My Players Are So Fierce

Chapter 3001 -999: If Bad Things Happen, Make Even More Noise to Cover Them Up (Guilty Conscience)

“No need to report, His Majesty is still waiting, we should speed up… Hmm? Why are there flames shooting up from Jade Cloud Mountain? Could there be an assassin attempting regicide?”

“Uh, that’s where His Majesty’s Imperial Carriage crashed. The anti-gravity engine just stopped unexpectedly. Fortunately, His Majesty wasn’t flying high while sightseeing. Thanks to the sacrificial protection of the Crimson Blood Shadow Guard from the Inner Court Bureau, His Majesty only got a slight scratch at worst.”

“What nonsense are you speaking! This clearly shows His Majesty’s immense fortune, blessed by Lord Cloud Mist. It signifies the virtue of our Emperor…”

“Chirp Chirp Chirp”

The One-Eyed Star Crow under the Supervisor of Heavenly Observations echoed a sycophantic cry, agreeing with what the lord said!

Meanwhile, while chaos ensued on the Land of the Far East, the “Celestial Ally” mentioned by the Supervisor of Heavenly Observations had already descended into utter chaos.

Similar to the Dragon Emperor’s embarrassing encounter with the anti-gravity carriage’s failure during a scenic outing, the Pharaoh King also faced a disastrous vehicle crash. The only difference was that the scene made by the Pharaoh King was somewhat grand.

The “Millennium Quicksand” was now crash-landing in a sprawling posture amidst the vast desert sands of the Sanghai Empire. Thousands of Holy Beetle Guards surrounded the crash site completely, while the Pharaoh King himself sat under a hastily erected tent, gazing at his downed airship in the desert with a look of existential doubt.

He had a bruise on his head, but thanks to his usual focus on physical exercise, coupled with real luck, he didn’t suffer more harm. However, many priests from the Solar Church were still there rescuing people around the sunship.

They were saving the Pharaoh King’s most loyal Quicksand Guards. Those formidable warriors in the Servant God Armament had encountered the most humiliating situation of their lives.

Because the drive programs of their Power Armor had been formatted, they were stuck inside the stalled armor, unable to escape on their own. A large number of royal craftsmen were sweating profusely, using various tools to dismantle the Servant God Armament.

The automatic tools that were usually so handy also stopped working, leaving the craftsmen to manually unscrew the bulky armaments.

“So, is the Creator’s Holy City okay?”

The Pharaoh King looked away from the fervent rescue scene, his expression wooden as he turned to a senior minister beside him, who awkwardly replied:

“Your Majesty, we cannot make contact… Except for the ones we imitated ourselves, all communication devices left by the creator have failed. However, the Pterosaur Knights surveyed from high altitudes and noted that the light of the Creator’s Holy City still illuminates the sky; nothing is wrong there.

But outside of that, everything else has gone wrong.

We have employed the shaman’s wind whisper spell and learned that just like your sunship, all other sunships have also stalled. The initial assessment is that the main control program has been remotely formatted. It’s not just the sunship; all artifacts related to the creator are now unusable, except for those that don’t require a drive program to operate.

The city defense matrix of Ptolemaic Royal City has also stalled, and you must immediately return to oversee the Royal Capital.”

“I want to know, why is this happening?”

The Pharaoh King asked:

“This came without any warning. The country’s great craftsmen had no forewarning either. How could this happen so suddenly? Is there any presage behind it that can be deciphered?”

“Perhaps corrupted entities interfered with our sacred link to the creator?”

A royal priest said softly:

“Such things have happened before, Your Majesty. There were similar accounts during the Mamuruk rebellion, which we referred to as the Mamuruk’s betrayal of the creator’s faith, thereby inviting divine punishment.”

“…”

The Pharaoh King shook his head.

He didn’t believe this explanation and was about to ponder on his own when he suddenly heard a report that Priest Chief Bayek from the Moon Holy City came urgently, requesting an audience with the Pharaoh King to report an important matter.

Minutes later, inside the Pharaoh King’s tent, Priest Chief Bayek, in a mummy-like yet highly ceremonial priest robe, handed a scroll to the Pharaoh King.

It was well known that Priest Chief Bayek’s spirit had already entered the Netherworld.

What remained in the world was just his deteriorated shell, long since he had communicated with others using words.

Upon receiving the scroll, the Pharaoh King opened it, and upon reading it carefully, he raised his eyebrows momentarily. After a moment of contemplation, he looked at the Moon Chief Priest in front of him and said:

“Do you indeed believe that the creator’s sacred trial for the Sanghai People has already begun?”

“Mm.”

Bayek nodded, letting out a nasal sound, and in the next moment, he conveyed his thoughts to the Pharaoh King through spiritual resonance, saying:

“The people need a sufficiently noble explanation to soothe their inevitably anxious spirits. If the facts cannot be changed, then the monarch must choose from the outcomes of all decisions the one that leads to the least turmoil.

Announcing the impending trial recklessly would undoubtedly cause unnecessary disturbances. However, compared to the malicious interpretation of being stripped of divine artifacts due to losing the creator’s favor, a test in the name of faith is destined to unite the majority.

Your Majesty, a storm has already arisen in the desert.

If we complete this trial, the desert people will truly return to the creator’s embrace; if we fail miserably along the way, the thousand-year-long lie can end with the most respectable conclusion.

Do the Sanghai people covet power merely?

Or are they truly willing to offer everything to the creator?

It’s time to embark on the journey to explore the answer that is both longed for and feared.”
