Pioneer Lord: Starting From Daily Intelligence

Chapter 987: Chapter 136: First Victory and Massive Gains

However, this doesn’t align with Queen Aeliria’s usual persona. Her cold demeanor destined her not to partake in such menial tasks. Her nature isn’t as warm and amiable as other dragons.

She was compelled by Su Li to be a mount, inspiring morale and spirits in this battle.

Hilude didn’t force her to do such things anymore.

Upon hearing Hilude’s introduction, Su Li was confident in the dwarves’ capabilities and asked, ”Can all the mortars be transported up in one night?”

”No problem,” Hilude replied. ”The War Car Fort will remain below; if we’re only hoisting mortars and cannons, the dwarves can transport all the turrets tonight. However, the biggest issue is with the transportation of ammunition. At dawn tomorrow, we’ll bombard Rapids Castle, and it requires constant cannon fire, so the ammunition consumption will be enormous. That’s the most challenging part of our logistics.”

This indeed posed a problem because the artillery couldn’t match the cavalry in this regard. If the cavalry reached the barracks, they only required minimal supplies. Just pulling up a cart could sustain them for a while. If supplies couldn’t be transported, they could eat grass to persist for some time, requiring resupply every few days.

But once the heavy artillery is deployed, there’s no stopping on the logistical front; the transportation tasks have only just commenced, with daily shipments of ammunition needed.

If supplies aren’t transported in a day, the cannons fall silent. Yet, to bombard the Rapids Castle on the opposite side, the ammunition consumption is astronomical.

Su Li asked, ”So how will ammunition be transported subsequently?”

”Primarily relying on the dwarves to carry them back and forth like ants,” Hilude had no better plan. ”The only good news is that the ammunition is relatively light. A Dwarf Ranger can carry a single round to the top of the cliff.”

”Isn’t the efficiency too slow? The Flying Horse, Swan, and Giant Eagle could participate in the transportation.”

Hilude smiled and shook his head, saying, ”Flying mounts generally need to prioritize their flying, so their load-carrying capacity is far less than ground mounts. In terms of efficiency, the Dwarf Rangers are still higher. You think the Dwarf Rangers’ efficiency is relatively low because you see this cliff as an insurmountable obstacle. From a human’s perspective, this indeed seems like an impossible path. But for those of mountain blood, this is just a walk in the park. It’s just a few hundred meters.”

In this analogy, Su Li suddenly found that setting the turret on a cliff had great potential. The mountains and cliffs were the dwarves’ most suitable environment. For Dwarf Rangers, this journey wouldn’t be tougher than human knights carrying ammunition hundreds of meters.

Su Li often interacted with dwarves and still couldn’t help but think from a human perspective. The defenders in Rapids Castle were likely even more unprepared!

The artillery outpost on this cliff would undoubtedly deliver a massive shock to them.

The fall of this camp would have a far greater impact than Baron Grant’s estimate!

With the preparations of the Hesse troops completed, at the crack of dawn the next day, as the sunrise cast a golden glow, the assault on Rapids Castle began in earnest.

Above the canyon where the torrents passed yesterday, a gigantic rainbow arched across the right bank of the canyon, which both sides saw as their respective divine spirits’ blessing.

Especially the knights of Manan, who cheered atop the castle. After storms, rainbows often appear, so the Manan knights often see this as a sign of Manan’s divine grace.

Meanwhile, thousands of elite troops from the Hesse territory were arrayed beneath Heisen Castle, their armor gleaming in the sun, banners fluttering, further convinced that this rainbow was the display of their divine power.

Because this was the Druidic Five-Ring Spell, the Rainbow Bridge! This Rainbow Bridge enabled their knights to carry out devastating attacks more easily, and wood-attribute knights could transport a team and materials via the Rainbow Bridge. The Druid was escorting many dwarves, using the Rainbow Bridge to transport supplies up the cliff face.

As soon as the cannonade starts, the elite forces of Hesse will launch a fierce offensive against this fortress of the Blue Mirror Territory!
