Pioneer Lord: Starting From Daily Intelligence

Chapter 974: Chapter 133: The Majestic Fantasy Army and Immediate Assault_3

The dwarves and knights of Hesse Territory are unclear about the situation inside, whether there are trails that can circle around. However, the army of Blue Mirror Territory might have found a path to circle around after clearing the area of Greenskin. Therefore, Marshal Oerstein has to guard against all these possibilities.

At the same time, he is actively seeking more surprise attack routes. The art of war relies on direct strategies to align and surprise strategies to achieve victory.

When two armies are at war, it’s impossible for a large-scale force to gather on one battlefield, stuck without advancing, especially in a terrain as daunting as Rapids Castle, where a single soldier could block a vast enemy force.

As the attacking side, the best choice is to send a flanking force, to circle and attack from the wings, opening another front.

This approach is common among all commanders, leading to the continuous expansion of both sides’ flanks. Now, with less than 10,000 troops, the scale has spread over dozens of miles.

Currently, Blue Mirror Territory undoubtedly has a strategic advantage; their large scale allows them to expand the wings while having sufficient mobile troops to fiercely attack a point. Last night’s intense battle was the most vivid demonstration of this situation.

If things continue to deplete as before, the opponent will rely on numbers to win. Sooner or later, Marshal Oerstein will, due to the inevitable loss of long defense, result in a camp or stronghold failing to wait for reinforcements and being completely breached by the enemy.

Fortunately, Su Li has arrived with a large reinforcement, sweeping away this stalemate.

Upon entering the command tent, Marshal Oerstein excitedly asked, ”Lord, I have long been preparing for a fierce counterattack, but have been unable to do so due to the scarcity of troops. Lord, how many troops did you bring this time?”

Su Li sat in the commander’s position, with his back to the large map behind him, his body straight, and replied with unparalleled confidence and composure, ”For this battle, the main force of our territory’s army is out in full strength! The professional army has expanded to over 2,800 people since the Radiant Festival, and 2,500 elite infantry and cavalry are deployed in this battle. Beyond the necessary guards for the treasury, castle, and palace, all the high-level attendants, Knight Order, and provincial army have been brought by me.”

”Additionally, we mobilized 4 squadrons of dwarves, 900 members of the Free People’s Corps, and nearly 2 squadrons of Ogre Bull Warriors.”

Plus the Free Guild soldiers supported by Flash Spear City, and the dwarf butcher and Battle Pilgrimage Group attracted locally. This battle sees Su Li deploying a force totaling as many as 4,500 people!

Frankly speaking, at this point, the army of Hesse Territory already fully possesses the scale of a Baron’s Territory and far exceeds it in strength. Neither the Divine Chosen Knights, Champion Knights, nor Count’s Territory of Hesse Territory can compare.

Such a massive scale of the army, coupled with excellent combat power, gives Hesse Territory an apparent military advantage.

Of course, the war between the two territories is not merely a comparison of who has a greater military advantage to determine victory. Otherwise, Hesse Territory wouldn’t be able to win the war against the Green Dragon.

If Blue Mirror Territory can effectively utilize its geographical advantages, it can also keep Hesse Territory out of Cold Wind Canyon.

And the prolonged war is clearly more disadvantageous to Hesse Territory.

After Su Li completed the introduction, he turned to look at Marshal Oerstein and asked: ”My Marshal, what combat plan do you have, with this vast army entrusted to you, to decisively defeat the enemy?”

Oerstein, as the commander-in-chief, remained cautious. Hearing this, he prudently replied, ”Currently, we are still in the mutual probing process with Blue Mirror Territory. Before understanding the opponent’s trump card, no commander dares to rashly claim certain victory.”

”When two large-scale armies clash, we must start with probing from the flanks, accumulating advantages for our side, and then, when achieving overwhelming advantage, crush the enemy at once.”

”Therefore, although strategically we dare not make rash assertions, we have the confidence and determination to act decisively in tactics.”

After saying this, Oerstein walked to the map, pointed at the interlocking lines on the map, and circled a camp on the high ground north of Cold Wind Canyon.

”This camp is on the north bank of Rapids Castle, atop the cliffs of Cold Wind Canyon, overlooking the entire battlefield, controlling the mountain routes to prevent any army from bypassing the canyon to attack Rapids Castle from the rear.”

”Previously, Blue Mirror Territory’s army has been intentionally opening a false gate, inviting battle, urging us to attack this camp. It’s clear they intend to leverage the capabilities of Manan Knights and their advantage in numbers to set a trap, surrounding our attacking troops entirely to eliminate them.”

”I have been deploying troops, attempting to launch a fierce counterattack right here. They want to set a trap to surround us, but we can lure them out and annihilate their main force right here.”

The saying goes, ’without sacrifice, there’s no gain.’ Marshal Oerstein’s tactic is to use a large force to attack this cliff-top camp, thereby luring the Rapids Castle army to fight, crossing the Brionne River to strike at the rear of Hesse Territory’s army.

Once the opponent’s main force is deployed, Hesse Territory’s army will perform a central breakthrough, with reinforcements cooperating with Manan Knights to conduct a large-scale main force battle beside the river valley.

This kind of field battle is naturally more advantageous for Hesse Territory. The Blazing Sun Knights can utilize their combat power advantage to significantly damage the enemy forces, thereby reducing siege difficulties.

The only question is, can this canyon be traversed?
