Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 998: Chapter 998: The Scene in the Dream Reappears

Half an hour later, she appeared at the hospital entrance, drenched in sweat.

An Hao parked the car aside and hurried directly to the cardiac surgery ward. She wanted to find Yan Ye to ask clearly where Qin Jian and Cheng Yu were.

”Teacher Yan! Teacher Yan!” An Hao knocked on the door, but there was no response from inside.

Her voice was loud, drawing the attention of the duty nurse, who, upon seeing An Hao knocking, told her directly, ”Professor Yan is upstairs!”

”Upstairs? Where?”

”On the rooftop!” said the nurse.

”Thank you! I’ll go find him right away!” An Hao bolted towards the rooftop without even catching her breath, and finally reached the top floor, where the wall directly facing the staircase had a floor number, twelve!

The door leading to the rooftop terrace was wide open, and the cold wind howled in, hitting An Hao, making her shiver uncontrollably.

She wrapped her coat around her more tightly, with the rooftop now right in front of her! The dream she had flashed through her mind all of a sudden!

Could this be the scene from the dream?

A sense of unease slipped through An Hao’s heart as she looked at the steps leading to the terrace, unsure whether to go up or not.

From above came Cheng Yu’s crying voice:

”I’ve been here, and I’ve seen the neurologist too! The bullet can’t be removed! They said we must be a million times careful, the slightest mishap, and I will die on the operating table! Compared to death, even living with a bullet in my brain, it’s still good. But I don’t want to... It’s too painful, I suffer from headaches every day, only when I see you... Qin Jian... do I feel that there’s still meaning in my life...”

Hearing this, An Hao stepped up without hesitation!

If this was the arrangement of fate! If it was the will of heaven, marking the end of her life’s journey, then she could not escape it.

Better to face it!

An Hao reached the top floor and was somewhat dazed by the scene in front of her.

Qin Jian stood in the center of the rooftop, with Cheng Yu clutching tightly at the collar of his military jacket. Yan Ye and Cheng Yue stood two meters away, watching the unfolding situation with tense eyes.

And Luo Gang, with the scarred face, leaned on the edge of the rooftop terrace, looking indifferent to the scene before him.

”What are you doing?” An Hao walked slowly forward, approaching the center of the rooftop.

”How did you get here?” Qin Jian looked at her, the atmosphere charged with a strange tension.

”I was worried about you! So I came to see,” An Hao said while surveying her surroundings, which seemed somewhat similar to her dream, yet also different.

”I’m fine, just stay where you are and don’t move! I have a few words to say to Cheng Yu! After that, I’ll leave!”

”Okay.” An Hao nodded.

Qin Jian looked down at Cheng Yu, who was dressed in a hospital uniform, hair disheveled by the cold wind, her face streaked with tears, clinging to an unrealistic dream despite knowing the harshness of reality.

”Cheng Yu! The things you wanted to accomplish tonight, you’ve already done them. You wanted to see me, I came; you wanted to share your feelings, I listened. Now, it’s time for me to go! Please let go! Stop these futile entanglements, there are many other things in this world worth your attention besides love.”

”None of that means anything to me! There’s no attraction, I only want to be with you... Promise me, otherwise, I will definitely not leave today, even if I have to freeze to death right here.” Cheng Yu clutched tightly onto Qin Jian’s collar, refusing to let go.
