Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 978: Chapter 978 You Don’t Have the Right to Choose

She reveled in the honor that deception had brought her, while at the same time, she endured the interrogation and torment of her conscience.

Standing at the crossroads of life, Lei Linxuan hesitated...

Early winter, the first snow had arrived.

A whole week had passed since the publication of the paper; An Hao hadn’t gone to her internship, she had stayed at the school watching how the situation unfolded.

”An Hao! How can you be so patient?” Gu Shuangshuang found her in a corner of the library.

An Hao, with her cheeks in her palms, gazed out the window at the slowly drifting snowflakes in a daze.

”What’s up? Do you have something to say to me?” An Hao turned around to look at Gu Shuangshuang.

”Oh my goodness!” Gu Shuangshuang sat down opposite An Hao, her face flushed with urgency as she spoke, ”How magnanimous can you be? Haven’t you seen? Lei Linxuan is flaunting your honor everywhere, and what about you? Your hard-earned results have been plagiarized, and you remain this calm, not doing anything to stand up for yourself?”

”Of course, I won’t stay quiet.” An Hao whispered, ”I’m waiting for her to come and apologize to me! I’m waiting for her to tell the truth herself.”

”Are you dreaming? Do you have a fever?” Gu Shuangshuang reached out to feel her forehead temperature, ”You’re waiting for her to apologize to you in person? Do you think that’s possible? How many people do you think can maintain a good conscience in the face of honor? Lei Linxuan’s mind is already muddled, and you still expect her to come forward?”

”But if I speak up, I just fear that I’ll push Lei Linxuan into an abyss from which she can never return.”

”An Hao, do you have to be so kind? She is bullying you, right over your head. For so long, have you seen a trace of guilt on her face?” Her head has already been dizzy with honor; she probably wishes this matter could remain hidden forever.

”I’ll go find her.” An Hao stood up quickly, gathered her textbooks, and headed outside.

Indeed, it’s a small world when you don’t want it to be—she had just stepped out of the library when she ran into Lei Linxuan head-on.

Her steps halted abruptly, and she turned to leave.

”Stop!” An Hao yelled, stopping Lei Linxuan in her tracks, ”I’ve given you ample time to come to me, yet you haven’t. I think it’s time we talked.”

”I have nothing to discuss with you. Nor do I want to.” Lei Linxuan said.

”It’s not a matter of what you want.” An Hao furrowed her brows, her cold gaze fixing on Lin Xuan’s eyes, ”You don’t have the right to choose. You must talk to me.”

Having said that, she tightly gripped Lei Linxuan’s wrist and pulled her toward a secluded area in the Qingsong Forest inside the school.

Snowflakes drifted down from the sky, a thin layer of snow already on the ground, and the tall pines were also draped in white.

An Hao and Lei Linxuan stood in the middle, silently facing each other.

After a long time, under An Hao’s steady gaze, Lei Linxuan lowered her eyes.

”There’s no one here, you can tell me whether it was Cheng Yu or not who made you do this.”

Upon hearing Cheng Yu’s name, Lei Linxuan’s eyes suddenly widened, a wave of anguish passing over her before she regained calm, ”Don’t falsely accuse Teacher Cheng! I didn’t plagiarize your thesis; it is merely similar!”

”Touch your conscience! Do you believe the lies you’re telling?” It seems that without strong medicine, she would not admit the true facts.
