Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 977: Chapter 977: Already Riding the Tiger, Hard to Get Off

Cheng Yu’s words were already very clear; they implied a tacit acceptance of her plagiarism.

The moment those words were uttered, Lei Linxuan felt something deep within her heart collapse, and she became speechless in front of Cheng Yu.

Lei Linxuan seemed to understand why An Hao’s attitude towards Cheng Yu had shifted, even though she did not know what had transpired between them.

However, one thing was certain, An Hao must have seen through Cheng Yu’s true colors.

”I found the thesis by accident,” Cheng Yu slowly explained to the silent Lei Linxuan, ”Giving you the thesis was purely out of sympathy for your painful struggle with writing. I just wanted to help you, nothing more. If you insist the thesis was your work, who would suspect anything? I’ve said everything I needed to say, from now on, what to do next is all up to you.”

”I... will go tell An Hao the truth.” Lei Linxuan had been raised by her parents to always be an honest person.

On this matter, she had lied twice.

The first time, she lied to everyone claiming the thesis was her own, when in fact, it was a complete one given to her by Cheng Yu.

All she did was make some corresponding modifications.

The second time, when An Hao discovered the plagiarism, she knew the answer yet stubbornly denied the allegations, insisting she had not plagiarized.

If her parents found out, it would be a tremendous shame.

Her father had lived a clean and honest life and would definitely not tolerate her behavior.

”You can go and tell An Hao the truth, but if you are found to have plagiarized, you will lose all the honors you were about to receive and those already awarded to you. You might even face punishment from the school and could possibly be expelled from the military. Before you do this foolish thing, you had better think clearly if you want to bear these consequences,” Cheng Yu finished speaking and made a gesturing motion to Lei Linxuan to leave.

Lei Linxuan knew Cheng Yu was asking her to leave, so she gritted her teeth and walked away.

Now she was really in a tough spot, caught between a rock and a hard place.

She walked out of Cheng Yu’s house feeling defeated; just as she reached the bottom of the building, she ran into Yan Ye who had just returned from outside.

”Lei Linxuan...” Yan Ye stopped in his tracks, ready to discuss the paper with her, but before he could start, she interrupted him with her rushed words.

”It’s not me! I didn’t plagiarize! Professor Yan, this has nothing to do with me.” Having said that, she ran off like she was fleeing for her life.

”Lei Linxuan!” Yan Ye called out from behind her, ”Everyone makes mistakes in life, but those who correct their errors can still be forgiven.”

Lei Linxuan’s steps faltered for a moment, then she continued to move away.

Upstairs, Cheng Yu witnessed the scene and subsequently closed her window.

Hearing the noise, Yan Ye looked up, turmoil surging in his eyes.

While Lei Linxuan was caught in her dilemma, within a single day, several pieces of good news came her way.

First, the school praised and acknowledged her, naming her one of Military Medical University’s People of the Year, and at a school seminar, she was selected to speak as an exemplary representative.

In fact, the school had also awarded her a bonus, and the cadre department had added her name to the assessment list, making it highly unlikely she would need to go through field training at the lower levels.

Talents like her were naturally meant to stay at the Military Medical Hospital!

Lei Linxuan, who had been worried about being assigned to field training since enrollment, finally had her outcome; she had bypassed the fate of going to the lower levels. If she continued to work hard, a very promising future awaited her.

At that moment, she hesitated.
