already removed the infusion tube.”

”Right! It was Dr. An, we all saw her touching the tube.”

The answers from the three people differed slightly, but it was clear that Dr. Zhou hadn’t performed the act of removing the tube. Everyone saw An Hao make a move towards the tube, but not a single person saw her actually pull it out.

All the answers pointed to one person—An Hao!

Ji Chuan took a deep breath; the situation seemed quite dire indeed!

When Ji Chuan returned to General Surgery, the ward was already crowded with people, all listening to the agonized accusations of the patient’s family.

The hospital director stood among the crowd, patting his chest and assuring the patient, ”Please rest assured, I will definitely provide you with a satisfactory response to this matter.”

”What satisfaction can I have? I’m not satisfied at all! My father has become a vegetative person, and you expect me to be satisfied! I can’t be satisfied. Tell me which doctor did this? I have to make them pay for my father’s life.”

”We are still investigating the incident. As soon as we have the results, we will take strict measures! Rest assured, if it’s our hospital’s responsibility, we will take complete responsibility for your father,” the director promised.
