Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 388: Chapter 388: Qin Jian in Trouble

If Commander Zhang couldn’t give her an answer, then she would go looking for the Ning couple, where she was sure to find out some news.

An Hao shared her thoughts with Tian Niu and then prepared to take her leave.

Gu Shuangshuang wanted to go with her, but Tian Niu was worried about the two of them, so he accompanied them to Commander Zhang’s home.

After dropping An Hao off at the entrance of the military region’s compound, Tian Niu found it inconvenient to go in, and Gu Shuangshuang also chose not to enter.

Tian Niu simply made arrangements with Gu Shuangshuang to go back to the troops and visit the life on the base.

An Hao arrived alone at Commander Zhang’s doorstep, and before she could knock, the door opened with a click.

Commander Zhang and his wife were each carrying multiple bags, obviously preparing to go out.

Seeing An Hao standing outside, Commander Zhang was slightly taken aback but soon understood the purpose of her visit.

”Commander, sister-in-law! Are you heading out?” An Hao felt she might have come at an inconvenient time.

”Yes. An Hao, what brings you here? Come inside and sit down for a while,” Commander Zhang said.

”No, thanks.” An Hao hurriedly waved her hand to decline, ”I won’t come in. Commander Zhang, I just came to ask about something. Qin Jian hasn’t returned to the base these past few days, and I heard from Captain Tian that he was out on a mission? May I ask what mission he was sent on?”

”Well...” Commander Zhang hesitated before saying, ”This is a secret; I can’t tell you!”

”Then can you tell me if Qin Jian is safe?” An Hao took a deep breath, her eyes reddening, ”I know it’s presumptuous of me to come without notice, especially given the recent events, but I’m really worried about Qin Jian...”

”Rest assured! An Hao, your job is to attend your classes well! When Qin Jian comes back, he will naturally find you,” he assured her.

”I can’t concentrate in class at all. These days, I keep dreaming that Qin Jian is in trouble...” An Hao truly believed in a woman’s sixth sense.

Zhang Lanxiang, who was standing by, couldn’t bear it any longer and interjected, ”Old Zhang, look at An Hao, she’s about to cry. Why is your heart so hard? Can’t you just tell the child the truth?”

”What exactly happened...” Upon hearing this, An Hao’s head buzzed.

”Alright... since it’s like this, I’ll tell you...”

.........

Sitting in Commander Zhang’s car on the way to the hospital, An Hao’s head was still buzzing.

Commander Zhang’s words kept echoing in her ears.

As expected, there was a problem with Qin Jian.

He was chasing a thief and was lured into a narrow alley where he was surrounded by ten people.

One against ten, Qin Jian had no trouble at all.

The problem was that this gang of thieves, fearing Qin Jian would catch them, took a young girl hostage mid-way. If not for ensuring the young girl’s absolute safety, Qin Jian wouldn’t have been injured.

The thugs brandished a knife at the young girl’s throat, so Qin Jian gave up the idea of continuing the chase.

But the heartless criminals, unsatisfied, used the young girl as a shield and several of them attacked Qin Jian together.

He was stabbed twice, once in the abdomen and another piercing his spleen.

It was thanks to the police who arrived in time, finding Qin Jian lying in a pool of blood.

This is what got him sent to the hospital.

Qin Jian had taken down a theft gang with underworld ties and had earned commendation, but he ended up being sent to the hospital.

In that time, doctors issued two critical condition notices.

He had just gotten out of danger.

Before going into surgery, Qin Jian told the people around him not to tell Ning Yibin and An Hao about the incident.

Ning Yibin had a weak heart, and he was afraid he couldn’t withstand the shock.

And An Hao was still studying; he was concerned it would affect her studies.
