Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 973: Chapter 973: Published Ahead

”Let’s talk over dinner; come on, let’s go!” Lei Linxuan, without any explanation, pulled An Hao and headed outside. ”I know you’re upset because your paper wasn’t approved, but just like you encouraged me before, you’ve got to keep trying! An Hao, I’ve always regarded you as a role model, you can’t let this knock you down.”

Listening to Lei Linxuan’s words and seeing her completely natural expression, it was as if she didn’t feel guilty at all.

Plagiarizing someone’s paper, stealing someone else’s hard work, could it be that she didn’t feel the slightest bit ashamed?

”Fine. I’ll go eat,” An Hao’s temper flared as well.

It’s just a meal, right? She really wanted to see just how long Lei Linxuan could keep up her charade.

She wanted to tear away Lei Linxuan’s facade right in front of her roommates!!

Four people walked toward the small restaurant near the university entrance, with Zhang Juan, Lei Linxuan, and Gu Shuangshuang leading the way.

An Hao quietly followed behind, listening to the conversation of the three people in front, and her fists clenched tightly.

”Your paper has caused quite a stir now that it’s published. Everyone is talking about you,” Zhang Juan said enviously. ”I even dug up some gossip; do you want to hear it?”

”What gossip?” Lei Linxuan asked excitedly; any news at this point had to be good.

Her hard work had paid off, and even Professor Cheng had said the paper was of high quality. It had been published in a national-level journal, a feat not many students at her university could achieve.

It must be that the school had taken notice of her and wanted to give her, a student who had always been unnoticed, some recognition.

”I heard that your chances of staying at the internship hospital are pretty high.”

”Wow! That’s great; my parents will be over the moon if they find out. It looks like I need to write a letter home about this.”

”Nice! It’s like you’ve emerged from nowhere to take everyone by surprise!” Gu Shuangshuang patted Lei Linxuan on the back, impressed. ”You’re going to be our icon and celebrity.”

”Yes, yes! Thanks to An Hao’s encouragement.” Lei Linxuan turned to look at An Hao, noticing her cold expression and the flicker of anger in her eyes.

This made Lei Linxuan quite embarrassed: ”An Hao, you’re not jealous of my success, are you? My paper was published successfully, and yours wasn’t, so does that make you upset?”

”No way, right?” Zhang Juan also noticed that An Hao had been unhappy all along. ”We are all roommates, and whether it’s you or Lei Linxuan who has succeeded, I’m happy for you!”

”It’s not that. Definitely not that. An Hao isn’t the kind of person you’re talking about. There must be something else. You guys go on; I’ll ask her.” Gu Shuangshuang sent Lei Linxuan and Zhang Juan away and pulled An Hao aside to ask her, ”What’s wrong? You’re not upset because of the paper, are you?”

”That’s right. I’m upset because of this issue,” she admitted.

”Ah? An Hao, I’ve always admired and respected you. I also appreciate that you’re not easily defeated by difficulties, but today...” Gu Shuangshuang was somewhat puzzled. ”I know you’re in a bad mood, that’s for sure. I had a whole bellyful of comforting words prepared and still didn’t know how to start. I was planning to encourage you over this meal... Look at this...”

”Shuangshuang, I’m not petty, and I’m not the kind of person who can’t stand others’ success. If Lei Linxuan really did write and publish the paper on her own, I would be happy for her. But, that paper isn’t hers.” An Hao looked into Gu Shuangshuang’s eyes, her words measured and deliberate, ”That’s my paper. It was the paper I hadn’t had the chance to publish yet, and she copied it to publish it first.”
