Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 969: Chapter 969: Not Nostalgic at All?

Furthermore, he did not wish to exploit his father’s authority to create a backdoor for himself.

”It’s such a pity,” Colonel Lin sighed, ”Qin Jian, don’t you have even a little place for me in your heart? Not the slightest bit of reluctance to leave me?”

He really couldn’t bear to see Qin Jian go.

Such an outstanding subordinate, leaving just like that, truly felt like a waste.

”I wouldn’t dare,” Qin Jian said earnestly, ”I’m afraid your wife would hit me.”

”You! Hahaha! You’ve learned to joke around,” Colonel Lin said with a big laugh, ”Let’s get back to the point. Although I don’t want to let you go, once the higher-ups say they want your opinion on whether you want to return to the Northern Military Region, if you do, then write your report to request the transfer now.”

Qin Jian’s brow furrowed slightly, ”Did the Commander say this?”

Colonel Lin nodded, ”He knows about Commander Ning’s illness. And he’s very clear about your family situation as well. Therefore, he wants to do Commander Ning a favor in advance.”

”By creating a backdoor for me?” Qin Jian tugged at the corner of his mouth.

”Not exactly. Even if you were to submit a report to request a transfer, he would approve it under normal circumstances,” Colonel Lin explained, ”Whether you’re in the Northern Military Region or the Northwest Military Region, you are a soldier! You both serve the country!”

”I understand.” Since the opportunity was now before him, Qin Jian no longer objected, ”I’ll write the report later.”

Colonel Lin nodded, ”Good. These things take time to process, so don’t be in a rush!”

”I know.”

”Alright! Since our time together is already so short, shouldn’t you consider treating me to a drink? To soothe my wounded heart?” Colonel Lin joked with Qin Jian.

”Colonel. Just say you’ve got your eye on my liquor,” Qin Jian replied.

”Haha! I guess so! This time might be the last,” Colonel Lin said somewhat sentimentally, ”In the future, when I bet with Old Liu, I’ll be missing a powerful bargaining chip! What a pity, such a pity!”

Meanwhile, Qin Jian had already submitted his application to the superiors, requesting a transfer back to the Northern Military Region.

Actually, the commanders of the major military regions all knew each other well.

Considering Commander Ning’s unique family situation, the Commander of the Northwest Military Region hoped that Qin Jian could return to the Northern Military Region.

Although their military region was losing an excellent Chief of Staff, for Commander Ning, it was an exceedingly important matter.

After all, transferring Qin Jian from one military region to another was a mere movement of personnel; as long as the talent shone, it would be the same anywhere.

After all, they couldn’t stray from their troops.

Qin Jian relayed this news to An Hao.

The thought that Qin Jian could return home for the New Year, and thereafter never have to leave again, made An Hao so excited she nearly took flight.

Zhang Yun even felt somewhat relieved; if not for Ning Yibin’s illness, who knows how many more years their son might have spent in another military region.

Although Ning Yibin didn’t say it out loud, his face betrayed his inner feelings.

With his spirits uplifted, his physical recovery naturally sped up.

After several more days of recuperation in the hospital, he was discharged, and An Hao could finally return to her studies and internship at the university with peace of mind.

On Monday, An Hao returned to the university with her backpack.

Having been preoccupied with her father-in-law’s health, she hadn’t been able to concentrate on her thesis.

Once Ning Yibin was discharged and her worries were eased, she remembered that her thesis should also have some results by now.

Hurrying back to her dorm, she pushed open the door and without even catching her breath fully, she asked, ”Did any mail arrive for me while I was away?”
