Pioneer Lord: Starting From Daily Intelligence

Chapter 991: Chapter 137: The Evil Son of Manan and the Powerful Offensive of the Hesse Territory (Part 4)

”Dorglin, intensify the cannon fire, use flame beams to blow these monsters to smithereens for me.”

Dorglin immediately replied loudly and excitedly, ”Lord, leave it to us! We dwarves will treat everyone to a seafood feast!”

Before he finished speaking, he raised the ancient relic of the dwarves, the Surveyor’s sniper telescope, and shouted, ”My children, aim and fire at them, blow those lousy fish and shrimp to bits!”

The dwarves on the cannon positions acted swiftly and decisively, heavy explosive shells were pushed into the steaming hot gun barrels. The cannon muzzles once again spat deadly flames and thick smoke!

”Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom---!”

This time, the shelling was precise and ruthless. It was no longer a probing suppression, but a destructive blanket strike. The whistling shells accurately hit the narrow streets inside Rapids Castle crowded with Bess’s claws of resentment and Ankang Man-eating Fish.

The explosion’s firelight connected into a whole, like the flowers of Hell blooming in the dirty tides. The scorching air waves swept away everything, carrying lethal cast iron fragments, rubble, and seawater vaporized instantly.

The skull armor that Bess’s claws of resentment proudly boasted of was utterly fragile in front of the close-range explosions of the explosive shells. The sturdy skull shattered and splattered like pottery, and the wriggling crimson crab bodies inside were torn, burned, carbonized. The six proud, razor-sharp crab claws twisted and broke in the shock wave, scattering everywhere. The dense formation became their death sentence, a single shell often accounting for several or even more than a dozen of these terrifying sea monsters. The streets were instantly covered with shattered armor, broken claws, and charred, foul-smelling chunks of flesh.

And those hunched-over, big-headed piranha monsters wailed in the storm of steel as well. Their relatively fragile bodies couldn’t withstand the explosions and fragments at all. The massive piranha heads were easily penetrated and blasted apart, fishy stench blood and brain matter splattered everywhere. The tridents in their hands twisted and deformed, and along with their hunched bodies, were lifted by the shock waves and heavily smashed against walls or onto their companions, the sound of bones breaking clearly heard.

The strong smell, mixed with gunpowder smoke, blood, charring, and the unique fishy stench of marine life, rose to the sky, almost choking people. The once-surging ”sea monster wave” under the dwarves’ precise and ferocious cannon fire was visibly plowed open, shattered, and vanished.

Under the cover of cannon fire, Hesse Territory’s army was hardly affected; vast numbers of troops quickly climbed the walls, Hesse Territory’s White Wolf Knights already held their ground, every swing of the Dwarf Butcher’s heavy war axe accompanied by a bloody storm. More and more Hesse soldiers swarmed up the walls through ladders, the Blue Sword Knight Order and Manan Knights were being divided and surrounded, forced to retreat step by step. Towards the city gate, the Dwarf Heavy Infantry phalanx led by the Giant Butcher was advancing against arrow rain and encirclement, heading for the gate.

The war has reached a stalemate, with the current situation, Hesse Territory might capture this fortress covered in firepower on the first day.

At this moment, Marshal Orstein’s eagle-like sharp eyes stared intently at the chaotic battlefield below, saying, ”Something’s wrong, the Manan Knights’ combat strength shouldn’t be this weak, relying on the sturdy Rapids Castle, yet they couldn’t hold it for a day. They’re deliberately luring us to send in more troops.”

Hilude shared the same opinion, saying, ”Yesterday’s overwhelming Divine Grace has not appeared at all. I suspect the opponent definitely has a backup plan! Our offensive and progress are too fast.”

Su Li is now a mighty Champion Knight of the Sun Goddess Church, his military acumen and quick decision-making surpassed most knights, and he decisively ordered, ”Tell the soldiers who have scaled the walls to stand firm, attack at all costs, to put more pressure on the opponent! Pass the order, I’m watching the vanguard and its soldiers take Rapids Castle with their own strength here! Suspend the offensive of the troops that haven’t yet climbed the walls.”

In fact, by the time Su Li’s order was conveyed, the situation had already developed as he said. The vanguard soldiers fought bloodily, having reached the city gates, the Giant Butcher’s massive war axe chopping at the city’s gate with a heavy hack, as if striking at the very heart of Rapids Castle.
