Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 459: Nathanʼs Request

Sleeping Garden.

”Whatʼs wrong, Captain? Itʼs surprising for you to call me back to the base all of a sudden? Is it for the interrogation?” Neyeid crossed his arms.

Evelyn shook her head. She tossed a letter to him.

Neyeidʼs expression turned grim the moment he read the letter.

ʼIʼm not entirely sure about it, but stock up on food and seed as much as possible.ʼ

”Huh? Whatʼs going on?” Neyeid frowned.

”Iʼm not sure. That just arrived a moment ago. It was as if he sent it because…” Evelyn squinted his eyes.

”Those weird noises earlier?”

Evelyn nodded.

”This…” Neyeid was a bit confused, wondering what he should do.

…

Rararaoi Village.

”Sir Summoner…” The village chief looked worried because of the sound earlier. He wanted Nathanʼs confirmation about it.

Nathan smiled gently while saying, ”The volcano eruption is done. That must be the sound from that eruption.” Nathan explained.

”Ah. Is that so?” The village chief felt relieved. After all, it meant they wouldnʼt have to suffer anymore.”

Unfortunately, Nathan also added, ”Well, you should stock up on food just in case. Thatʼs the only thing I can say right now. Unfortunately, it seems that my stay has to be cut short. I have to return to the academy immediately.”

”This… At least visit my place first. I would like to hand over the reward.”

Nathan shook his head. ”You can keep the reward. Sorry, this is very urgent.” Nathan couldnʼt even bother with it right now.

The girls wondered why he was in such a hurry.

Without waiting for the village chiefʼs response, Nathan simply rushed outside the village and resummoned Nidhogg.

As soon as they took off, Selena couldnʼt help but ask, ”Do you know anything about this, Nathan?”

Nathan nodded with a heavy sigh. ”Yeah. I believe Iʼve read a couple of lines about such a thing in the Ancient Library. Itʼs called a supervolcano.

”Iʼm afraid that itʼs going to spew so much ash into the air. The heavier materials will fall down to earth while the lighter one will remain in the sky, becoming a cloud that covers the world.

”As a result, the sun canʼt reach the ground, meaning…” Nathan sighed.

”I heard from my father in the past that you need the sun to grow the crops, right?” Selena looked up, recalling the memory.

”Yeah. More importantly, itʼs also keeping us warm. But if the sunlight canʼt reach the surface, it will create a very long winter. It might even last for a couple of years.” Nathan nodded.

”There will be such a long winter?” Sera raised her eyebrows. ”Shouldnʼt we stay in the Rararaoi Village a bit longer then?”

”Sera? Are you serious right now? Canʼt you see whatʼs actually going on?” Selena raised her voice. ”If itʼs truly as Nathan says, the world will be chaotic soon. If there is such a prolonged winter, what do you think will happen first?

”In addition to the ash, growing crops will be impossible, meaning that farmers will lose their jobs and cause a devastating famine all around the world.

”We are not counting on whatʼs going to happen next. Drought or other things that we donʼt know.

”In addition, if there is a famine that will last a couple of years, it will kill most of the population.

”Without enough food supply, the knights in the front line will face a major issue. What if at least half of the knights die? The aliens will invade us. Unlike humans, they donʼt eat, so their invasion will be much more ferocious than anything that has been recorded in history.

”Do I need to say more? This is only a mere speculation. Iʼm afraid that the situation will be much worse than that.”

Sera and Alavenya dropped their jaws. This was the first time they actually thought about this. If there was indeed such a disaster, it would be a devastating blow to humanity.

It was no wonder why Nathan was panicking.

”This is just speculation, so make sure to keep a close look at the western sky. If you see a cloud that is expanding continuously, I believe it is an ash cloud. We will have to deal with the worst possible outcome.”

”So, what are we supposed to do in this situation?” Selena asked.

”Donʼt inform the people behind you yet until we confirm the situation. Iʼm just afraid theyʼre going to misunderstand, and all this is just me being paranoid.”

They nodded their heads.

As soon as they reached the Frexia Academy, Nathan immediately left the girls and headed to Vivianʼs mansion. They were just celebrating the New Year a moment ago, and it didnʼt take Nathan an hour to return, so it was still dark.

*Bang!*

”Master!” Nathan panted a few times, finding Vivianʼs shocked face.

”Whatʼs wrong? Are you scared about those weird noises? There is nothing scary about it, so calm down. Weʼll be conducting some investigation to know whatʼs going on.” Vivian smiled gently, assuring his disciple.

She was a bit happy to know that it was the first one he visited. She fixed her nightgown while calmly walking to Nathan.

”Come. Letʼs sit down first.” Vivian patted his back as if wanting him to know that everything was going to be fine.

Nathan felt bad for hiding this information the whole time. Would it change if Vivian summoned the fairy queen from the beginning?

Still, this thought was secondary for the current situation.

They really needed the fairy queen right now. Both her strength and knowledge were important.

Even though Nathan knew a thing or two about the volcano, he wasnʼt sure about everything else. If there was a famine in such a situation, could they still farm using the familiarʼs power?

What about the ash? Could they push away the ash cloud?

How to solve the famine and put a stop to the alienʼs invasion?

Nathan needed all that information. And the only person who had it was the fairy queen.

His face turned solemn. Even if it meant his lie would be exposed, he had no other choice.

Nathan looked Vivian in the eye. ”Master…”

”En? Whatʼs wrong?”

”Iʼll accept any punishment after this. However, please listen to my request.”

”Sure.” Vivian tilted her head in confusion, not knowing what punishment he was talking about.

Nathan took a deep breath before revealing his lie. ”Please summon the fairy queen right now.”
