Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1605 - 1606: Time to Make Myself Known

Qi Taiguo and Ning Ge didn’t mention what they talked about to Cheng Su; he hoped she would be happy and didn’t want her to worry too much.

But even without him saying it, Cheng Su felt something was off, especially after Ning Ge’s visit when Qi Taiguo started acting a bit strange. Since he didn’t say anything, Cheng Su didn’t ask. Both of them had their own secrets and things they didn’t want to talk about. If Qi Taiguo didn’t want to say anything, she would just pretend not to know.

The weather was getting colder, and Qi Xiaoqi was growing day by day. Compared to when he was just born, he seemed more mature—even Mother Cheng said he was more well-behaved and mature than other kids his age.

As Cheng Yaozu and Ying Xiaoya’s wedding date approached, Cheng Su took a few days off from school, packed some local Qing City specialties, and got ready to head to Guangcheng.

”Since that incident with Old Gao, the team has been much stricter, and there’s a lot to deal with now, so I can’t go with you this time!” Qi Taiguo said to Cheng Su, ”You guys be careful on the road.”

Cheng Su felt a bit regretful but understood, so she said, ”Got it, my dad will be there too, so it’s no problem!”

Last time during Little Qi’s one-month celebration, Old Master Cheng came and met Cheng Su’s parents. Since they became godparents, technically they were relatives. So when Cheng Yaozu got married, they also received an invitation.

Of course, Qi Taiguo’s parents were also invited and sent an invitation to join the wedding in Guangcheng.

However, Father Qi used Mother Qi’s poor recovery as an excuse to decline, only instructing Qi Jianguo, who was studying at a university in Guangcheng, to attend as their representative and bring a gift to the wedding.

Mother Qi was so upset by this that she couldn’t eat for a whole day.

A great opportunity to visit a big city was just turned down by the old man, how could she not be mad?

The worst part was she missed out on a chance to see her precious grandson.

”If you’re not going, I’ll go by myself.” Mother Qi said angrily as she started packing. ”They sent an invitation, what are we putting on airs for? I haven’t been that far before in my life, I want to see the world.”

”You’re just causing trouble; you can’t even walk properly. Won’t you be a laughingstock?” Father Qi huffed softly, glancing at her leg.

Mother Qi’s face changed slightly, looking at her leg; she said, ”What about my leg? Aren’t there any limping people in this world? It isn’t even congenital, it was because of a car accident. Do you mean I’ll never get better? And what’s so funny about a limp? If I stay like this for life and fear being laughed at, should I never leave the house?”

The more she spoke, the more justified she felt, and she became spirited, ”Besides, I’m not going just for the wedding. Look, the in-laws are going; if we don’t show our faces, how are we supposed to interact with the Cheng family in the future? Won’t we be compared to the in-laws?”

Father Qi scoffed lightly, ”What is there to compare? The Cheng family became godparents through their daughter. Who is closer to whom? Is that even a question? If you really want to compare, just wait to be embarrassed.”

Mother Qi was taken aback, ”But Cheng Su is our daughter-in-law, she’s part of the Qi family.”

”Wow, now you’re eager to claim she’s part of the Qi family. What did you say before? Didn’t you say she was an outsider?” Father Qi continued to tease.

”You, you old fool, are you uncomfortable unless you provoke me? Are you going or not? If not, I’ll go on my own; I’m desperate to see my grandson. The most important thing is to get familiar with him!” Mother Qi decided not to argue with him.

After thinking it over, Father Qi reluctantly agreed, and Mother Qi happily went to pack.
