Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

In the dormitory, just as Zhao Rong had finally given up on fixing the water heater, Wang Meili suddenly discovered that it wasn’t broken at all; the circuit breaker had simply tripped. As soon as she flipped the switch by the bathroom door, the indicator light on the water heater blinked to life.

Seeing the water heater working, Wang Meili said excitedly, ”Zhao Rong, the water heater wasn’t broken, the circuit breaker just tripped...”

When Zhao Rong saw that the water heater he had been toiling over for half the day was fixed by Wang Meili’s simple flick of a switch, he was mortified. ”Ah, man... If I’d known all it took was flipping the breaker, we wouldn’t have wasted so much time.”

Wang Meili looked at the sweat-drenched Zhao Rong and comforted him. ”It’s alright. It’s not too late now that it’s fixed...”

Zhao Rong gazed at the beautiful Wang Meili before him. He swallowed hard, closed his eyes, and said, ”Meili, let’s start...”

Seeing Zhao Rong close his eyes, Wang Meili also closed hers and whispered back, ”Zhao Rong, let’s start...”

Just as the two were about to begin, the dormitory’s main door was kicked wide open by the combined force of three beautiful women. The moment the door flew open, Zhao Rong, who was standing right behind it, was knocked into the bathroom. He landed in front of the water heater, a screwdriver, pliers, a pipe wrench, and a spanner scattered by his hand.

When the three women charged into the dormitory, they saw Wang Meili standing alone by the door, staring at them, while Zhao Rong lay on the bathroom floor next to what looked like a dismantled water heater. Their eyes then fell upon the repair tools scattered beside Zhao Rong, and the truth dawned on them.

Lili stepped forward, grabbing Wang Meili’s hand. ”Meili, it seems we wronged you...”

Yu Lan also came forward to apologize. ”Meili, we thought you and Zhao Rong were... doing things in here. Turns out your water heater was just broken, and he came over specially to fix it?”

Xuelian stepped forward as well, explaining awkwardly, ”Meili, it’s all our fault. We were overthinking things and letting our imaginations run wild. You weren’t hooking up with Zhao Rong, you just asked him to fix your water heater...”

With that, the three women clenched their fists and glared in the direction of the assistant downstairs. ”Assistant, not only did you trick us out of our spicy strips, but you also deceived us and made us lose faith in Zhao Rong and Meili... A vile man like you... the three of us are going to beat you to a pulp!”

At that moment, Zhao Rong got to his feet. He rubbed the large bump on his head where the door had hit him, then looked at the three women and said, ”Ladies, you’re right. I, Zhao Rong, am an upstanding and righteous man. How could I possibly come here to... do *that* with Meili? Let me tell you the truth: Meili’s water heater was broken, so I came over specially to fix it for her.”

After speaking, he shot Wang Meili a sharp look, urging her to back him up.

Seeing Zhao Rong’s cue, Wang Meili immediately stepped forward. ”Please, don’t misunderstand. Zhao Rong really did come here to repair the water heater. If you don’t believe me, you can try it...” As the words left her mouth, she suddenly realized her slip of the tongue.

When Zhao Rong heard Wang Meili tell them to test it, he was dumbfounded. Didn’t you just flip the circuit breaker to prove the water heater works perfectly? Why are you now telling them to test it? Isn’t that just a dead giveaway?

At this, Lili walked toward the water heater in the bathroom. ”Since Meili asked me to test it, I’ll give it a try.”

As Zhao Rong watched Lili actually head over to check the water heater, his heart sank. It’s over. We’re definitely going to be exposed now. If they find out I came here to hook up with Wang Meili, I’m dead. It’ll be a fate worse than death.

Wang Meili’s face went pale with terror as she watched Lili approach the water heater. How could I be so stupid? Zhao Rong’s silver tongue had already gotten us out of this jam. But no, with my brilliant idea, I had to drag us right back into the fire.

Just as Zhao Rong and Wang Meili were steeling themselves for the inevitable, the assistant, working as the dorm manager on the first floor, had a sudden impulse. Zhao Rong must have been caught red-handed by those three by now. Why don’t I go up and join the fun? See the show?

So, the assistant dashed upstairs, laughing wildly to himself. Zhao Rong, so you finally fell into my hands! And you, Wang Meili! This is what you get for not buying me spicy strips. This is just the beginning of my revenge!

However, when the assistant reached the door, he was surprised to find Wang Meili’s dorm as calm as still water, with no sign of a fight. In disbelief, the assistant walked into the dorm and carefully inspected Zhao Rong’s face for any scratches from a woman’s nails. Seeing his skin was completely intact, the shocked assistant then turned to Wang Meili, looking for any marks from the other three women. But her face, too, was perfectly flawless.

The assistant wandered around the room and exclaimed in disbelief, ”This is impossible! You didn’t catch Zhao Rong in the act? This makes no sense!”

Just as the assistant stood there utterly perplexed, Lili leaped up, knocking him to the ground with a flying kick. ”Assistant!” she yelled, ”How dare you use Zhao Rong as a pretext to trick me out of my spicy strips? I’ll kill you!”

Lili had barely finished when Yu Lan jumped into the air, bringing an elbow down on the assistant.

”Assistant, you’re the one who made my heart pound today!

”You nearly gave me high blood pressure!

”You made me misjudge Zhao Rong...”

With that, Yu Lan slammed her elbow into the assistant’s back, making him cry out in pain.

Next, Xuelian performed a front flip and brought an axe kick down on the assistant, screaming, ”Assistant, you’ll pay in blood for this! For daring to frame our idol, Zhao Rong...”

When Zhao Rong and Wang Meili saw that the assistant was the one who had sold them out, they grabbed a washbasin and a clothes hanger and rushed toward him, ready to join the beating.

But just as Zhao Rong raised the washbasin to bring it down on the assistant, he received a WeChat message on his phone.

The message read:

”Zhao Rong, the Ghost Hunting Academy is starting its Hundred-Day Ghost Hunting Cleanup early tomorrow morning. You all must seize this opportunity and report to the Ghost Hunting Academy tonight... Remember, be careful of fierce ghosts on the way to the Ghost Hunting Academy tonight...”
