Pioneer Lord: Starting From Daily Intelligence

Chapter 978: Chapter 134: The Hesse Territory’s Mighty War Car Fort Shines Brighly for the First Time (Part 3)

The pass that only allows one person through at a time can only hold three dwarves standing side by side. They arranged themselves directly, holding their firearms, launching a fierce attack in rows at the guards on the Five Miles Secret Gate.

At this moment, it was a test of both sides’ bloodthirstiness, almost like a fantasy version of a wall. As long as the other side threw stones down, they could easily wipe out a powerful dwarf. But at the same time, as soon as they showed themselves, they would be shot dead by firearms.

Whichever side can withstand higher casualties and push the front line forward will win the victory.

The Leader of the Black Lynx Knight Order, Joseph, turned pale as he looked up. His vision was excellent, and he could see the situation above at a glance. The morale of the guards in the Right Bank Camp had crumbled under the attack, and they dared not show themselves again. If not for the stone-throwing facility they had built above, which they could use to leverage the stone reserves by mechanical advantage and levers to block the passage, the dwarves would have stormed through already.

But precisely because of this military equipment, the guards above were instilled with a great sense of evasiveness, not daring to face greater losses in a life-for-life struggle with the dwarves.

At least while there’s still a significant distance and it’s not yet a matter of life and death, these Armed Attendants lack the conviction to fight to the death. They are more inclined to wait for the Black Lynx Knight Order to defeat this besieged group of dwarves rather than confront these cornered dwarves head-on.

This made Joseph extremely irritable. He never anticipated that his carefully devised tactics might become ineffective because the dwarves managed to hammer through the front line.

It can only be said that he had stayed within the Empire for too long and had too few opportunities to engage with Mountain Dwarves. If you were to ask a Lord from the Border Development Territory what the most important consideration is when engaging in battle with dwarves, you would get a very clear answer: Be careful of being bashed through by those short and stout figures! These resilient and obstinate dwarves have unparalleled strength in straightforward advances.

Joseph immediately roared, ”Mighty Mountain Cats, the people of Blue Mirror Territory are a bunch of incompetents, can’t even hold the line. Charge forward, and execute these children. Glory belongs to our Black Lynx Knight Order.”

At this moment, the Grand Master of the Black Lynx Knight Order was leading the troops to attack the religious Holy Image on the Hesse Territory Central Army defense line. To guard this Holy Image, Dietrich personally led over thirty Medical Knights and more than sixty Dwarf Butchers stationed here.

Seeing the charge of the Black Lynx Knight Order, he yawned with boredom, turned his head to the leader’s flag in the main position behind, and seeing no instructions, he disinterestedly waved his hand, ordered the dwarves, ”Cut them down.”

In fact, he also wanted to test the combat power of the Divine Chosen Level. Since achieving a breakthrough to the Divine Chosen Level after obtaining the Holy Tear of Shalya, he had yet to enjoy a thorough battle in his Divine General state. His only few battle experiences were under the pretext of ”sparring” when he avenged personal grievances with Bishop Rong’en.

However, the Commander-in-Chief deemed it inappropriate to immediately expose the terrifying combat power of the Divine Chosen Level, lest it scare away the reinforcements from Rapids Castle, so he could only restrain his restless heart.

But even without him, a Divine Chosen Knight making a move, the strong military force from Hesse Territory quickly stunned the Black Lynx Knight Order. The members of the order were almost blasted dizzy, questioning their lives.

Because right here, six War Car Forts sent over by the Imperial Engineers from Hesse Territory were the upgraded versions of cannons, each pulled by two strong warhorses, then four dwarves rapidly loading ammunition in the sturdy cars.

This rapid mobile-based accompanying firepower caught the Black Lynx Knight Order off guard. They never expected that this rapidly mobile Hesse Territory army descending upon Cold Wind Canyon would bring along such heavy artillery.

More importantly, these cannons utilized sealed chamber structures, firing resulted in the effect of [Uzul Holy Fire], with six cannonballs transforming into over forty bursts of flame in the air, instantly enveloping the charging path of the Black Lynx Knight Order.

No matter how low the killing power of these many flame streaks might be, requiring two or even three rounds to kill a knight, it still caused casualties to over a dozen knights.

It’s well known that even knights clad in Star Iron Armor could withstand one or two cannonball hits but would certainly not dare to withstand a third.

Nobody from a Master of Forging or an Imperial Engineer has ever dared to beat their chest and guarantee that their Fine Level or Refined Level battle armor could withstand direct hits from three cannonballs.

In fact, the effect of these cannonballs modified by the Imperial Engineering College Master Francesca far exceeded Su Li’s expectations. Although a single cannonball was truly less powerful than a standard cannonball, the flame streaks offered area attacks. One shot could cover a range of 2–3 meters, exploding upon landing, expanding another 4–6 meters.

Thus, a single flame streak covered a minimum destructive range of 6 meters, potentially reaching up to 10 meters. This resulted in many knights suffering overlapping damage from several flame streaks.

Furthermore, their Black Lynx Knight Order is celebrated for agility, their protection on the front battlefield is not the most top-tier, and importantly, they have no warhorses!

Originally, Su Li set the primary battleground and target for the cannon to bombard the slow-moving formations like goblins and goblins infantry arrays.

As a result, the first battle of the cannon encountered its most perfect target substitute – a large number of Black Lynx Knights relying on foot movement, becoming the ideal target for artillery attacks.
