The Overseerʼs expression remained placid, but there was a hint of contemplation in their eyes. ”Be careful, Selara. The balance of power is a delicate thing. If the minor deityʼs plans are not executed with precision, it could bring chaos beyond even our control.”

Selara nodded, her eyes narrowing with determination. ”I understand, Father. But sometimes, change requires a little chaos.”

The Outworldly soon returned to earth as Elias and continued to live among humans, but he had left a part of himself up there.

His senses were always attuned to the cosmos. Though his astral form had not discovered the hidden gathering of the deities, he remained vigilant. Something was off, and he could feel it like a distant tremor on the edge of his consciousness.

The feeling of impending doom had settled heavily in the Outworldlyʼs consciousness. His senses, usually clear and expansive, now felt clouded with a dense fog of uncertainty.

Something was brewing beneath the surface of the cosmos—something he could not yet fully grasp, but he could feel it pressing against his omniscience like a storm building on the horizon.

His visits to Earth, which once brought him peace and a connection to the simplicity of mortal life, became less frequent.

When he did return, his mind was often distant, his thoughts filled with the unknown threat looming over him. His demeanor did not go unnoticed.

One evening, as Elias stood on the balcony of Oslovʼs grand ancient estate, Oslov approached him. ”Elias,” he said, his tone gentle but concerned. ”Youʼve been distracted lately. Youʼre here, but itʼs like your mind is somewhere else entirely. What troubles you, my friend?”

Elias, keeping his face composed, turned to his friend with a faint smile. ”Just the weight of...things, Oslov. You know how it is—sometimes, the mind is burdened with concerns that it cannot easily shake.”

Oslov chuckled, though his eyes were searching. ”Youʼre always so vague. It must be quite the burden, whatever it is. If you ever feel like sharing, you know Iʼm here.”

Elias nodded appreciatively. ”I know, Oslov. And I thank you for that. But some things are best left unspoken, for now.”

While he appreciated his friendʼs concern, Elias—his true self as the Outworldly—could not share the reality of his thoughts.

He knew something was wrong somewhere, and he began making secret preparations. He had always been cautious, but now he fortified his domains, weaving new threads of protection and strength throughout the universe.

His cosmic awareness remained on high alert, always scanning for any signs of unusual activity among the deities.

One day, while he was on Earth, Elias sensed a disturbance—a ripple in the fabric of reality that caught his attention like a spark in the dark. His expression shifted, eyes narrowing as he felt the presence of a familiar energy near his dimension.

”I have to go,” he muttered to himself, his form shimmering and vanishing from the earthly plane.

He reappeared before his dimension, floating amidst the vast, swirling energy of the cosmic realm.

The sight that greeted him was unexpected. Standing there, with an air of calm and readiness, was the humanoid deity. His serene expression hid the tension that crackled in the space between them.

”Minor Deity,” the Outworldly greeted as his voice resonated across the emptiness. ”What brings you here?”

The humanoid deityʼs eyes gleamed amusement. ”Outworldly,” he replied, inclining his head slightly. ”I thought Iʼd pay a visit. Itʼs been a while, hasnʼt it?”

The Outworldlyʼs senses sharpened, piercing through the layers of pretense. Something was off... There was hidden intent that spoke volumes.

His gaze bore into the humanoid deity, and without further pleasantries, he asked, ”How long have you been plotting against me?”

The humanoid deity raised an eyebrow, genuinely taken aback for a moment before a slow smile spread across his face. ”You truly are perceptive,” he said, a hint of admiration in his tone. ”I suppose it was only a matter of time before you sensed it. But alas, youʼre too late. Whatʼs in motion cannot be stopped.”

The Outworldlyʼs form blazed with cosmic light as his eyes narrowed. ”Why are you doing this?”

The humanoid deityʼs smile faded, replaced by a more serious expression. ”Why? Because only you get to go and come as you please,” he said, his voice gaining an edge. ”Youʼve treated us, the deities, unfairly. Youʼve bound us with your laws, and weʼve had enough. I decided it was time to take matters into my own hands.”

The Outworldlyʼs gaze remained steady, his voice calm yet firm. ”Thatʼs not the true reason,” he said. ”Tell me why youʼre really doing this.”

For a moment, the humanoid deity stared back at him, and then his lips curled into a knowing smirk. ”Ah, always so insightful,” he said slowly. ”Very well. The truth is, this has always been my plan. I created you, Outworldly, only so that I could become you.”

The revelation hit like a blow, but the Outworldlyʼs expression did not falter. ”Thatʼs impossible,” he countered, his voice vibrating with power. ”I was created to bring balance, not to be usurped.”

Suddenly, a wave of knowledge washed over him, a realization that sent a shock through his being.

The cosmic puzzle pieces began to fall into place. His thoughts raced back to every act of kindness the humanoid deity had shown the mortals, every moment of apparent selflessness. It was all a ploy.

”You needed the mortalsʼ reverence,” the Outworldly muttered as the truth dawned on him. ”You didnʼt care about their destruction or the toll the battles took on them. You needed them to worship you—to see you as their savior.”

The humanoid deityʼs smile widened, a gleam of triumph in his eyes. ”Exactly,” he confirmed. ”The reverence of mortals is a powerful force. For my plan to work, I needed enough mortal worlds to revere me in their times of need. It had to be substantial. And I needed the majority of the deities to support me, willingly or not.”

His voice grew more confident, his aura swelling with a new sense of power. ”Now that I have met all the requirements,” he continued, ”I can perform the ritual to take the Outworldly power for myself. I have always desired to rule over the gods and deities. Now, that dream will come to fruition.”

The Outworldlyʼs form flared with intense, radiant energy, his patience wearing thin. ”You will not succeed,” he declared, raising his hand, preparing to snuff the humanoid deity out of existence.

But before he could strike, a sudden force gripped him—a string of cosmic seals, invisible yet unyielding, wrapped around his being. The seals shimmered with an ancient power, locking him in place.

The Outworldlyʼs eyes widened in shock as he struggled against the binds, but they held firm, binding his powers. ”What is this?” he roared, his voice echoing through the cosmos.

The humanoid deity watched with a look of smug satisfaction. ”Ah, the seals,” he said casually. ”Forged from the reverence of countless mortals and the support of the deities. You see, Outworldly, you are not omnipotent. You are bound by the laws of creation, just like the rest of us. And now, those laws are turning against you.”

The Outworldly could feel the cosmic seals tightening around him, constricting his ability to tap into his full power. His form flickered, his celestial light dimming as the seals continued to bind him. He looked around, searching for a way to break free.

”I cannot let you cannot do this,” the Outworldly with a strained but resolute tone. ”The balance must be maintained.”

The humanoid deity chuckled softly, shaking his head. ”Balance? What is balance but a restriction? A shackle? I will bring a new order—an era where the deities are free to rule without limitation, where the cosmos bends to my will. I will be the one above all.”

The Outworldlyʼs eyes blazed with fury. ”You betray everything you stood for,” he said in disappointment. ”A being such as yourself doesnʼt deserve to exist.”

”I betray nothing,” the humanoid deity retorted while inching closer with his eyes locked on the Outworldlyʼs. ”I have simply chosen a different path. One where I am no longer a mere servant to balance but the master of it.”

The seals continued to tighten, and the Outworldly could feel his strength waning. ”This will not end the way you think,” he warned, his voice filled with defiance. ”I will give you the chance to put a stop to it now before chaos unfolds.”

The humanoid deityʼs smile faded as his expression turned cold. ”That is a risk I am willing to take.”

With a wave of his hand, the cosmic seals pulsed with a blinding light, and the Outworldly felt his consciousness begin to fragment.

His connection to the cosmos began to flicker. The seals were not just binding his power—they were severing him from his very essence.

ʼI should have known...ʼ
