Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 397: Chapter 397: Scars That Never Heal in a Lifetime

”Yes, it was all our fault. You have no idea how, after you left last time and never sent a letter home, your dad and I couldn’t eat or sleep. I know you must blame us. But Jianzi, for all these years, we’ve treated you as our own son. And now, hearing that you were injured, your dad and I made a special trip to come and see you,” Li Junping said as she sat down next to Qin Jian, looking at his pale face, she couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed with sorrow.

”Don’t mention the past,” Qin Jian said, looking at the crying old couple and sighing, ”I’ve grown up with you since I was a child, and you’ve always treated me well, I’m fully aware of that. But, the incident thirty years ago caused a lot of harm to my birth parents, and I’m afraid they won’t forgive you so easily.”

”We know. We will definitely go and give a proper apology to the commander in the future, we truly regret it! It was indeed our fault!” Qin Ru Hai said, beating his chest.

”Jianzi, the Qin Family can’t be without you. Dad and Mom can’t be without you, I don’t ask for anything else from you, just that you don’t forget about the Qin Family, don’t forget about Mom!” Li Junping said, touching her tears.

After a few seconds of silence, Qin Jian nodded: ”Okay!”

Just then, the door was violently kicked open from outside, and Zhang Yun stood fuming at the entrance and shouted angrily, ”Okay? What’s okay! Jianzi, you are my son! If it weren’t for that incident thirty years ago, you would have grown up safely by my side! And you two, the shameless couple, feeling regret now? What were you doing back then? For over thirty years, if you had wanted to return my son, you could have found the opportunity at any time, what have you done? Now you come here, telling Qin Jian not to forget the Qin Family, he doesn’t get the final say in this matter, you have to ask me, his birth mother, whether or not I agree to this!”

Zhang Yun’s tirade left Qin Ru Hai and Li Junping speechless.

She walked in, saw the things placed on the cabinet at the head of the hospital bed, grabbed them, and stuffed them into Qin Ru Hai’s arms: ”Take them, take them! Just leave quickly! Old Ning and I have been tolerant enough, not reporting you to the police is already letting you off. Have some self-awareness and don’t push it too far! Go! Leave now!”

Seeing the situation, Qin Ru Hai sighed deeply and then pulled Li Junping to leave.

Li Junping looked at Qin Jian, then walked in front of Zhang Yun, prepared to kneel with both knees softening: ”Please! Forgive us! All we ask is for Qin Jian not to forget the Qin Family, and to visit when he can.”

Zhang Yun was quick to react, grabbing Li Junping: ”No! I cannot bear your kneeling! Do not play the martyr in front of Qin Jian! You have not only hurt him! The ones you have hurt the most are me and Old Ning! I will not forgive you! Don’t pull this act on me! You can’t force me to forgive you!”

After speaking, Zhang Yun pushed the couple outwards.

”Jianzi, take good care of yourself. We... we’re leaving!” Qin Ru Hai said, his eyes red, as he and Li Junping walked away.

Qin Jian also felt uneasy, seeing Zhang Yun secretly wiping tears on the side, he sighed lightly: ”Mom! Don’t be so angry that it affects your health. What’s done is done. The most important thing now is that I’m by your side.”

Zhang Yun dried her tears and said, ”Son, I know you are caught in the middle... but the scar in my heart has been left behind, and it is a scar that can never be healed in this lifetime!”
