My Players Are So Fierce

Chapter 3033 -1010: “Empty-handed” is Just a Fishermen’s Lie (LOL) (Part 2)

The two didn’t even ask each other’s identities, resolving any wariness with just a glance and a smile. After all, how could someone who loves fishing be a bad person?

“Come on, come on, let’s set up and gamble on our skills today.”

The Fire Demon Sanctus tied bait onto his fishing rod adorned with the skulls of Wolf People, propped up his parasol, and said to the other brothers:

“Tonight we still have to go out and patrol to deal with those wandering Wolf People. There’s only this afternoon; whoever has the biggest catch wins, and the winner will treat everyone to a meal at East Mountain Residence upon returning to Crimson Castle.”

“Huh? Why does the winner have to treat?”

Three Five Battles, confident in his fishing skills, said with dissatisfaction:

“Shouldn’t the loser be the one to lament their wallet?”

“You just don’t get it.”

Half hanging brother had already cast the first line, letting the bait draw a perfect arc into the water below. Sitting on his homemade fishing stool, he said in a drawn-out voice:

“For anglers, an empty catch is already a dreadful curse, so how could they endure the secondary hurt of an empty wallet while they’re already heartbroken? Of course, the one who catches a Big Fish should treat us, and also show off their incredible fishing skills… Hey!

There we go!”

The old brother cheered, reeling in the line while others stared in disbelief. Not even ten seconds after casting the bait, he pulled up a locally unique multicolored fish from the water.

It wasn’t very big, not a perfect catch, but certainly a good start.

“Damn, are you hacking?”

The surrounding anglers were somewhat overwhelmed, especially as Half hanging brother smugly handled the fish, criticizing its size, and then released it back into the water for environmental reasons.

“I just can’t believe it!”

Three Five Battles gritted his teeth, picked a good spot, cast his line, and started patiently waiting.

It seemed as if things were off today; as soon as Half hanging brother started, he couldn’t stop, pulling up fish one after another. Not only the players were overwhelmed, even the Elven Angler who first fished here was surprised.

His azure eyes curiously watched Half hanging brother’s series of actions. After pulling in six fish in ten minutes, the elf finally couldn’t resist and approached to softly ask:

“Friend, what bait are you using?”

“Oh, a connoisseur here, immediately knowing it’s unique bait, much better than those few louts.”

Half hanging brother laughed heartily, opened his bait bucket, pinched a handful of sticky gray stuff, and explained to the elf:

“This is a special concoction I made based on the fish around Charldo Harbor. In Transylvania, I consulted Old Flywheel about the types of fish here and got the taste preferences from the Priests at Avalon Church.

See, it’s got rotting worm mud and the roots of stinky flowers, mixed with a bit of light alcohol, and finally some wheat flour.

The mix of flavors is a delicacy for the fish around Charldo Harbor.

Ah, the ecosystem here is fascinating, even fish have their own taste preferences. However, I heard there’s an especially rare spear squid and iron fist lobster near Charldo Harbor. Several old mercenaries at the tavern, claiming they’ve been here, boast about how rare they are, saying only the world’s best anglers can catch them. So, I took a few days off to come and catch those secret fish schools for study.

Want some?

I made a lot, I’ll give you some.”

“Is that really okay?”

Seeing Half hanging brother so enthusiastic, the elf said, somewhat embarrassed:

“Just hearing the composition of your bait, I can tell you’ve put a lot of thought into it. It’s practically a secret recipe. Would it cause trouble for you to give it to me just like that?”

“Oh, us fishing enthusiasts don’t care about such formalities! Just take it, sharing is a joy after all.”

Laughing, Half hanging brother used a small bucket to give the Elven Angler some of his special bait. The latter thanked him profusely, and a few minutes later, returned with a coral-like fragment from his own bucket to share with Half hanging brother.

He explained warmly:

“The spear squid and iron fist lobster of Charldo, rather than seafood, are more like some type of Spiritual Beings. To catch these secret creatures, you need special materials as bait. I collected these pearl corals while sailing on the open sea during my travels…

Take them.”

“This stuff looks quite expensive, doesn’t it?”

Half hanging brother stared at the handful of pearl-like coral fragments in his hand, quietly saying:

“No, no, it’s too precious, I can’t accept it. Just tell me where I can find these, and I’ll have someone get them for me.”

“Take it. As you said, there’s no need for anglers to fuss over such things.”

The elf’s firm attitude left Half hanging brother no room to refuse, so he simply moved his stool beside the elf.

The two shared many fishing stories with laughter, and upon hearing that Half hanging brother once fished in a dangerous area filled with thorns, even the young elf expressed amazement.

“Damn, we came to fish, now we’re making friends?”

The Holy Master grumbled to Three Five Battles beside him, quietly adding:

“This Half hanging brother is too cunning, he even prepared the bait in advance, clearly coming prepared. There’s no way to win without some tricks today. Just wait, I’ll use a Confusion Curse on the fish underwater to lure them to our side…”
