Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1615 - 1616: Confidence

Cheng Yaozu brought a few people back to the house that the old man had given to Cheng Su. Cheng Su saw that everywhere in the house was clean and bright, without much dust, and even the bedding was neatly arranged, which warmed her heart.

This was also the Cheng family’s way of looking after her. Otherwise, a house like this that was hardly lived in would have been three feet deep in dust by now.

”Thank you for helping me tidy up,” Cheng Su said with a smile to Cheng Yaozu.

”Is it fun to say that? You left the key with me in the first place, and I hired someone to clean it, so I didn’t even have to tidy it up myself,” Cheng Yaozu shrugged.

Mother Qi and the others listened nearby, slightly surprised. From the sound of it, was this house actually Cheng Su’s?

”Why don’t you all take a rest for now? I’ll head back to the company first and pick up Xiao Ya,” Cheng Yaozu said, seeing the group looked travel-weary. He then considerately addressed the elders, ”Uncle and Aunt, you must be tired from the train ride too. Wash up and rest for a bit. I’ll come by in the evening to take you out for dinner. The old man said to make sure to treat you well.”

”Oh, oh, sure.”

As soon as Cheng Yaozu left, Mother Cheng eagerly asked, ”Susu, is this house really yours? How come I’ve never heard that you bought a house?”

Cheng Su explained, ”It wasn’t me who bought it. It was a gift from the old man as a recognition gift when we formed a godparent relationship.” She didn’t mention the land.

Incredible. Just by acknowledging a godparent, she received a house as a gift. How lucky is that? It’s like stepping in dog shit luck.

”A gift, huh. Wow, such a big and nice house, I wonder how much it’s worth,” Mother Cheng said, realizing it was indeed Cheng Su’s. She began opening doors to look around and couldn’t help but exclaim at how tidy everything was. This girl must have done good deeds in her past life to have such fortune.

Mother Cheng and the others were happy, and the in-laws were even happier. Though it’s their daughter-in-law’s house, she is Qi family’s daughter-in-law, after all. Such wealth would eventually benefit the Qi family’s descendants.

”Your Third Uncle seems to have bought a small house. I wonder where it is,” Father Cheng asked happily.

”His place is a bit far and quite small, but at least it’s his own. When he has money in the future, he can change to a bigger one,” Cheng Su said with a smile.

It’s only been a year, but Third Uncle Cheng has already managed to buy a house in this area, even though it’s very small, second-hand, and bought with a bank loan. Still, it’s impressive.

The maternal family is getting better and better, which naturally makes Cheng Su happy. Now, she just hopes that Cheng Zhi, following Third Uncle, can also make something of himself.

Everyone was tired. This house has three rooms, which is enough for the group. Cheng Su let them all rest, and she too needed to take a nap with Qi Xiaoqi.

Each person returned to their room and lay down. Mother Cheng, feeling both excited and happy, sighed to her husband, ”When she was born, a girl, I did have some regrets. Growing up, with that kind of temper, how could I not worry? But look now, who has better luck than her?”

”She earned it all herself. If it weren’t for her own good relations, how could it be like this? Our family is no longer as affluent as it was before; we rely on ourselves,” Father Cheng said.

”That’s true. To be honest, now when I see the in-laws, there’s no need to be ingratiating or humble. Our girl is doing well, has money, and has backing, even if she and the son-in-law part ways, I wouldn’t be worried,” Mother Cheng said. ”It’s not like before when I always felt we were reaching up to their family, always feeling lower. Now, if the mother-in-law says one wrong word, I have the confidence to talk back!”

”The big girl is settled, now we just wait to see Cheng Zhi. If he can be half as good as his sister, I can rest easy.”

Father Cheng thought the same. When the children excel, the parents have the confidence and backbone too.
