”How did you stop them?” Gustav asked, though he already knew the answer would be grim.

Yuren shook his head slowly. ”We didnʼt. At least, not completely. We fought them—every last one of them. We had no choice. But the more we fought, the worse it got.

Each time one of them died, the dark energy spread further. We lost entire cities… entire regions to the darkness. We barely managed to defeat the ones who returned.”

His voice dropped to a whisper. ”But… it hasnʼt stopped. Even after we destroyed them all, the dark energy kept spreading. The cracks… the fissures… theyʼre growing. Every day, they grow wider.”

The silence that followed was suffocating. Gustav stood motionless, his eyes darkened with thought. He had seen many battles, many threats, but this… this was different.

This was the result of desperation, of a plan that had gone horribly wrong. They had tried to fight the darkness head-on, but in doing so, they had brought that very darkness back with them.

Endric stepped forward. ”So the dark energy… itʼs still spreading. And the cracks in space?”

Yuren nodded grimly. ”We donʼt know whatʼs causing them, but they appeared shortly after the corrupted soldiers returned. And theyʼre still there, even though the soldiers are gone. Weʼve tried everything to contain them, but… nothing works.”

Gustav let out a slow breath, his expression hardening as he looked at the cracks and fissures that marred the landscape.

”I need to get a closer look.”

...

...

In another location, the ground was shaking, and the air was thick with the corrosive presence of dark mist erupting from the spreading fissures.

These fissures cracked open like jagged scars on the earth, seeping a foul, deathly mist that corroded everything in its path—buildings, trees, even the very ground itself. It was a scene of chaos and destruction.

But in the midst of this chaos, a flash of pink and silver streaked through the area like a comet.

The blur of motion came to an abrupt stop for just a second, revealing Angy with silver and pink hair, who sported two unicorn-like horns protruding from her forehead.

Her eyes glowed and before anyone could follow, she was off again, moving faster than the human eye could track.

She darted from one endangered building to another, picking up people as if they weighed nothing and whisking them away to safety.

Ten thousand people... That was the number of lives Angy had saved within mere seconds.

In each sweep, she pulled more people out of the collapsing area and the dark mist was unable to touch her. Her movements were flawless, as if she could anticipate the next collapse even before it happened.

A group of children, huddled together and watching in awe as Angy zipped by, began to cheer in excitement. ”Look! Itʼs Speed Goddess Angy!” one of them shouted. His voice was filled with admiration. ”Sheʼs saving everyone! Sheʼs a real superhero!”

”Sheʼs like lightning!” another child chimed in. ”Faster than anyone in the whole world!”

The kids werenʼt wrong. This wasnʼt the first time Angy had been seen performing such miraculous feats.

Her reputation had spread far and wide since this whole incident began, cementing her as one of the most beloved and awe-inspiring figures among the younger generation. The younger ones called her Speed Goddess Angy.

Finally, as the area cleared and the last person was safely transported to an evacuation zone, Angy slowed down, taking a deep breath.

A satisfied smile tugged at her lips. She surveyed the scene—crumbling buildings, fissures spitting dark mist, but no casualties.

Her super speed had ensured that every person was safe, even in the face of such overwhelming destruction.

Just as Angy came to a halt, MBO officers arrived on the scene. Their ash uniforms were dusted with debris, and their faces were drawn with tension.

They had expected to find people trapped or injured, but instead, they found Angy standing calmly amidst the wreckage.

One of the officers, a young man with a deep gash across his cheek, rushed up to her, breathless. ”Angy… you… you saved everyone?”

Angy gave him a humble smile, pushing a lock of pink-silver hair behind her ear. ”Yeah. Fortunately I was quick enough.”

The officerʼs eyes were filled with gratitude. ”Youʼre amazing. Thank you.” He glanced at his comrades, all of whom were nodding in agreement. ”I donʼt think we could have handled this as fast as you did.”

Angy shrugged. ”Itʼs my job too. Remember, Iʼm an MBO officer as well. Weʼre all in this together.”

Just as the officers were about to respond, a faint beep echoed from behind their ears. The communication devices they all wore—tiny buttons attached just behind their left ears—had come to life. A voice came through, crackling with static but clear enough to understand.

”All MBO officers, Gustav Crimson has returned. He is currently on site near the eastern fissures inspecting...”

The moment the name Gustav Crimson was mentioned, Angyʼs eyes lit up with excitement. She turned to the nearest officer, her face bright with enthusiasm. ”Gustavʼs back? Are you serious?”

The officer nodded. ”Yeah, it looks like heʼs inspecting one of the fissures. Weʼve been getting reports all day that heʼs back on Earth.”

Angyʼs heart raced faster than her legs ever could. His sudden reappearance after being gone for months felt like a beacon of hope.

”Where is he now? Whatʼs his location?” Angy asked eagerly, already preparing to leave.

”Heʼs in the Rain City, near the largest fissure,” the officer replied, checking his communication device. ”Itʼs several cities away.”

That was all Angy needed to hear. ”Thanks!” she shouted, and before anyone could respond, she took off in a flash of pink and silver, the wind howling in her wake. She was gone in an instant, racing toward Gustavʼs location.

---

Meanwhile, Gustav stood at the edge of a massive dark fissure. The ground beneath him trembled slightly, and the air was thick with the toxic presence of the dark mist. He crouched low, running his fingers just above the fissure, studying the ominous cracks that spread outward like a web of doom.

”The seal has weakened even more,” Gustav muttered to himself, his brow furrowed in deep thought. He could feel it in the air—the faint but unmistakable pulse of energy coming from the fissures. ”Nocturnis… Heʼs gaining more hold on the mortal plane.”

Behind him, a group of MBO officers stood at a respectful distance, their faces pale with fear. One of the older officers, a veteran named Officer Raine, stepped forward cautiously.

”Sir… you shouldnʼt get too close,” Raine said with a worried tone. ”The mist… itʼs highly corruptive. Weʼve already lost several officers to exposure.”

Gustav, still focused on the fissure, didnʼt move. ”Iʼm not worried about that,” he replied calmly. ”This corruption… itʼs tied to Nocturnis. The closer I get, the more I can understand how far heʼs stretched his influence.”

Officer Raine looked troubled but didnʼt argue further. He had heard stories of Gustavʼs resilience and power, and he wasnʼt about to question the Outworldlyʼs judgment.

As Gustav continued to examine the fissure, memories began to resurface. He recalled the moment when he had peered into the mind of the Death Angel. At the time, the vision had been chaotic, fragmented, but now everything was starting to fall into place. The person he had seen—the one who triggered the chain of events—wasnʼt just any ordinary soldier.

It all made sense now.

Gustav stood with a look of realization. The person in the Death Angelʼs memories… they were one of the soldiers who had returned from the portal—corrupted by the dark plane.

Thatʼs why the crack that swallowed up the sword gave off the same vibes coming from the fissures.

That was why the dark energy was spreading so rapidly. Whoever that person was, they were being manipulated, controlled by Nocturnis to do his bidding here in the mortal realm.

”Heʼs using them,” Gustav muttered to himself.

Officer Raine, overhearing the statement, stepped closer. ”Whoʼs using who, sir?”

Gustav turned to him, his face grave. ”Nocturnis. Heʼs found a way to use one of the soldiers who returned from the dark plane. Someone whoʼs been fully corrupted. Theyʼre acting as his agent here on this plane.”

Raineʼs eyes widened in alarm. ”But… how is that possible?”

Gustav clenched his fists. ”Heʼs still sealed, but the barrier is weakening. With every fissure, with every crack in the fabric of reality, his influence grows. If we donʼt stop this, itʼs only a matter of time before the seal gets broken completely even if the premonitions are not complete. He might not even need to continue with that.”

Just as the gravity of the situation began to settle in, a familiar gust of wind blew past them, and in an instant, Angy appeared by Gustavʼs side, her face glowing with excitement. She skidded to a halt, her hair fluttering in the wind, and looked up at Gustav with wide, sparkling eyes.

”Gustav!” she exclaimed, breathless from both her speed and the excitement of seeing him again. ”Youʼre really back!”

Gustav looked down at Angy, a small, almost imperceptible smile tugging at the corner of his lips. ”Angy. Itʼs been a while.”
