My Players Are So Fierce

Chapter 3038 -1012: This Game Offers Humanistic Care—A Special Pursuit Mechanism Is Now Online

“I… cough cough… where am I?”

Amidst the hoarse coughing, sounds of water pounding and splashing emanated from the big fish tank, instantly waking up Three Five Battles who was dozing nearby. Clad in armor, he immediately stood up and looked towards the space under his supervision.

Then he saw the mermaid in the fishing line opening her eyes, looking around with a puzzled expression.

The mermaid’s eyes were quite beautiful, with an exceptionally unique tricolor pupil, a deep blue resembling ocean water and a pale green like a gemstone.

It’s said to be a characteristic of the Merfolk.

To better live and hunt underwater, their eyes and bodies underwent adaptive evolution.

The language used by Merfolk evolved from the ancient Kalem language, but Three Five Battles’ Adventure Assistant dutifully fulfilled the role of translator, enabling him to understand the mermaid’s inquiry, as the shield holder helplessly helped the bewildered yet wary mermaid to the water surface, answering:

“This is the Transylvania Embassy at Charldo Harbor; you are safe here.”

“Wait! You, your face… I remember you! You’re the one who tangled me with that evil fishing line and knocked me out with brute force!”

The Little Mermaid, upon careful recognition, immediately withdrew her hand and shrank back to the bottom of the big fish tank with a wary posture, crossing her arms while glaring angrily at Three Five Battles through the glass.

She was clearly more comfortable in the water than out of it, her black hair floating in the water, and her puffed-up cheeks indicating her displeasure, leaving Three Five Battles more desolate about his future. Could it be that his life in Transylvania must become that of a pathetic sea exile?

But Three Five Battles was a player, and players’ unique thinking quickly made him latch onto a major flaw in the mermaid’s words.

He rolled his eyes and said:

“I cast the bait to catch fish, with no intention to harm you, and previously, when Sir Murphy saved you, I heard you mention something about ‘delicious bait’… So, were you caught by the fishing line because of the bait?”

“Shut up!”

The mermaid’s face flushed as she scolded, blowing bubbles in the water:

“That’s not it at all!

I had already lost my rationality under the influence of the Daguan Fishmen’s wicked sorcery, who knows what inappropriate actions I might make. But it certainly wasn’t to sneak a bite of your bait!

Ah, sly and vile land folks!

You are insulting the dignity of a Mermaid Priest; I will mention your name to my cousin, the Warrior Chief at the Vicanos Temple! She will bring the Tidal Hunters to drag you into the sea.”

“I just said it casually, but your strong reaction seems to validate my guess.”

Three Five Battles snorted.

He didn’t understand how the Mermaid could make sounds underwater, but that wasn’t the point. With arms crossed, he addressed the angry Mermaid through the glass of the fish tank:

“I swear to Avalon to keep this secret for you, but you also need to guarantee that my name won’t be recorded in your dreadful Book of Tides and Hatred. As compensation for the accidental injury, I’ll cover all your expenses while you recuperate, okay?

I truly wish to apologize.

But now that you’re awake, you must come with me to meet Sir Murphy. He has many questions concerning the Daguan Fishmen for you. By the way, how do you move without water? Do you have to carry a fish tank around?”

“Hmph, foolish land folk, the power given to Merfolk by the Sea Abyss Deity is beyond your imagination…”

The Little Mermaid pouted.

In her weakened state, she formed a Dharma Seal in the water, morphing her appearance while wrapped in the flow of water, much to the surprise of Three Five Battles. Her exaggerated fish tail soon transformed into two tender, pale legs supporting her on the floor.

Considered by Triss to be newly adult, the Little Mermaid proudly puffed out her chest and said:

“The Atlantean Merfolk descended from Dragonkind who worship the Sea Abyss Deity; the Deity granted us control over tides and the ocean, while preserving our land forms. Of course, after all these years, Atlantean Merfolk have adapted to the gentle protection of the sea.

We seldom use our frail legs to tread on land unless necessary, but occasionally running on land is no big deal… What are you looking at!”

“Oh! Why aren’t you wearing pants, you rogue!”

Startled, Three Five Battles immediately covered his eyes, letting out a scream.

The Little Mermaid, who had been full of pride moments ago, widened her eyes in shock, glanced down at her naked legs and lower body, and screamed louder, fainting on the spot due to her weakness, flipping her eyes dramatically with a thud.

In a flurry, Three Five Battles rummaged through his Psychic package, eventually finding a loose-fitting Elven Robe to drape over the Little Mermaid, then used Avalon’s healing power to revive her.

The instant the Mermaid opened her eyes, she seized Three Five Battles’ neck and screamed:

“Don’t you dare tell anyone! I was too weak to morph scales into a skirt… You must not say a word!”

“Cough cough, buddy, I’m out of breath… Ease up.”

Three Five Battles coughed, nudging the Mermaid away.

Though she looked skinny, her strength was surprising, causing even the Silver Ranker Three Five Battles to struggle to cope, explaining why, despite her lost state in water, she could drag defeat many burly men.
