Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Chapter 297: Chapter 261: A Mountain of Cash Rewards

The Ghost Hunting Academy buzzed with excitement when everyone learned the Chairman was visiting personally. They promptly hung red welcome banners. Amidst the loud crackle of firecrackers and the clamor of drums and gongs, the Chairman’s Mercedes, followed by ten large trucks, arrived in succession. As the new Dean, Zhao Rong represented the Ghost Hunting Academy to welcome the Chairman’s inspection.

Amidst a wave of cheers, the Chairman stepped out of the Mercedes. Zhao Rong, accompanied by Lili, Yu Lan, Xue Lianmei, and his assistant, hurried forward to greet him.

Upon getting out of the car, the Chairman’s eyes immediately fell on Zhao Rong. He extended his right hand and walked over with a broad smile.

After shaking hands, Zhao Rong expressed his gratitude, saying, ”Thank you, Chairman, for taking time out of your busy schedule to personally visit the Ghost Hunting Academy for an inspection.”

The Chairman, holding a cigar in his left hand, gripped Zhao Rong’s hand with his right. Looking at him with admiration, he said, ”Young man, keep up the good work. Given your outstanding abilities and excellent performance, I’m going to focus on nurturing you from now on.”

Hearing the Chairman’s praise, Zhao Rong replied modestly, ”You flatter me, Chairman. I was just like a blind cat stumbling upon a dead mouse—purely a matter of luck.”

Just then, Lili came forward and pouted in her father’s arms. ”Daddy, you came all this way, and the first person you talk to isn’t me, but Zhao Rong?”

Seeing his daughter’s pout, the Chairman embraced her, patting her back with a laugh. ”You’re my only daughter. How could I not dote on you and love you? But Zhao Rong is my right-hand man. He’s not only the bodyguard for you three beauties, but also my future son-in-law.”

Hearing her father refer to Zhao Rong as his future son-in-law, Lili let out a happy laugh before pretending to be reluctant. ”Daddy, how could you say that? You didn’t even get my consent! I might not even want Zhao Rong, you know.”

Hearing this, Yu Lan and Xue Lianmei, who were standing behind them, immediately stepped forward to tease her. ”If you don’t want Zhao Rong, then we certainly won’t hesitate to take your place!”

When the Chairman saw the three beauties bickering over Zhao Rong, he joked, ”Ladies, since you like him so much, you should all just immigrate to Saudi Arabia. The law there allows a man to have four wives.”

At the Chairman’s words, Yu Lan and Xue Lianmei’s faces blossomed into radiant smiles.

Lili, Yu Lan, and Xue Lianmei all came from extremely wealthy families. Yu Lan’s father was the top real estate developer in Xijing City. Xue Lianmei’s father was a financial magnate who had founded the Bridgewater Fund. Even so, their circumstances couldn’t compare to Lili’s. Therefore, when they heard they could immigrate to Saudi Arabia and marry Zhao Rong together, their hearts bloomed with joy.

At that moment, the Chairman instructed the female secretary beside him, ”Inform the men at the back to unload all the cash from those four large trucks. Pile it up in front of the Ghost Hunting Academy to form a mountain of money. I want to reward Zhao Rong generously in front of everyone.”

At his words, the secretary immediately went to the back to give the orders.

When Zhao Rong heard that the Chairman was making such a grand spectacle to reward him, he was flattered and politely tried to refuse. ”Chairman, protecting your daughter and working for you is my duty. After all, you pay me a salary. As for this extravagant reward, I think we should skip it. You can save it to reward other company employees in the future.”

The Chairman waved his hand, insisting on giving the money to Zhao Rong. ”Zhao Rong, to be honest, when I first saw you at the Pursuing Girls Company, I wasn’t impressed.

”Back then, I just thought you were an ordinary migrant worker. I never imagined you would accomplish a task at the Pursuing Girls Company that others deemed impossible, perfectly snatching my daughter from the hands of Killer King Wang Jingang.

”And after you became my daughter’s bodyguard, you served her diligently, overcoming every obstacle to protect her perfectly. While doing so, you also became the Sect Leader of the True Martial Sect, the Chancellor of Xijing University, and the Dean of the Ghost Hunting Academy.

”All of this might seem like a coincidence, or that it came easily, but who knows how much effort and hardship you secretly endured... I admire young people like you—capable, powerful, and responsible, a man who dares to act and take ownership of his actions.”

Hearing the Chairman praise him so highly, Zhao Rong blushed. Behind all these successes, I really didn’t put in that much effort. If I can be called successful, it can only be because of good fortune and a bit of luck.

Thus, Zhao Rong humbly said to the Chairman, ”Actually, I haven’t worked that hard; it was all fated. Most importantly, I must thank you, Chairman, for your guidance, trust, rewards, and motivation.”

The Chairman stepped forward, clapped Zhao Rong on the shoulder, and gave him a thumbs-up. ”Zhao Rong, I truly admire you. You’re an excellent, incredible, and formidable man. Now, please, look behind you.”

Hearing this, Zhao Rong immediately turned around. When he saw the mountain of cash piled up behind him, he was so astonished he stood there, speechless. Zhao Rong had never seen so much cash in his entire life.

He glanced worriedly at the sky and said to the Chairman, ”Chairman, you should really put this money away as soon as possible. What if a strong wind picks up, or it starts to pour? Wouldn’t all this cash be wasted?”

The thousands of students from the Ghost Hunting Academy stared, dumbfounded. Seeing the Chairman arrive with so much cash and have it piled up at the academy entrance sent murmurs of amazement rippling through the crowd.

One student, his eyes red with envy, exclaimed, ”The Chairman’s Hongda Company is unbelievably rich! For our Ghost Hunting Academy to be acquired by them... it’s like a pie fell from the sky!”

Another student, who looked like he was about to rush forward and stuff his pockets with cash, said emotionally, ”To work for the Chairman, to become an employee of Hongda Company... the financial prospects are limitless!”

A small group of female students chattered among themselves. ”Zhao Rong coming to our Ghost Hunting Academy is a blessing from our past lives! If he hadn’t come, Hongda Company would never have acquired us, and we’d never have gotten to feast our eyes on so much cash!”

While everyone was caught in a mixture of shock, awe, admiration, delight, and greed, the Chairman pointed to the mountain of cash and said to Zhao Rong, ”Zhao Rong, this cash is a reward for your outstanding performance. Please accept it.”

Seeing the one billion in cash before him, Zhao Rong felt as though he were dreaming. He looked at the Chairman and asked, ”Chairman, just how much money do you make from your business? Are you sure all this cash is just for me?”

The Chairman replied with unwavering certainty, ”Rest assured and accept it. Hongda Company’s annual turnover is in the trillions. Compared to our total revenue, which runs into the tens of trillions, this amount of money is just a drop in the bucket.”

Seeing Zhao Rong still hesitating, Lili stepped forward and gave him a gentle push. Pointing to the Magic Ring on his hand, she said, ”Zhao Rong, just take the money my father is giving you.”

Yu Lan also came forward to persuade him. ”Zhao Rong, I know a man as incredible as you plans to start his own business someday. Starting a business requires capital. Just take this reward as the startup fund for your future venture.”

Xue Lianmei went a step further, goading him. ”Zhao Rong, aren’t we all supposed to be immigrating to Saudi Arabia in the future? You’ll have to build a villa, not to mention cover all the living expenses for us and the children. That’s going to cost a fortune.”

After the three beauties had been persuading him for a while, his assistant also ran up. He grabbed a stack of cash, stuffed it into his pants, and said, ”Big Brother Zhao Rong, just take the cash! I know you don’t care about money, that you even hate the stench of it. But you can let me spend it! You know I love visiting all sorts of clubs and bathhouses... and those places are incredibly expensive!”

Hearing this, the three beauties immediately rained insults down on him. ”Assistant, you’re a scoundrel, a lecher, and a complete degenerate! Of all the places to spend money, you choose clubs and bathhouses?”

At last, after being coaxed by everyone for so long, Zhao Rong finally activated the Magic Ring on his hand. Before accepting the massive sum, he looked at the Chairman one last time. ”Chairman, are you certain this money is my reward?”

The Chairman looked at Zhao Rong with a kind, warm smile. ”Yes, Zhao Rong, this money is your reward. And the reason I’m giving you so much is that there’s another important mission I need you to complete.”

By now, Zhao Rong had grown to enjoy not only protecting the three beauties and being a bodyguard, but also completing the various missions the Chairman assigned him. As he began storing the mountain of cash into his Magic Ring, he looked at the Chairman and said, ”Whatever the mission, just give the word. I will perfectly complete any task you give me.”

As the words left his mouth, Zhao Rong looked at the one billion in cash and couldn’t help but wonder. What kind of mission could it be? What could possibly be worth one billion in cash?

Just as Zhao Rong was puzzling over this, the Chairman’s voice boomed with sudden passion.

”More than two thousand years ago, the Crown Prince of Yan sent Jing Ke to assassinate the King of Qin... Two thousand years later, I, the Chairman, am sending Zhao Rong to...”
