Pioneer Lord: Starting From Daily Intelligence

Chapter 951: Chapter 127: Preparations for Contact with the Wood Elves

The produce in the purple Spirit Fields—whether Ghost Vine, Star Dew Sweet Orange, or the various fruit trees—would all have to wait until the end of this harvest season before they could be gathered. After Su Li and Vandar strolled for a while through the orchard of their Holy Land, they entered the Monastery.

This was the most important silk-production base in the Hesse Territory; after a whole spring of breeding, the Summer Silkworms had already begun to be cultivated on a large scale.

As the guards pushed open the door, Su Li and Vandar stepped into the room. The two Priestesses in the Monastery, both wearing Reya’s wheat-crown, rose at once and curtsied slightly toward Su Li. ”May the morning light ever rest upon your robes, my Lord.”

Su Li smiled and nodded. ”We meet again, Sister Caterina and Sister Lolita.”

Every time he saw them, Su Li could not help feeling pleased with his own sense of aesthetics. Because they were spinning nuns, they wore not linen but long chiffon robes in the color of emerald waves; silver threads rippled with subtle motions as they bowed. Beneath the high-slit skirts, their beautiful legs were as enchanting as the waves of a clear lake, and when they bent slightly, the swell of their breasts revealed a dazzling expanse of white, the curves full and tempting.

They were Cultivators of the Daughters of Dawn Church, who placed a stronger emphasis on love and procreation; beyond their weaving, they also presided over weddings. One could say that in seeing them, one beheld the loveliest things within a Territory.

Su Li’s mood lifted, and he stepped forward to inspect the Summer Silkworms in the racks. As the Summer Silkworms were now in their feeding period rather than their cocooning phase, the environment did not need to be as hushed as last time. One could hear a constant rustling sound—the silkworm babies were devouring mulberry leaves.

Though they looked small, their appetites were enormous; in no time that soft rustling would strip a flat basket’s heap of mulberry leaves bare.

”How are this year’s Summer Silkworms faring?” Su Li asked with concern.

Sister Caterina stood by Su Li’s side and said, ”My Lord, we are putting all our effort into cultivating these Moonlight Celestial Silkworms. At present, their number has already reached more than two hundred.”

”The quality of the Summer Silkworms cannot compare to that of the Spring Silkworms, but they have the advantage of producing more silk. Our value will increase further because of that.”

More than two hundred Moonlight Celestial Silkworms already? That breeding speed was truly impressive.

Sister Charlotte was rather adorable; smiling with her eyes curved like a crescent as if offering up a treasure, she asked, ”My Lord, would you like to take a look at the silkworm babies? They’re plump and chubby, very cute.”

”May I?” Su Li was genuinely interested. In ordinary silkworm-raising households, the children could never resist taking out a few silkworm babies to play with. He was actually quite envious of that. After all, men remain boys at heart until the day they die; a toy he had never played with was something he wanted to try.

Charlotte immediately plucked a mulberry leaf and placed a chubby silkworm baby upon it. The Moonlight Celestial Silkworms were whiter than common silkworms, like pearls—lustrous and rounded. Even after being set upon the mulberry leaf, it continued its rustling feast, utterly unconcerned by the gazes of those around it.

Charlotte eagerly held it up before Su Li and said, ”My Lord, you may touch it. Although it is an Extraordinary silkworm species, it has almost no offensive ability.”

There was no need to touch it. Su Li waved his hand and, after observing for a moment, turned his head toward Sister Caterina and asked, ”What is the output of the Summer Silkworms like? When will we be able to produce the first set of silk garments and Banners?”

The price of such silk garments was beyond estimation. Their greatest effect lay in greatly amplifying the inherent Charm and influence of nobles and Priests, while at the same time massively boosting resistance to Chaos Corruption.

For example, the Sun Goddess Church’s Divine Magic, Divine Revelation Leader, would become even more powerful under the influence of these silk vestments.

Without question, this sort of high-grade specialty product was suited to nobles and Senior Clergy. Su Li was certain that once this Rainbow Silk was produced, it would sell in a frenzy in Flash Spear City, that City of Faith.

Sister Caterina replied at once, ”My Lord, our summer production of raw silk will reach more than four jin. We estimate that by autumn, we will be able to produce the first batch of garments. But as for the shortage of embroiderers, Dean Oliver has not yet been able to resolve that for us.”

Su Li still remembered this problem; before the Radiant Festival they had already raised the lack of embroiderers and designers. Oliver might be the Divine Chosen, but he was not omnipotent, and there was no way he could resolve everything within a single month.

Vandar suggested, ”Embroiderers and designers are not found only in the Zhendan Empire of the East. The cities within the Empire and those Elf artists also possess very considerable strength. We do not need them to be absolutely top-tier; as long as they possess Elite Level skill, once they work with Rainbow Spider Silk, the silk garments we produce will be exceedingly popular.”

The elites of the cities within the Empire, hmm? Su Li pondered. Such people were generally the main urban citizenry of the Empire’s large cities. Their productive capacity was already approaching the budding stage of an industrial society, and they would normally be very reluctant to leave those highly urbanized imperial metropolises.

The Elves, however—Su Li felt he could make some plans there. The two great artistic races of this world were the Dwarves and the Elves.

As for the Dwarves, there was little need to elaborate. Their craft favored brass filigree decorations and focused on jewelry, gemstones, and all things that glittered. They especially delighted in colossal statues of the Dwarf King; all in all, they resembled Giant Dragons in certain ways.

The Elves, on the other hand, were undoubtedly closer to humans. The High Elves, who called themselves Asur, had established in Ossuan the most resplendent and magnificent civilization in the world, and their armies were likewise elite forces, standing on the very front line in the struggle against Chaos and other Evil Forces.
