Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1647 - 1648: Elder Sister Remarries

After chatting with Little Yu about the bakery’s development, it wasn’t until the afternoon was almost over that she bid farewell and left. Mother Cheng was meeting Little Yu for the first time and asked about her background. Upon learning that she was a widow and her late husband had saved Qi Taiguo, she told Cheng Su to take good care of her.

”Human relations are more important than money, and life is above all. The man has laid down his life, so even if you lose a bit financially, it’s fine. Don’t let them feel disheartened,” Mother Cheng said.

Cheng Su agreed and naturally would not refuse, only mentioning some of her difficulties. Mother Cheng sighed, ”Every family has a few troublesome relatives; ours is no exception.”

Isn’t that the truth? However, when Cheng Su brought up her idea back home, Little Yu’s two sisters-in-law spun it into who knows what.

But whatever they say, the proposal has been made. Whether to go through with it or not is up to them. Giving it away for free is out of the question. If it were your family, you wouldn’t hand over a profitable recipe for nothing, would you?

After chatting with her mom for a while, the phone rang. Cheng Su went to answer it. It was a call from her elder sister, saying she was taking two days off tomorrow to return to her hometown.

”It’s almost the New Year. What are you going back for?” Cheng Su asked, a little puzzled.

Qi Fenglian hesitated for a long time on the other end before giving the reason.

It turns out she’s preparing to register her marriage with Chu Changxing. This trip is to formally visit the future parents-in-law and notify them about their marriage registration.

”Oh my, you’re getting married?” Although Cheng Su had been mentally prepared for this, hearing it for real still made her quite happy.

”Yes, his son came back a few days ago. We’ve all met and got along quite well. His son said since we’re about the same age and it’s almost New Year, we might as well register our marriage and spend it as a family,” Qi Fenglian’s laughter came through the phone. ”With his son saying that, of course he wants to get married soon too. This year we won’t have to spend the New Year separately.”

”Sis, I really must congratulate you.” Cheng Su was sincerely happy for her and asked, ”Is his son a nice person? What do you think of him?”

”He’s an honest and filial child. He said he’s been hoping for his dad to remarry. Now, he’s a junior manager at a factory in the Special Zone and earns his own salary. He’s doing okay!” Qi Fenglian’s tone was very relaxed.

Only then did Cheng Su feel assured and said, ”Then delegate your tasks to your subordinates and head home.”

”Alright!” Qi Fenglian responded, ”After visiting mom and dad, we’ll go straight to register the marriage. At our age, it’s about making do with life. We’re not going to have a wedding. We’ll go back during New Year’s and have a family meal to celebrate our marriage.”

Cheng Su understood that many second marriages don’t get celebrated grandly. A family meal is usually enough to call it a done deal, so she wasn’t surprised.

After hanging up the phone, Mother Cheng eagerly sat down and asked, ”Is your elder sister getting remarried?”

Cheng Su smiled and said yes.

Mother Cheng exclaimed, ”That’s great news. Your elder sister has finally found happiness again. I hope heaven blesses her with a smooth and loving marriage until she grows old.”

Isn’t that the truth? It’s not easy to muster the courage to remarry. Anyone wishing her well would think the same.

”That’s wonderful. I was worried that if your elder sister didn’t find someone else, you guys would have to rely on her in the future!” Mother Cheng showed a bit of pettiness.

”Mom, she has a son!” Cheng Su said, both amused and a bit helpless.

”That’s not the same.” Mother Cheng glared at her. ”Having a man around is still better. A son has his own world.”

Cheng Su shook her head, choosing not to argue, and went back to her work.
