Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 392: Chapter 392: The Satiated Man Doesn’t Know the Hunger of the Starving Man

Zhang Lanxiang was a warm and chatty woman. As soon as she walked in, she started teasing Qin Jian, ”Qin Jian, your little wife is really something! So affectionate and committed, plus she can do business, is well-read, and her cooking skills are beyond reproach. Such a great wife should be married off quickly!”

Qin Jian smiled awkwardly, ”Sister-in-law, do you think I don’t want to? But no matter how anxious I am, I have to wait until she turns twenty.”

”Yeah, that’s what I’m worried about too.” As soon as Zhang Yun started talking about it, she had a lot to say, ”Ning and I are so envious of those other families with their chubby grandsons! But look at An Hao, she’s still too young.”

”What’s the hurry, my son will let you hold a grandson sooner or later! No need for you to fret every day.” Ning Yibin couldn’t help but talk about his wife.

”Indeed. The chief is right! Good food is worth waiting for! Good things need to be ground out slowly!” Commander Zhang chuckled as he spoke.

Zhang Yun glared at the two men and muttered, ”I think you full-bellied men don’t understand the hunger of the starving.”

”Hahaha!” Commander Zhang couldn’t help but burst into laughter. He stole a glance at Ning Yibin and said with a smile, ”Chief, it looks like you’re still strong and vigorous! You’ve got great health.”

Ning Yibin gave Commander Zhang a stern look, ”You’ve got some nerve, even daring to tease me.”

Zhang Lanxiang joined in the laughter, ”It’s because the chief is so approachable and kind! Otherwise, with Zhang’s courage, he wouldn’t dare say such a thing, even if you beat him to death.”

”Lanxiang always knows what to say.” Zhang Yun also began to laugh.

The group chatted for a while longer, and seeing that An Hao was not coming back, Zhang Lanxiang figured An Hao might be feeling shy.

To save her from too much embarrassment, Zhang Lanxiang suggested leaving first and coming back another day to visit Qin Jian.

As she was leaving, Zhang Lanxiang pulled Zhang Yun aside and whispered, ”Sister-in-law, actually there is a way to get An Hao and Qin Jian married sooner.”

”What way?” Zhang Yun asked.

Zhang Lanxiang whispered a few words in her ear.

Zhang Yun shook her head, ”No, no, that’s not a good idea. Even if we agreed, An Hao and Qin Jian wouldn’t. The two kids really care for each other, but we can wait another year or so. An Hao just had her nineteenth birthday recently. By this time next year, she’ll be old enough to marry.”

”You’re right. Since sister-in-law doesn’t like the idea, let’s just forget it! We’ll look forward to the kid’s wedding next year.”

...........................

An Hao loitered outside for quite a while until she finally had had enough and pushed open the door to enter the ward.

Upon entering, the room was empty except for Qin Jian.

She returned the urinal to its place and went back to wash her hands.

By the time she came back, Ning Yibin and Zhang Yun had returned as well.

Seeing the slight embarrassment on An Hao’s face, Zhang Yun smiled. She walked up, took An Hao by the hand, and led her outside, ”Come, it’s almost noon. Accompany your aunt to lunch, then we’ll bring something back for these two men.”

An Hao looked at Qin Jian, and seeing him nod, she agreed.

In the future, Zhang Yun would be her mother-in-law. Building a good relationship with her future mother-in-law was her bounden duty.

”An Hao, having met you is really Qin Jian’s good fortune. Commander Zhang’s wife praised you to the skies.” Zhang Yun said with a beaming smile.
