Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1644 - 1645: Setting a Trap for the Wife

Having been married for a few years, Qi Taiguo had somewhat gotten to understand Cheng Su’s personality. For matters she had decided, nine times out of ten she wouldn’t change her mind. If she did change her mind, there must be other variables at play.

And for business matters like opening a shop, where it’s clear money can be made, she surely wouldn’t miss the opportunity.

The words of persuasion Qi Taiguo had on the tip of his tongue were swallowed back when he saw her bright, sparkling eyes.

Forget it, he thought, better not to persuade her. Besides, who knows if his own work would see changes in the future? If that day comes, how would she react? Would she be willing to let him go?

Ning Ge had already hinted his intentions to Chief Ning, and now they were just waiting for an opportunity.

Thinking of this, Qi Taiguo deliberately put on a stern face and said, ”In my opinion, you’re just going back on your word. You initially said you’d wait until the business matured before having a child, so you could spend time with the child growing up and not miss out. But now, the child is born, and you haven’t slowed down a bit!”

Cheng Su felt a bit guilty, cautiously glancing at him and said, ”Aren’t I just thinking that business opportunities are fleeting...”

Qi Taiguo snorted and said, ”Alright, I can’t convince you anyway. If my work changes like this in the future, don’t cry and don’t say no.”

Cheng Su, completely unaware this was a trap, happily clung to his arm, laughing, ”Am I that kind of person? You support me now, and I’ll definitely support you too!”

”Oh? If I get transferred all over Jiangnan, you’d support that too?” Qi Taiguo raised an eyebrow on purpose.

”Of course, but... is that even possible?” Cheng Su became alert and asked cautiously.

”Not now, but who knows what the future holds? Life always has its uncertainties!” Qi Taiguo shrugged.

Cheng Su carefully examined him, seeing nothing unusual, she said, ”Anyway, up to now, no matter how you change, you definitely won’t be exiled to the frontier!”

With Ning Ge around, Qi Taiguo was still considered part of the Ning Clan Faction, even more so now being part of the family, surely he wouldn’t end up in some bitter cold place!

”Indeed.” Qi Taiguo nodded and said, ”So now I’ll go along with you, and in the future, you’ll have to go along with me!”

Cheng Su said, ”Yeah, if you marry a chicken, follow the chicken; if you marry a dog, follow the dog. Do I even worry about you running off to the ends of the earth?”

Qi Taiguo lay down, crossing one leg over the other, continuing to dig a pit for his wife, ”Running off to the ends of the earth, that’s definitely impossible. But if there’s some big mission that takes a few months, or a transfer to somewhere else, that’s possible.”

Cheng Su also lay down, supporting her head with one hand, asking, ”Now that you mention it, how many years have you been at this military district?”

Qi Taiguo counted on his fingers and said, ”Almost ten years now!”

Cheng Su said, ”That long? For soldiers like you, it’s impossible to stay in one place until retirement, right?”

Qi Taiguo’s heart skipped a beat and he said, ”It depends on the military branch or personal capability. Some people really do stay in one place their whole life.” Seeing her thoughtful expression, he asked, ”Why, are you worried about me being transferred?”

Cheng Su glanced at him and said, ”I don’t know. A transfer should mean more opportunities, right?”

”It’s fifty-fifty. Some people, having stayed in one place for a long time, may not be willing to move. Each place is different, and going somewhere else means you have to establish yourself again, which surely requires some audacity and accomplishments!” Qi Taiguo said, ”Even in those ancient military camps, each new general faced some sort of old guard problem. Without handling it well, making big achievements is hard.”

That made sense, Cheng Su nodded and said, ”Alright, let’s not talk about it anymore, let’s sleep. Tomorrow we have to send the elders off!”

Qi Taiguo let out a sigh of relief, thinking, this trap I dug early on, if she does fall into it in the future, it won’t be too shocking, right?
