Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1607 - 1608: Clarity

The in-laws and Cheng Su’s biological father had arrived. With the matter concerning Qi Fenglian, it was Cheng Su who initiated this, and naturally, the in-laws wanted to meet too, as it concerned the latter half of Qi Fenglian’s life.

Though an honest person, Zhang Jisheng was not an honest person himself back then, but later on, what kind of trouble did he not cause?

Cheng Su called Qi Fenglian, explained the intentions, and Qi Fenglian hesitated for a long time, saying she would get back after consulting Chu Changxing.

It’s just a phone call, to meet Qi Fenglian’s family. How could Chu Changxing be unwilling? It essentially meant Qi Fenglian had accepted him. Passing the family’s test meant he might not have to spend the holidays alone this year.

So, Chu Changxing immediately agreed, ignoring the shop’s business, pulled down the shutter, went home to tidy himself up, and bought a bunch of gifts, which amused and touched Qi Fenglian.

Isn’t his emphasis on her also emphasizing himself?

Qi Fenglian would bring the children, so Cheng Su called Qi Taiguo, talked about this, and suggested he come back early, skip his shift to keep company and lend an eye.

With more people around, it couldn’t just be Mother Cheng cooking, so Cheng Su personally went to the farmers’ market to buy ingredients. He saw the cold weather and decided to make a lamb hotpot, so everyone could sit around the table for a warm meal, with the men having a few drinks.

”You go ahead, we’ll stay home and watch over Xiao Qi,” Mother Qi waved at Cheng Su and Mother Cheng.

As the mother and daughter exited, Mother Cheng couldn’t help but vent.

”Look at your mother-in-law’s demeanor...” Mother Cheng mimicked her tone, ”You go ahead, Xiao Qi is watched by us, oh my! Look at that posture, tsk tsk, like an empress dowager, and we’ve become palace maids.”

”Mom, she longed for a grandchild for so long before I gave birth. Now that there’s one, it’s only natural she’d cherish him.” Cheng Su laughed.

”This attitude, when she’s fit enough to help you with the child later, don’t let her spoil him. Many dissolute scions and little rascals are brought up by indulgent ladies!” Mother Cheng said earnestly.

Cheng Su chuckled knowingly, ”Mom, you’re laughing at yourself here. You spoil him a lot too, right? When I raise my voice at Qi Xiaoqi, you would scold me, afraid I might scare him. But when it comes to my mother-in-law, you tell her not to spoil the child?”

Mother Cheng felt her face warm up and patted Cheng Su’s shoulder, ”You little rascal! I’m doing this for the child’s sake, while you just undermine your mom, huh! Aren’t I considering he’s still young?”

Cheng Su giggled, ”I wouldn’t dare undermine you, I’m just saying. Don’t worry, with Qi Taiguo and I here, Xiao Qi won’t go down the path of a dissolute scion. We’d lose face if that happened.”

Mother Cheng thought about it, and it made sense. She couldn’t quite rely on her daughter, but her son-in-law was a soldier who always said he wanted Xiao Qi to inherit his legacy, he’s surely a stern father.

But she couldn’t help adding, ”Just make sure you can handle it well. Boys really need proper upbringing, as many wealthy families have been ruined by unfilial descendants. Now, you can only have one, and this sole child must be raised well!”

Cheng Su felt grateful toward her mother, who understood clearly, and warmly embraced Mother Cheng’s shoulder, ”Mom, there’s no more insightful grandma than you. Don’t worry, we’ve got it figured out. I’ll buy you some nice clothes in Guangcheng as a reward for you, the grandma, for your hard work over these days!”

Mother Cheng felt warmth in her heart and spat playfully at Cheng Su, ”You little rascal, always with your sweet words.”

The mother and daughter laughed and joked, heading happily to the market.
