Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 482: Melissaʼs Skill

”Hmm…” Melissa thought for a moment. ”I understand the concept. I donʼt think itʼs hard to actually make them. Should I inscribe some magic circle for the propelling as well?

”If I do this, it will last longer than the mechanical one. In addition, it will be more accurate and more efficient.”

Nathan shook his head. ”Unfortunately, the current system doesnʼt allow for the magic one.” Nathan couldnʼt see how he could modify the contract to suit this need. After all, there was one big problem.

It seemed Melissa had seen through the problem. She started drawing something. ”In that case, I will go with the mechanical one.”

”Is it hard to make? How long do you need to finish it?” Vivian asked.

”Itʼs not that hard. To be honest, the launching device is similar to the ballista, and I only need to rearrange it with something I have made before, which is not a hard thing to do.”

”No. Isnʼt that hard? You need to combine two things into one?” Vivian squinted her eyes.

”Not really. While you were asking me, I have actually finished the sketch.” Melissa showed the paper.

As she said, Melissa had finished the sketch. It was a very rough sketch, but they could understand what kind of device it was.

It was a giant vertical box that was embedded in the ground. The launcher was similar to the ballista she mentioned earlier.

”Hmm? Youʼre done?” Vivian couldnʼt believe that she was able to do it in just two minutes.

Melissa shrugged. ”Yep. Itʼs not a hard thing to do. Why do you think I have been staying near the Blacksmith Guild? Iʼm there to learn from them. Manufacturing, mechanical design, and other things.

”I need them because I need to know how to inscribe the magic circle on them, which is hard for normal blacksmiths to imagine, so I have to do it myself.

”Of course, if you think the design is flawed, go to the Blacksmith Guild and have them check it.

”This is the shooting device I have in mind. And if you look at the side here, you will see a rod with a few slots.

”I had seen the demonstration earlier. I saw that the velocity was important. If it flew too fast, it would pass the cloud before the activation sequence was completed. If it flew too slowly, it would fall first.

”It should be not too fast and not too high. Hence, I plan to create several levels for the altitude, which are also directly linked with the speed.

”In addition, if this device is going to be mass-produced, you donʼt know whether it will be used in the flatland or on the mountain. Both of them have different elevations, meaning the distance between them and the cloud is different.

”By allowing them to adjust it manually, we donʼt have to create a specific machine for them. Of course, we will need a dummy ʼarrowʼ for them to check the altitude and speed.

”In addition, I will have to change the tip after I get the basic design from you. It needs to match the arrowʼs shape after all.

”The design itself is pretty simple, so it shouldnʼt be hard to mass-produce this device. And since itʼs so simple, the future change will be easier, especially for turning it into a magic device.”

Nathan was shocked. Melissa meant business. She had great insight and observation skills, allowing her to finish the concept design in just two minutes.

All the flaws and problems Nathan could think of had been answered by her design and explanation as well.

It was so perfect to the point where he just wanted to do it right away.

She even considered the blacksmiths.

It was no wonder why she had two professorship titles and was close to getting the third one.

Nathan glanced at Vivian, asking, ”Is this enough, Master?”

”Yeah.” Vivian nodded. ”Where are the blacksmiths?”

”They might take longer since the guild leader is coming personally.”

”You manage to invite that paper tiger?” Melissa widened her eyes in shock.

”Paper tiger, what?” Nathan was confused.

”You donʼt know about it? Well, I once heard it from an elder from the Blacksmith Guild. He looked harsh and cold on the outside, but he was easily lonely and a very caring person on the inside.” Melissa shrugged.

”Still, he isnʼt the type to go just because of a personʼs request. So, itʼs quite amazing that youʼre able to invite him.”

”Thanks to his son.” Nathan nodded.

”I see. Either way, his skill is the best I have seen, so completing the device shouldnʼt take too long. In fact, we can probably get the prototype and finalize it in a day or two. Weʼll begin mass-producing after that. What do you think?” Melissa turned to Vivian.

”In that case, I will continue on the groundʼs nutrients. Theyʼre as important as this device. The rest is done as well. As long as they have pure water without the ash in it, everything should work.” Charlotte nodded.

”Sure.” Vivian agreed. ”In that case, I will complete the design in three hours or so. Help me with designing the mechanism that will allow a safe landing.” Vivian pointed to the side.

”All right.” Melissa waved to Nathan. ”Bye, big boy. Thank you for your hard work.”

”Yeah. Thank you for your hard work. I will bring the news to Flora and ask her to spread it to other kingdoms as well. Well, I donʼt think the Blacksmith Guild will have enough material, so Iʼll have her ask the kingdoms for the materials as well.” Nathan looked around. ”Where is Noelle again? Is she still near the city? I need her to bring the letter. I havenʼt seen Selena and Sera as well. The sun will go up in two hours…”

Vivian glanced at Melissa. ”Which shape will be more optimal to fly?”

”Arrow? But I think a sphere will do just fine. We just need to make a little change in the design for those two,” Melissa entered while turning around as both of them were discussing in a calm manner.
