Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 488: Sullivanʼs Death?

”It will be an all-out war against the aliens.”

Sullivanʼs expression turned grim. The other ministers also couldnʼt expect this movement, but if this was true, the Azilia Kingdom would be burning. After all, they had to tackle two big problems from both the inside and outside.

The war minister couldnʼt help but say, ”Mr. Sullivan. We have to rearrange the troops immediately.”

”Yeah. I think the same way.” Sullivan closed his eyes for a moment. ”There is no point in letting the people die for no reason on the front line. I believe retreating to the last line of defense is the best thing we can do right now.”

The war minister thought, ʼThe last line of defense, huh? Our country has four lines of defense, with the first one being the very front. We create these layers in order to eliminate as many aliens as possible.

ʼIn addition, if the first line of defense requires reinforcement, it will be much easier to arrange the troops. After all, the front line doesnʼt really have a teleportation circle. With such a huge risk of falling, itʼs not worth it.

ʼHowever, letting the people remain at the first line of defense is also not good since they will just become the aliensʼ prey.

ʼIf we gather all the knights and summoners from the first three defense lines in the last one, we can strengthen it and last much longer. Besides, the defensive structures are more developed there.

ʼStill, normally, we can eliminate half of the aliens coming into our territory in the first line and a bit more in the second, third, and fourth lines. If we focus everything on our last line, it means we will at least allow 40% if not 50% of the aliens to slip through.

ʼIn that case, an evacuation in the southern territories needs to be commenced. Now that I think about it, does that farmer boy actually realize this without any information?

ʼNo, wait. If we think about it, this might not be a bad idea. If we concentrate our population in the center of our kingdom, itʼs easier to feed them and arrange them.

ʼWe can employ summoners in the kingdom to periodically eliminate the aliens that have infiltrated our kingdom.

ʼIn addition, with less territory, we know where to focus the cloud-repelling device. However, this also means that we have to convince the southern lords.ʼ

Seeing the war minister deep in thought, Sullivan added, ”I donʼt think this is a bad idea, both from military and government perspectives. Besides, it will allow me to focus on one place.

”If the aliens also attack other kingdoms, they will most likely do the same thing. In the end, they donʼt really have any choice with this annoying cloud above our heads.”

The war minister let out a long sigh. ”Indeed.”

The war minister turned to Julius and fell on one knee. ”Your Majesty. I suggest we order all soldiers to fall back to the last line of our defense and strengthen that place. We have to maintain that place for as long as possible.

”There will be a lot of aliens slipping through, so if we let them build up their number there, the front line has to take on the aliens from two sides. Hence, I implore you to allow summoners to handle all those aliens. They need resources to grow, and we want stability, so itʼs a win-win situation.

”However, this also means we have to evacuate the people in the south.”

When the ministers heard it, they couldnʼt help but shout.

”What are you talking about?”

”Do you understand how hard it is going to be?”

”Evacuating the people in the south will show our weakness.”

While a lot of ministers berated him, there were some ministers who thought this was the most reasonable thing to do in this situation.

”I donʼt think itʼs a bad idea. If weʼre thinking about the possibility of an elite class alien, if not multiple of them, this plan makes sense. The possibility of the aliens having been waiting for this disaster to hit us has been brought up, so we should consider it carefully.”

”Our weakness? Other kingdoms will show the same weakness.”

”Your Majesty. We have to find out about other kingdomsʼ situations. If they are attacked at the same time with the same intensity as us, let alone the evacuation of the north, the central area of the kingdom might become a battlefield. Hence, evacuating the north should be done as quickly as possible.”

Julius considered their opinions carefully and asked, ”Do you think itʼs possible to delay it?”

”No. We donʼt have a lot of time.” The war minister shook his head.

Sullivan fell into deep thought. ”We donʼt have a lot of time, but delaying it for two or three days should be possible. We just have to gradually retreat to the last line of defense.”

Julius turned to the other ministers. ”Get all the information we need from other kingdoms. If they are attacked, we will evacuate the north and even prepare for a total evacuation of the central area. Weʼll concentrate all our resources on the north, where we will make our last stand.

”War minister. Send all of our scouts and check the possibilities of the elite class aliens being in charge of—!”

Before Julius finished his order, a soldier slammed open the door.

”Your Majesty. Your Majesty… Ha…!”

”Ei! Whatʼs going on?” Julius looked annoyed because he was about to give his order.

The soldier panted a few times and shouted, ”We have an urgent message from the Land of Death.”

”What is it?” Julius squinted his eyes.

”Why would the Land of Death… No, why would Elysion Aquamoon get involved with our kingdom?”

”What does he want?”

The ministers were confused because normally, Elysion wouldnʼt get involved in politics due to his overwhelming strength.

The soldier hesitated for a moment, which forced Julius to order, ”Say it!”

”Yes.” The soldier clenched his fists. ”He said, ʼWhen I attended that meeting, I had the opportunity to look at everyone. And among them, several of them were going to die. One of them hailed from your kingdom. That person is Sullivan Flamante. Make a correct choice if you donʼt want him to die.”
