Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 367: Chapter 367: A Thorn in the Heart

A look of surprise flickered across Yan Ye’s eyes, but he still nodded, ”I am Yan Ye from the Military Medical University. I’ve heard a lot about you, Captain Qin!”

Qin Jian extended his hand toward him, ”I’m Qin Jian. It’s a pleasure to meet you. My father will need a lot of your care in the coming days.”

”Don’t mention it. Ning Bo and I grew up together; Uncle Ning is like family to me.”

”Thank you!”

The conversation between the two men, both of whom were not very talkative, was just that bland and uneventful. Soon after, Zhang Yun came over, and Yan Ye went back first.

By evening, Ning Yibin had almost passed the critical period.

The atmosphere in the ward became less tense. Bringing up the past, Zhang Yun sighed with emotion. Fortunately, heaven had returned her long-lost son.

Her son was recognized, but there was still a heap of matters to follow.

Qin Jian intended to keep this layer of relationship a secret; he wanted to climb up the ranks based on his own genuine abilities.

Zhang Yun couldn’t wait to change Qin Jian’s surname and acknowledge him as a member of the Ning Family.

But considering how difficult Qin Jian might feel caught in the middle, the couple decided to respect their son’s wishes.

According to Qin Jian, even though their days had been harsh, the Qin Family had never mistreated him. He was the eldest in the family, yet he did not receive less than his younger siblings.

Now it seemed that perhaps the Qin Family also felt guilty about this matter and had always wanted to make it up to Qin Jian.

How can anyone be devoid of feelings? Even though Ning Bo was not Zhang Yun’s son, she had raised him for so many years, and he had brought joy and laughter to their family.

The mistakes committed by adults are indeed unforgivable, but the children are innocent.

Having raised him for so many years, she felt a deep affection for Ning Bo.

Despite the joy of finding her biological son, the thought of the child who had died still left her heart uneasy.

In the end, Zhang Yun and Ning Yibin decided that although Qin Jian had been by that name for half his life and it could remain unchanged, their future grandchildren would still carry the ’Ning’ surname.

Regarding the incident that occurred thirty years ago in Li Junping’s family, she absolutely could not forgive it! She even considered taking legal action.

However, Qin Jian, as the mediator, had complex feelings.

He felt a mixture of hate, love, and pity for his foster parents; he couldn’t take a clear stance on it at the moment.

Ning Yibin had decided to let bygones be bygones and not to pursue the past.

But he would absolutely not allow Qin Jian to meddle in the affairs of the Qin Family! He would absolutely not allow Qin Jian to return to the Qin Family!

Qin Jian didn’t say anything, but this issue weighed heavily on his mind!

Looking at his biological father’s aged face and thinking about his foster family, Qin Jian sighed deeply.

He needed some time to reflect!

The knot in the hearts of the Ning couple had been mostly unraveled. After thirty years of separation, the family of three was finally reunited, and Zhang Yun’s heart was finally at ease, feeling much comforted.

That’s the nature of women; once calm, they start to worry.

”Qin Jian, you’re not getting any younger. How can the Qin Family be so irresponsible, watching you almost thirty and not married yet! Look at me and your father, we are growing old. Your father, the Commander, how much longer can he work, and I’m retired, alone at home all day. You should find a suitable person to marry, have a child, and I’ll help you look after them.”

This was also what Ning Yibin found puzzling.

Ning Bo hadn’t married because of a congenital heart disease, but why hadn’t Qin Jian, who was perfectly healthy, not married yet?
