Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

A man and a woman were alone in a dark corner of the school’s athletic field.

Just as Zhao Rong was preparing for the woman’s performance, Wang Meili suddenly emerged from the library. She was heading back to her dormitory and happened to pass by the field. When she saw Zhao Rong standing while the woman knelt before him, she immediately threw the books in her hand to the ground, charged over, and shouted, ”You lecher, let that woman go!”

Upon hearing Wang Meili’s voice, Zhao Rong spun his head around. But when the charging Wang Meili saw that the ”lecher” she was yelling at was actually Brother Zhao Rong, she was instantly stunned. Her mouth fell open. She looked at Zhao Rong, then at the kneeling woman, and exclaimed in surprise, ”Brother Zhao Rong, what are you two doing here?”

Seeing Wang Meili’s sudden appearance, Zhao Rong said awkwardly, ”It’s nothing. This woman said she wanted to perform for me by eating a lollipop, so I was just letting her show me…”

Hearing Zhao Rong’s explanation, Wang Meili helped the woman to her feet while asking him, ”Brother Zhao Rong, what’s so interesting about watching someone eat a lollipop?”

Zhao Rong explained, ”Meili, you’re still a girl, not a woman. You wouldn’t understand. Someday, when you turn from a girl into a woman, maybe you’ll understand why men like to watch women eat lollipops…”

At that moment, seeing that someone had come to her rescue, the woman immediately threw the lollipop away, spat out what was in her mouth, and fled like a rabbit.

Watching the woman run off, Wang Meili thought for a moment and then asked, ”Brother Zhao Rong, was that beautiful woman just now trying to seduce you?”

Hearing this, Zhao Rong quickly seized the opportunity to save face. ”Meili, you’re brilliant! Not only did you guess correctly, but you also arrived in the nick of time to foil an earth-shattering plot to seduce a man.”

Listening to Zhao Rong, Wang Meili laughed. ”Brother Zhao Rong, you’re hilarious.”

After chatting for a while, they walked over to a grassy area beside the field. Once they sat down, Zhao Rong finally spoke.

He looked at Wang Meili and said, ”Meili, I want you to take over my position and become the president of Xijing University.”

Hearing the seemingly omnipotent Brother Zhao Rong ask her to become the president, Wang Meili immediately and tactfully refused, ”Brother Zhao Rong, why would a capable man like you ask me to be the president?”

Looking at her astonished expression, Zhao Rong explained, ”Meili, the reason I want you to take over as the president of Xijing University is because I’m leaving.”

Hearing that Zhao Rong was leaving, Wang Meili felt a pang of sadness, but she held back her tears. ”Brother Zhao Rong, I know you’re an ambitious man. Since you want to spread your wings and chase higher goals, I, Wang Meili, can’t hold you back.”

As she spoke, she thought to herself, Brother Zhao Rong is the president of Xijing University. For him to leave, he must have found an even better university where he can become an even more impressive president.

And so, she asked, ”Brother Zhao Rong, as they say, ’water flows downhill, but people strive for higher places.’ What’s your next step? Are you heading to Harvard or Oxford to be president?”

Zhao Rong chuckled. ”Meili, I’m not going to be a president. I’m going to be a student.”

Hearing that he was going to be a student, Wang Meili thought, Even if he’s going to be a student, Brother Zhao Rong must be attending some prestigious research institute or think tank.

So, she asked, ”Brother Zhao Rong, are you going to be a student at an MIT research institute or the RAND Corporation?”

Zhao Rong was taken aback. ”Meili, you’re giving me way too much credit. I’m not going to MIT, or Stanford, or the RAND Corporation…”

”Then where are you going to be a student?” Wang Meili asked in surprise.

”I’m going to be a student at the Ghost Hunting Academy in Wang Family Village,” Zhao Rong replied.

Hearing that this ambitious, diligent, and hardworking man was going to the Ghost Hunting Academy to learn how to hunt ghosts as a student was so shocking that Wang Meili, who had been sitting comfortably, fell right over onto the grass. She staggered back to her feet and stared at him. ”Brother Zhao Rong, are you sure? You’re giving up being the president of a famous school like Xijing University to go to the Ghost Hunting Academy in Wang Family Village as a student?”

Zhao Rong nodded. ”Yes, that’s right.”

Seeing Meili’s surprised expression, he thought to himself, Ah, she must be disappointed to hear that I’m going from being the president of a major university in a big city to a student at a village-run academy.

But to his surprise, Wang Meili said, ”Brother Zhao Rong, no matter what you decide to do, I support you. You were once the Sect Leader of the True Martial Gates, yet you willingly came to Xijing University to be a security guard. So, you can certainly go from being the president of Xijing University to being a student at the Ghost Hunting Academy. If you could rise from a security guard to president, then you can also rise from an ordinary ghost-hunting student to become the Dean of the Ghost Hunting Academy… Brother Zhao Rong, I, Wang Meili, believe in you. You can do it!”

With that, Wang Meili hugged Zhao Rong.

He was stunned. He hadn’t expected Meili to encourage him instead of pitying him. He hugged her back and said, ”Meili, after I leave, you must take on the role of president and manage Xijing University well.”

Suddenly, Wang Meili’s voice turned sad. ”Brother Zhao Rong, even if I become the president of Xijing University, it will only be temporary. This position will always be waiting for you to return.”

Her words sounded oddly familiar. It reminded him of when he had left the True Martial Gates, handing the position of Sect Leader over to Tao Hua. She had said something very similar.

*Brother Zhao Rong, even if I, Tao Hua, become the Sect Leader of the True Martial Gates, it will only be temporary. This position will always be waiting for you to return.*

Just then, Wang Meili spoke again. ”Brother Zhao Rong, you will always be the owner of Xijing University. You will always own one hundred percent of the shares. I, Wang Meili, am your person. I will follow your orders.”

Involuntarily, Zhao Rong thought of Tao Hua again. She had said the same thing to him.

Damn, he thought. Even though I left the True Martial Gates, I have Tao Hua managing it for me. Now, as I leave Xijing University, I’ll have Wang Meili managing it for me. I just get to sit back and reap the benefits. Without even realizing it, I’ve become the behind-the-scenes owner of both the True Martial Gates and Xijing University.

Zhao Rong suddenly recalled the last words Tao Hua had said to him when they parted: *Brother Zhao Rong, in life, I am your person; in death, I am your ghost. I will wait for you here…*

Before he could finish the thought, Wang Meili suddenly grabbed his hand and said with deep emotion, ”Brother Zhao Rong, I’ve had a secret crush on you ever since the day you saved me. So, no matter where you go, even to the ends of the earth, I, Wang Meili, in life am your person; in death, am your ghost. I will wait for you here.”

Her words moved him. He looked at Wang Meili, leaned in, and gently kissed her forehead. ”Meili, don’t worry. I’ll definitely come back to Xijing University to visit you when I have time.”

As he said this, he thought to himself, A place like the Ghost Hunting Academy must be located in some remote wilderness far from Xijing City. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to come back and see her.

Just then, Wang Meili pulled out her phone, opened Amap, and searched for the address of the Ghost Hunting Academy. The result was a complete shock.

Wang Family Village was right next to Xijing University. The Ghost Hunting Academy within it was just a stone’s throw away.

Wang Meili jumped to her feet. ”Brother Zhao Rong, I can’t believe the Ghost Hunting Academy is so close to our university!”

Even Zhao Rong was stunned. ”No way,” he said in disbelief. ”I thought ghost hunting had to happen out in some remote mountain or desolate place. I never imagined you could hunt ghosts in a bustling city. How bizarre.”

At this time, Hua Zi, who was embedded in Zhao Rong’s Daoist robe, suddenly spoke to him. ”What’s so strange about that? ’A great hermit hides in the city, while a lesser hermit hides in the wilds.’ Don’t you understand such a simple principle? In fact, cities are where you find the most ghosts.”

Hearing this, Zhao Rong exclaimed, ”Damn, really? That completely shatters my worldview.”

Hua Zi continued, ”Especially places like train stations, bus stations, shopping malls, and densely populated residential areas. Those are the places where the most ferocious ghosts gather.”

Zhao Rong gasped. ”Hua Zi, your words have once again blown my mind. I always thought ghosts were most common in remote wildernesses, isolated villages, graveyards, morgues, and crematoriums…”

Since only Zhao Rong could hear Hua Zi, Wang Meili just saw him talking to himself. She looked at him with concern. ”Brother Zhao Rong, it’s getting late, and you’re starting to talk nonsense. Let’s go. It’s time to head back to the dorm and get some sleep.”

Just then, Hua Zi suddenly told Zhao Rong, ”Actually, there’s only one place in this world with no ghosts: a bathhouse.”

Hearing this, Zhao Rong immediately declared, ”If there are no ghosts there, then I’m going to a bathhouse.”

When Wang Meili heard him say he was going to a bathhouse, she frowned. What’s gotten into Brother Zhao Rong? Why does he want to go to a bathhouse at this hour? The school’s bathhouses are probably all closed by now.

So, she said, ”Brother Zhao Rong, if you want to take a bath, you can just use the one in my dorm.”

At that moment, Hua Zi added, ”To keep ghosts from bothering you, just take a bath before sleeping. That will be enough.”

”Alright,” Zhao Rong replied decisively. ”I’ll take a bath and then go to sleep.”

When Wang Meili heard his words, she froze for a moment. What does he mean, ’take a bath and then go to sleep’? Is he leaving Xijing University tomorrow? Is that why he wants something to happen between us tonight? Is that why he keeps dropping hints about bathing and sleeping?

A knowing smile spread across her face. ”Brother Zhao Rong, actually, I want to take a bath with you, too. Let’s go to the bathroom in my dorm and bathe together.”

Feeling tired, Hua Zi said to Zhao Rong, ”I’m going to sleep. You should get to bed early, too.”

Zhao Rong nodded in response to Hua Zi. ”Okay, let’s go. Time to sleep.”

But when Wang Meili heard Zhao Rong say, ”Okay, let’s go,” right after her invitation to bathe together in her dorm, she felt so blissful she thought she might faint.

I’ve had a crush on him since the day we met, dreaming of when I could share a bed with Brother Zhao Rong and have him turn me from a girl into a woman. Today, that dream is finally coming true!

She took his hand and said, ”Brother Zhao Rong, since you’ve agreed, let’s go. We’ll take a bath at my place first, and then go to sleep…”

By the time Zhao Rong’s conversation with Hua Zi ended and he tuned back into his conversation with Wang Meili, he was completely stunned.

He thought, What’s going on? Meili is actually inviting me to her dorm to take a bath and then go to sleep?
