Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1641 - 1642: Interrupted at the Wrong Moment

As soon as Cheng Su came out of the room, she heard her mother-in-law’s meaningful words and couldn’t help but look at Qi Taiguo with a half-smile. That expression in her eyes was truly full of meaning.

Qi Taiguo cleared his throat, touched his nose, and said, ”How is it, alright, isn’t it?”

Before Cheng Su could reply, Mother Qi first said, ”Alright, why wouldn’t it be? This is provided by the government, the house is definitely sturdy and guaranteed, look at this brightness, way better than the old dormitory. Taiguo, is this really the house allocated to you? With your name on it?”

”Of course, the keys are already in hand, how could it be fake?” Qi Taiguo chuckled.

Mother Qi’s face instantly lit up with a smile, she clasped her hands together: ”Amitabha. The government is really generous, even distributing houses. You must serve your country with loyalty to repay the government for this reward.”

Cheng Su secretly laughed, soldiers risking their lives for the country, putting in years until reaching a certain level, getting a house as encouragement, it’s hardly a sign of being generous.

Such days will come when many government officials will be given houses too, so many people are competing fiercely to become civil servants, living off the state’s resources.

”Today is a good day, Su, go to the market and buy two pounds of lamb to make hot pot, let’s enjoy ourselves tonight.” Mother Cheng said with a smile.

Cheng Su nodded and agreed.

Having the house in hand, she was extremely happy and excited.

Mother Cheng and Mother Qi went back to the dormitory first, Cheng Su took advantage of some free time, grabbed paper and pen, and sketched a rough layout of the house to prepare for future furniture purchases.

”This size needs to be carefully measured,” Cheng Su said to Qi Taiguo, ”otherwise, if the purchased furniture doesn’t fit, it’ll be a hassle!”

”Alright, I’ll bring a measuring tape from the army and measure it again,” Qi Taiguo said, wrapping an arm around her, looking into her eyes, ”But it’s hard on you, setting everything up.”

Cheng Su smiled, ”This is my home, how could it be considered hard work? If there were more houses, I’d be delighted to work even more!”

”Don’t worry, there will be more in the future,” Qi Taiguo confidently raised his chin.

”Look at you, so cocky,” Cheng Su playfully poked him in the chest with her finger, jokingly.

Qi Taiguo took the opportunity to pull her into his embrace, feeling satisfied and happy, thinking, he earned this, and he’s capable of providing for his family.

”Whose house is this... oh, it’s Deputy Battalion Commander Qi’s...”

From the doorway, a sudden voice caused the couple to separate quickly, looking towards it, it was the family member of Battalion Commander Zhong Yinde, Big sister-in-law Zhong.

”Sister-in-law Zhong.” Cheng Su nudged Qi Taiguo, smiling brightly.

Big sister-in-law Zhong laughed cheerfully, ”Did I interrupt something?”

”Not at all, please come in!” Cheng Su stepped forward to hold her arm.

”Got a house, I just came to have a look. We’re neighbors now, I’m in 404, let’s visit each other more often!” Sister-in-law Zhong said with a laugh, while looking around their home, asking, ”How many square meters is yours? Looks similar to ours. By the way, when are you guys moving in?”

”You keep Sister-in-law Zhong company, I’ll head back to the troops first!” Qi Taiguo said to Cheng Su with a smile.

Cheng Su waved him off, and after Qi Taiguo left with a smile, she replied to Sister-in-law Zhong, ”They said 83 square meters. Just got the house, still need to fix it up, settle the furniture, hopefully move in before the New Year, what about your family...”
