Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1630 - 1631: Valued

Mother Cheng and Mother Qi, the two parents-in-law, were chatting about their children, exchanging compliments. The men and Cheng Su were discussing business matters, while Jianguo and Cheng Zhi, who were about the same age, had different topics to talk about.

To facilitate conversation, the Cheng family arranged a table for Cheng Su’s side, composed of her in-laws and her own family members. Additionally, Ning Ge, as a friend, sat at this table because of Cheng Su. In fact, Cheng Su’s name card was placed at the main family’s table. She was the goddaughter of Old Master Cheng and considered an aunt, so sitting at the main table was acceptable.

However, Cheng Su was sensible enough to sit at this table under the guise of accompanying family, though she was frequently called over to talk.

The newlyweds entered, the emcee spoke about the etiquettes, played a small game, and then the parents of the Cheng and Ying families gave the opening speeches. Ying Xiaoya went down to change clothes, and the banquet officially began.

The service at the Five-star Hotel was top-notch, offering hot towels for everyone to clean their hands. For those who frequented hotels, this was routine and handled with ease.

But for Mother Cheng and Mother Qi, getting this exposure for the first time was all novel, and they secretly eyed the others as they tried to learn.

”Cheng Su has quite the demeanor.” Mother Qi noticed Cheng Su’s slow and graceful movements, exuding an indescribable elegance, and couldn’t help but comment to Mother Cheng. She wondered in her heart how a child from a rural background could appear so dignified.

Mother Cheng replied, ”You don’t know, she usually reads a lot. Perhaps she learned it from books.”

This explanation, Mother Qi accepted, or else how would Cheng Su know?

Of course, she wasn’t aware that for Cheng Su, such services were commonplace. Actually, the current service still didn’t match up to what she’d experienced in hotels in her previous life.

Nonetheless, by the standards of the time, this was already top-tier.

Shortly after the banquet began, Cheng Su was called to the main table by Old Master Cheng, supposedly to join Xiao Ya and others in toasting the guests.

Upon hearing this, Cheng Su dabbed the corner of her mouth with a napkin, handed Qi Xiaoqi over to her mom, and went to the main table herself.

Mother Qi remarked, ”The Cheng family seems to really value their daughter-in-law!”

Even in the toasting, they called her over. They genuinely treated her as one of their own!

Third Uncle Cheng said, ”Indeed, whenever I visit, they always praise Susu.”

Mother Cheng was very proud, ”This is the fortune she cultivated herself.”

Mother Qi sighed lightly.

The newlyweds and their attendants assisted in blocking drinks during toasts, to show respect to the guests. Cheng family members and Ying Jian’s parents accompanied the newlyweds in toasting the guests, making the toasting group quite formidable.

When they reached Mother Cheng’s table, naturally, there were more compliments for Cheng Su, and even Xiao Qi, who was carried around.

Cheng Su’s parents were very pleased, as was Father Qi. After all, the person being valued was their own family member; how could they not be happy?

After a round of drinks, Cheng Su’s cheeks flushed slightly. Sitting beside her, Ning Ge handed her a cup of tea, teasing, ”To those who don’t know, you’d really look like the bride, drinking like this.”

Cheng Su shot him a look, ”Xiao Ya is the bride. As her friend, I certainly have to help her block a few drinks, or how will tonight’s auspicious moments be?”

Ning Ge was stunned, smacking his lips, ”You really aren’t subtle at all.”

Cheng Su casually said, ”We’re all so familiar, no need to pretend.” She added, ”Back when we all played and joked, now Xiao Ya and I are both married women. When’s your turn? I’ll help you block drinks too!”

Ning Ge rubbed his nose, ”Eat up, eat up. The braised sea cucumber is quite good.” Afraid to provoke her, he just avoided her.
