Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1648 - 1649: Facing Obstacles

Cheng Su naturally wouldn’t miss the opportunity to tell Qi Taiguo the good news that Elder Sister was going to remarry, hoping to cheer him up a bit.

However, neither of them expected that what seemed like a straightforward matter of registration would turn into a hassle for Qi Fenglian.

The trouble was from none other than the Zhang family.

Back when Qi Fenglian married Zhang Jisheng, her household registration was moved there. During the divorce, because the children’s registration was still in the Zhang family’s books and it was troublesome, Qi Fenglian was annoyed and unsure where to move her registration, so she didn’t change it at the time.

But now she wants to remarry, and of course, she needs the household registration book. She plans to use this chance to move her registration over to Chu Changxing’s place.

That’s when the Zhang family made things difficult, saying they would cooperate only if they were paid.

You need to pay to retrieve your registration; speaking of this is truly laughable. Such greed, it’s really shameful!

Qi Fenglian was so upset that she felt chest pain right then.

Back then, Zhang Jisheng treated her like this, and now he wants money from her. What’s the logic in that? Qi Fenglian certainly wouldn’t agree, and the discussion didn’t go well, so the registration wasn’t done.

On the contrary, Chu Changxing, wanting to smoothly register with Qi Fenglian, thought it’d be easier just to pay, as he could afford it, but Qi Fenglian refused, saying she’d rather throw money into the sea than feed this group of malicious wolves.

The matter between the two stalled again.

Seeing Qi Fenglian’s hopes for remarriage were being hindered by her ex-husband’s family, Qi Father and Mother Qi were furious. Unable to contain her anger, Mother Qi directly went to the Zhang family to argue.

”It’s been years since the divorce, but you’ve never paid the agreed support. We didn’t ask your Zhang family for it either. Raising the grandson costs money, yet you haven’t contributed a penny. We’ve been subsidizing continuously, but saying nothing. You heartless people may not care for the kid, but we can’t stand by. Now that Fenglian wants to remarry, not asking anything of you but to hand over the registration book and cooperate, yet you refuse. Do you have no conscience left? Aren’t you afraid of divine retribution?” Mother Qi angrily stood at the Zhang family’s door, shouting, ”Zhang Jisheng, you’ve married and had a son, and you still humiliate our Fenglian. You’re such a bastard.”

Mother Zhang was angry too, standing defiantly: ”What grandson? You Qi family have kept the kid, and whenever we bring him over for a couple days, he cries like a ghost. Does the kid even have the Zhang surname anymore?”

”Fine, if he doesn’t have the Zhang surname, then he can have the Qi or Chu surname. This grandson won’t need your care. Bring the registration book; let’s meet at the civil affairs office and police station,” Mother Qi said.

”Oh wow, finding a sugar daddy and picking up second-hand goods; getting arrogant now,” Mother Zhang huffed. ”Bringing the registration book is fine, but there’s the matter of compensation.”

”Ugh! You still have the nerve to ask for compensation? Zhang family, my Fenglian has been like a slave to you for so many years, over what money? Zhang Jisheng, you get out here!” Mother Qi shouted.

Zhang Jisheng came out from inside, holding the registration book, saying, ”Mom, stop arguing, enough.”

Mother Zhang, seeing the registration book, immediately in a flash of speed, grabbed it and stuffed it down her pants: ”I dare you. Without money, no one’s getting this book from me!”

Mother Qi was stunned. She’s seen shameless people before, but never this shameless.

The onlookers were even more entertained, covering their mouths laughing quietly and pointing, while Zhang Jisheng blushed with embarrassment.
