Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 965: Chapter 965: Envy

Seeing that An Hao had arrived home and that his favorite red braised fish was on the table, his mood lifted tremendously.

”Dad, it’s your birthday today, and I didn’t prepare a gift for you. I’m really sorry, I’ll definitely not forget next time,” An Hao said apologetically as she saw her father-in-law come home and took the initiative to critique herself.

”It’s not a big deal,” Ning Yibin said with a chuckle, sitting down, ”Having this fish is enough.”

”Then you should hurry and taste it, see how it is?” An Hao said as she quickly passed the chopsticks to his hand.

Ning Yibin tasted it and couldn’t stop praising, ”The flavor is great. It would be nice if I could eat this every day.”

”You’re really greedy,” Zhang Yun said as she came up with the cake. She glanced at the time and saw that it was already late, and then started to scold Ning Yibin, ”What are you doing, really? Didn’t I tell you before you left this morning? To come back early, and now it’s this time.”

Ning Yibin had just returned when a full table of dishes was served.

”Zhang Yun got promoted to brigade commander and insisted on having me over at his place for a couple of drinks,” he explained.

”Which Zhang Yun?”

”The one who used to be Qin Jian’s regimental commander.”

”That’s a good thing, worth celebrating.” As Zhang Yun talked about others, she began thinking of her son, ”Qin Jian isn’t young anymore, and he has been a deputy regimental commander for two years now; it’s about time for him to be promoted to regimental commander, right?”

”He has the seniority, the military achievements! But the key also lies in the arrangements made by the leadership of another military region.” Since it was another military region, he didn’t have a say in it.

”Don’t worry, Mom and Dad. Qin Jian will surely rise higher,” she reassured them. In her previous life, Qin Jian had become a division commander just before she died.

In this life, he surely can.

The butterfly effect triggered by her rebirth indeed led to many people and events differing from her previous life, but the main events, those not directly affected by her actions, were still unfolding according to their original trajectories.

”I believe my son is also a talented individual.” Ning Yibin had never doubted Qin Jian’s abilities.

”But really, drinking in the early morning. Have you given up on your heart or what?” Zhang Yun frowned and scolded him.

”I couldn’t help it, I didn’t want to drink. But you know, the Zhao family just had a grandson, and with both of them insisting, I just couldn’t refuse and went along,” he said. At work, he was the Commander, but in life, he had no airs at all.

That’s why these old subordinates often got together with him from time to time.

Although he wasn’t much of a talker, when it came to facing each of them, he was still deeply respected.

Just like the brothers Qin Jian had led back then, if it weren’t for the disbandment, they would probably still be together.

”Did you meet the Zhao family’s grandson?” Upon mentioning a child, both older folks’ eyes lit up.
