Pioneer Lord: Starting From Daily Intelligence

Chapter 975: Chapter 133: The Majestic Fantasy Army and the Immediate Offensive (Part 4)

Su Li curiously asked, ”Isn’t Rapids Castle supposed to be an impregnable stronghold where one hero can hold off ten thousand? Doesn’t it control the throat of Cold Wind Valley, preventing us from advancing even an inch?”

”The terrain is indeed like that, which gives the Blue Mirror Territory a significant geographical advantage,” Marshal Oerstein immediately followed up, ”But no matter how treacherous a pass may be, it is not an insurmountable natural barrier. Especially here in Cold Wind Canyon, which is not an especially steep and formidable mountain; our Dwarf Ranger units and Mountain Shepherd units can cross this mountain range by taking unconventional routes.”

”The reason why Rapids Castle is so strategically positioned is because it controls the route for our main force and supply transport. If we can abandon logistical supplies and travel light, we can still bypass Cold Wind Canyon and take a detour to the rear of Rapids Castle.”

Yet, this is a risky maneuver. If a thousand troops only carry a few days’ rations to cross Cold Wind Canyon and then appear behind Rapids Castle but fail to capture the core city and interior of the Blue Mirror Territory in a surprise attack, then these over a thousand troops would be in danger. The Blue Mirror Territory could guard Rapids Castle with only a few troops and mobilize a large army to return and encircle these over a thousand Hesse Territory troops whose logistics have collapsed.

”And this Right Bank Camp is the direction we’ve chosen to break through. The entire right side of Cold Wind Canyon is a massive plateau, where water accumulates above and rushes down to carve out a Five Miles Secret Gate, which is a channel on the plateau only a few meters wide, just wide enough for a carriage. Above this Five Miles Secret Gate is where the Blue Mirror Territory guards their camp.”

”We plan to dispatch Mountain Ram War Chariots and Dwarf Rangers to force a breakthrough here and open a passage into the Blue Mirror Territory. I believe the troops at Rapids Castle won’t just sit by. And once they engage, that will be our opportunity.”

The Mountain Ram War Chariots are the most suitable units for this type of terrain, as mountain rams can move freely on near-vertical cliffs.

The existence of these fantasy units makes certain natural barriers seem like smooth roads.

If they manage to ascend the cliffs above the canyon and capture the camp, regardless of whether the Hesse Territory continues to advance and launch an offensive into the Blue Mirror Territory, they will hold a significant strategic advantage in the ensuing war.

It’s fair to say this is a move imbued with great significance, regardless of whether we advance or retreat. Even if we are to continue attacking Rapids Castle, we must first take this camp to have a strategic vantage point over the enemy forces.

By then, the Dwarfs’ artillery can be hoisted up by the Rangers with ropes, and from above they can overlook Rapids Castle across the river; every move the garrison inside makes will be under our surveillance. The artillery can target dense groups of people, bypassing the strong walls and directly causing casualties.

That’s why Marshal Oerstein has been planning for so long, always preparing for this powerful counterattack.

This strategy, theoretically, has no problems, and if implemented smoothly, it will greatly enhance our advantage. Su Li was left with one last concern, asking, ”What is the risk of us launching a frontal assault on this fortress in the Brionne River valley? Luring the enemy out may lead to our main forces being completely lost to the riverbed?”

Marshal Oerstein paused in thought but was resolute in his response, ”In a battle with Manan’s knights, we must always consider the tremendous impact of waves and rivers. However, I believe Manan does not have the terrifying divine power to directly annihilate thousands of knights. If he indeed intervened in the mortal world’s warfare in such a way, then the Sun Goddess would surely grant us her protection!”

Su Li was thus completely persuaded, standing up directly, and said, ”Then I approve your battle plan. Start the attack immediately while our army is fresh and eager, and take down this Right Bank Camp in one swift move, dealing a heavy blow to the enemy. I will personally lead the main army to support you.”
