Ria quickly rose as well; ”Rival! Is that really you?!” His eyes were widened in disbelief while Gustav stood between them and the monstrous entity.

Wilendor grunted while getting to his knees in disbelief. ”I was starting to think we were done for. Thank you, great Outworldly.”

Gustav didnʼt look back at them. His eyes remained locked on the creature, his hand still raised as reddish pink strands of cosmic energy crackled around him. ”Youʼre not done for yet,” he said quietly. ”But this thing is.”

With another gesture, Gustav unleashed a torrent of energy, this time even more powerful than before. The creature let out a distorted howl as the energy tore through it, ripping its body apart at the molecular level.

Gustav lowered his hand, the glow around him fading slightly as he turned to face Endric, Ria, and Wilendor. There was a calmness in his eyes, but also a deep, unspoken understanding that the battle was far from over.

”Letʼs get that sword,” Gustav said simply. ”And get out of here.”

However, he felt movement behind him and turned around. The creature had began to repair itself.

Gustav floated in mid air and clapped.

Boom!

It was like an explosion went off as a powerful wave was discharged that ripped the being to shreds before it could completely form.

Unfortunately, fragments of the being began to find themselves once more.

Tension filled the air as Gustav hovered over the battlefield, his eyes fixed on the massive, towering being that had begun to repair itself once again.

The creatureʼs body shimmered and pulsated with energy, the cracks in its form knitting back together in an endless cycle of regeneration. Gustav could feel the force of the beingʼs will as it tried to piece itself back, undeterred by the destruction he had just unleashed.

He let out a slightly frustrated breath as his brows knitted together and he realized the futility of continuing his attack. ʼThis thing… it wonʼt stop repairing itself. If I keep fighting it, itʼll just keep coming back.ʼ

Gustavʼs body crackled with energy as he floated midair with a faint glow of cosmic power swirling around him.

He clenched his fists, feeling the surge of Cosmic Superior energy build up within him. The power coursed through his veins like fire, but it wasnʼt enough to finish this. Not yet.

”I need to do something different,” Gustav muttered under his breath.

In the next instant, Gustav unleashed a wave of Cosmic Superior energy from his body.

The air rippled with force as the energy spread across the entire battlefield, and in an instant, every living thing on this world came to a complete stop.

The once relentless spiritual guardians, the wind, even the monstrous entity that had just been regenerating—it all paused, frozen in place by the sheer graze of Gustavʼs power.

Endric, Ria, and Wilendor, who had been preparing for yet another attack, stood still as well, staring in awe at the sudden silence.

The towering creature, still repairing itself, came to a halt, its massive form suspended mid-motion.

Gustavʼs eyes flickered with a soft glow as he turned his attention toward the massive sword, the one buried deep into the ground and towering far above them.

The sword, which had resisted all efforts to be moved before, now pulsed with a faint light. It was as if the sword sensed Gustavʼs presence—its true owner—and was calling out to him.

The ground beneath him trembled slightly as Gustav flew forward consciously toward the sword.

The swordʼs glow intensified with each step he took, the energy around it radiating in welcome. And as he grew closer, the sense of connection between him and the ancient weapon only deepened.

Endric, watching from a distance in anticipation. ”Heʼs going to do it,” he whispered excitedly. ”Heʼs going to claim it.”

Ria nodded in awe. ”Itʼs responding to him.”

But just as Gustavʼs hand stretched out, inches away from the swordʼs hilt, the air around them suddenly shifted. The sky darkened, and a deep, ominous rumble echoed through the air.

Without warning, a dark crack appeared in mid-air. The crack pulsed with a sickening, shadowy energy, and from within its depths emerged a terrifying figure—a charred humanoid-shaped being with horns that curled menacingly from its head and massive, bat-like wings that flapped slowly as it descended.

The creature was twice the size of a human, its skin cracked and blackened like burnt ash, and its eyes… its eyes were hollow voids, empty and lifeless, yet filled with the promise of death.

Gustavʼs eyes narrowed as he recognized what stood before him. A Death Angel. Its presence here meant only one thing: something was seriously wrong.

The Death Angel wasted no time. It let out a deep, hollow roar, and without hesitation, it launched itself at Gustav with terrifying speed.

It cut through the air like a dark blade, its ash-covered wings beating furiously as it aimed for him.

Gustav barely had time to react, throwing up his hands as the Death Angelʼs claws raked through the air where he had been standing moments before.

He dodged to the side, his body twisting in midair as he unleashed a burst of energy toward the creature. The blast hit the Death Angel squarely in the chest, sending it careening backward, but it barely slowed.

The Death Angel righted itself almost instantly, hovering just above the ground with its hollow eyes fixed on Gustav. It seemed unaffected by the Cosmic Superior energy that had frozen everything else.

Gustav eyes gleamed with calculating coldness as he sensed something was wrong.

”Something is different,” Gustav muttered. ”It should still be bound by the laws, but this thing... itʼs unaffected.”

Endric watched from the distance in disbelief. ”Thatʼs a Death Angel,” he whispered. ”How did it get here? It was sealed on Earth!”

Ria shook his head in confusion as well. ”This place is lightyears away from Earth. How could it—?”

Gustavʼs thoughts mirrored theirs as he clashed with the Death Angel. ʼHow did this thing get here? It was captured and imprisoned on Earth.ʼ

The Death Angel struck again, its clawed hand slicing through the air with unparalleled sharpness. Gustav narrowly dodged, summoning his abilities in a rapid sequence.

His hands glowed with a milky light as he called used atomic disintegration, sending a concentrated beam of energy toward the creature.

The beam hit its target, and for a moment, the Death Angelʼs form wavered. Itʼs ash-like skin crumbled at the edges as a hole was burrowed through it.

But even as Gustav struck it, the creatureʼs form reassembled itself, the ash pulling back together with unnatural ease.

The Death Angel roared again, its hollow eyes glowing faintly as it unleashed a wave of dark energy. The blast caught Gustav off guard, slamming into him with the force of ten collapsing stars, sending him crashing into the ground below.

Gustav groaned while pushing himself to his feet, his body glowing faintly from the impact. His mind raced. ʼItʼs more powerful than it should be. Somethingʼs empowering it to use more than itʼs limit in this plane.ʼ

The Death Angel hovered above, its wings spread wide, casting a shadow over Gustav.

It didnʼt need words to communicate its intent. It was here to stop him, to prevent him from claiming the sword. And no matter what Gustav threw at it, the Death Angel couldnʼt die.

It was a servant of Nocturnis, bound to a higher plane of existence that granted it immunity from death in the conventional sense.

”You canʼt be killed,” Gustav muttered. ”But you can be trapped.”

The Death Angel dove toward him again, its claws outstretched, ready to strike. Gustavʼs eyes glowed with a reddish-pinkish light, and with a quick motion, he drew symbols in the air. The symbols glowed with a brilliant red light, forming intricate patterns that pulsed with power.

”Enough,” Gustav growled, his voice low and dangerous.

With a sharp gesture, a glowing red cross appeared in the sky above them. It descended rapidly, piercing the Death Angel through its chest and locking itʼs body in place as the cross continued downwards, stabbing into the ground below.

The force of the cross pinned the Death Angel in place, trapping it where it stood, its wings flailing as it tried to free itself.

”Stay there,” Gustav muttered while waving his hand as a large burst of wind surged forward, dispersing the dark mist that had surrounded the massive sword.

Endric, Ria, and Wilendor watched in stunned silence as Gustav approached the sword once more.

The Death Angel, now trapped beneath the glowing red cross, let out a hollow scream, but it was powerless to stop him.

Gustav reached out, his hand inches from the swordʼs hilt. He could feel the power radiating from it, calling to him, urging him to take it.

But just as his fingers were about to touch the enormous hilt, a sudden crack split the air. The darkness swirled violently, and before anyone could react, the sword began to shimmer.

”No!” Gustav shouted, reaching for it.

But it was too late. The sword was swallowed up by the crack. Itʼs massive form alongside a half of this world surface was pulled into the void in the blink of an eye.
