Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 399: Chapter 399: My Sister is Not Easy to Coax

Having finished speaking, he greeted An Shuchao, ”Uncle, what brings you here? I haven’t seen you in a while, how’s your leg recovering?”

”It’s healed. Completely healed. I don’t limp anymore when I walk,” An Shuchao said, then looked at Zhang Yun and asked, ”This must be the in-law, right?”

Zhang Yun, seeing An Hao’s father and brother both so down-to-earth, and not knowing where they got the news, was very touched that they had come such a long way to see Qin Jian. She spoke with a warm tone, ”Yes, in-law, I am Qin Jian’s mom! Please, come in, it’s such a long way you’ve come.”

”It’s nothing! I heard that the kid, Qin Jian, was hospitalized. I thought I’d come to see how he’s doing. I’m relieved it’s nothing serious.”

”No worries, no worries! It’s just that I got stabbed twice while catching a thief. I’m recovering well now, so you don’t need to worry,” Qin Jian quickly explained.

”What? PLA catching a thief? Isn’t that a job for the police?” An Ping’s eyes widened in surprise.

”It’s called seeing injustice and drawing the sword to help!” Yan Huan couldn’t stand An Ping, especially the way he called her sister-in-law just now, almost making her sick.

An Ping didn’t take Yan Huan seriously, glancing at her and said, ”Eh? Who is this female soldier? Why are you so blind? My dad’s leg just healed from a break, you should quickly get up and offer him your stool.”

Hey! This little bumpkin just got here and started making arrangements!

Yan Huan didn’t want to give up her seat, but she couldn’t refuse, with Qin Jian and Zhang Yun watching; not giving up her seat would really be inappropriate.

So, although she was very unhappy inside, she put on a front, stood up, and gave her seat to An Shuchao, ”Uncle, please sit.”

”How... How can I accept this? I can stand for a while,” he demurred.

Zhang Yun said with a smile, ”Please, take a seat. You must be tired from the long trip, right?”

”Not tired, not tired,” An Shuchao shook his hand repeatedly.

Zhang Yun turned around to pour two glasses of water and handed them to An Shuchao and An Ping, ”Drink some water to quench your thirst.”

An Shuchao accepted the glass and drank. An Ping’s eyes latched onto the apple Yan Huan was almost finished peeling. Seeing her close the knife and pass the apple to Qin Jian’s side, he chuckled, put down his glass, and snatched the apple, ”I love apples. They’re so delicious.”

”Hey! That’s for Qin Jian. If you want one, take one for yourself,” Yan Huan frowned and fixed her gaze on An Ping, feeling very displeased.

”Mmm, mmm, I’ll take another once I’m done eating this one,” An Ping said, pointing at the fruit basket beside the bed after her reminder, ”Who sent this?”

”Me, what’s the problem?” Yan Huan retorted irritably.

”Heh heh! Brother-in-law, I really fancy this fruit basket! Can I take it with me when I leave?” An Ping said with a grin, ”We country folks haven’t seen much of the world.”

”Sure, take it if you like,” Qin Jian pursed his lips, a smile spilling from his eyes.

Yan Huan was fuming with anger, feeling like she could burst into flames.

Qin Jian always had a cold face, except when it came to the An Family, which she found unbearable.

Suppressing the anger in her heart, she walked to the other side of the hospital bed and whispered, ”Qin Jian, I have something to do today, so I’ll leave first. I’ll visit you another time.”

”You don’t need to come. You tend to your business,” Qin Jian replied, always indifferent in his words to her.

”Exactly, exactly! If you’re busy, just go! My uncle is here. There’s no need to come if it’s not necessary; it would upset my sister, and then my brother-in-law would feel so bad. My sister is not easy to please!” An Ping held back a stomach full of mischief, adding fuel to the fire.
