Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 395: Chapter 395: Breaking One of Your Legs

Li Junping turned her head and glanced at her, ”You’re still growing? I think feeding you is worse than feeding pigs. Pigs will grow and provide meat for the New Year after eating, but what about you? What can you do?”

”Mom, do you have to be so mean!” Qin Feng angrily glared at Lin Junping and said, ”Do you think it’s a waste to feed me, but not a waste when Qin Jian eats? We provided for him for thirty years for nothing, and in the end, he still went back to his birth parents.”

”Shut up!” Li Junping raised her hand and slapped Qin Feng across the face, ”Can’t you see I’m not in a good mood? You just know how to make me angry.”

”That’s enough.” Qin Ru Hai finished smoking his pipe, tapped it on the stone steps, then rolled up his smoking pouch and said to Qin Feng, ”Don’t mention this matter again in the future. The past is the past, we were also to blame back then, feeling that we owed the Ning Family. But we are not heartless; your brother’s departure has left your mother and me uneasy. Don’t keep bringing up this issue to upset your mother.”

”Yes,” Lin Junping said, wiping her tears, ”I admit I had my selfish reasons with your brother. While he was here, he could bring in some decent income and benefits for our family. But I really do care for him in my heart. I loved him and saw him as my own child.”

”Enough, enough. Don’t talk to me about these things. I’m not my brother. If you want to talk, go find him. There’s a chance right in front of you, maybe if you go, he’ll be moved and forgive you,” Qin Feng said.

”What opportunity?” Li Junping asked as she lifted her apron to wipe her tears.

”I went to the city hospital today and accidentally discovered something—my brother is hospitalized,” Qin Feng said.

”What? Hospitalized? Why is he in the hospital?” Qin Ru Hai’s heart skipped a beat.

”I don’t know. I just sneaked a peek from outside and saw him lying on the hospital bed looking pretty unwell,” Qin Feng said.

”Oh my, could it be he’s fallen ill?” Li Junping said worriedly.

”Wife, let’s go to the hospital tomorrow to see Jianzi,” Qin Ru Hai said.

”Alright. I’ll buy some tasty things tomorrow, and we’ll go to the city to see Jianzi,” Li Junping said.

”Hey, save some tasty things for me,” Qin Feng couldn’t change her gluttonous ways no matter what.

”Eat, eat, eat! Why did I have to give birth to someone as hopeless as you...” Li Junping was scolding Qin Feng when suddenly, something caught in her heart, and she stopped.

She stared straight at Qin Fengfeng and asked, ”You said you went to see Qin Jian at the hospital, what were you doing at the hospital anyway?”

”No... nothing,” Qin Feng hastily denied, ”I went to see a friend at the hospital.”

”Who is your friend?” Li Junping pressed, well aware of who Qin Feng’s friends were.

”Why do you care so much? I’m already grown up, and yet you keep watching over me like I’m a thief every day. Other than being a bit lazy and gluttonous, what trouble could I possibly cause you?” Qin Feng murmured discontentedly.

”You better be right!” Li Junping knew that she had recently been quite close with Song Jincai’s daughter, and lately, she had also become friendly with Song Fei, which could be a good thing. However, she was worried that Qin Feng might get herself into trouble, turning what could be a happy event into a disaster.

”That’s exactly the case,” Qin Feng insisted.

”Fengfeng, I’m going to remind you again, it’s good that you are playing around with Song Fei. If you both take a liking to each other, I’ll arrange your marriage and pick a good day for the wedding. But there’s one thing: if you dare to sleep with that Song Fei before marriage and cause trouble that makes others laugh at us, let me tell you, Qin Feng, I will definitely break your leg. There’s no negotiation on this matter,” Lin Junping warned sternly.
