Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Zhao Rong looked at the ghost mother and child hiding in the corner of the house and immediately stood in front of them. ”As long as I, Zhao Rong, am here, I won’t let anyone who dares to kill you get away with it.”

Just then, Ghost-Hunting Instructor Sanyi arrived, leading a group of Ghost Hunting Academy students up the stairs. Upon reaching the second floor, he immediately grabbed a handful of cinnabar from his bag, scattered it into the air and onto the ground, and chanted, ”Cinnabar clears the way! Slay any ghost in our path!”

He then grabbed a handful of yellow rice and scattered it at his feet. ”Yellow rice forms the circle! No evil spirit will escape!”

With that, Instructor Sanyi took the lead and charged into Xuelian’s room. When he burst in and saw the ghost mother and child standing in the corner, he roared with laughter. ”Ghost mother and child! I, Ghost-Hunting Instructor Sanyi, have been searching for you for a long time. Finally, I’ve managed to trap you in this villa, like catching a turtle in a jar.”

As he spoke, he pulled a peach wood axe from his belt. By this time, the villa was already surrounded by mugwort, so the ghost mother and child had no way to escape.

Just as Ghost-Hunting Instructor Sanyi raised the peach wood axe to strike, Zhao Rong blocked his path. ”Instructor, can’t you first tell the good ghosts from the bad ones before you start killing?”

Hearing this, Instructor Sanyi stared at Zhao Rong, grinding his teeth in hatred. ”You little security guard, I still haven’t settled the score with you for beating me up at Xijing University the other day. Then last night, you knocked me out with a brick! And today, you’re getting in the way of my ghost hunting? I think you’re tired of living. Just you wait. I’ll settle all our scores, new and old, at once.”

After his tirade, Instructor Sanyi barked at Zhao Rong, ”Get out of my way, little security guard, or I won’t be so polite.”

Zhao Rong stood his ground. ”You want me to move? Fine. But you have to let these good ghosts go.”

Hearing this, a student standing behind the instructor stepped forward and berated Zhao Rong. ”You’re a new student who just got here, and you already dare to interfere with the Ghost Hunting Academy’s annual ghost-killing… er, ghost-catching cleanup?”

The arrogant student then moved to push Zhao Rong aside so the instructor could kill the ghost mother and child. Just as his hand touched Zhao Rong, Zhao Rong warned him, ”I’m warning you, don’t force my hand.”

The arrogant student laughed. ”Damn it, you idiot. You really think you can beat me? Do you even know where I used to train?”

Before he could finish his sentence, Zhao Rong executed a spinning back kick that sent him flying.

Seeing his student go airborne, Instructor Sanyi said angrily, ”Little security guard, your obstruction is a heinous and unforgivable crime!” With that, he snapped his fingers at a large man behind him. ”Fatty, get him! What are you waiting for?”

The man called Fatty immediately pulled a machete from his belt and charged forward, shouting, ”Zhao Rong, I’ll kill you, watch you turn into a ghost, then capture your soul and destroy it so you can never be reincarnated!”

Seeing that Fatty, a supposed ghost catcher, was actually carrying a machete, Zhao Rong scoffed, ”Fatty, it’s obvious you have no idea how to catch ghosts. Why are you carrying a machete?”

Zhao Rong’s mockery only enraged Fatty further. He brandished the weapon and swung directly at the ghost child. As he slashed, he bellowed, ”My machete can kill not only ghosts, but people too!”

Watching the glowing machete slice through the air, Zhao Rong dodged to the side and delivered a roundhouse kick that sent the weapon flying from Fatty’s hand. ”Fatty, you animal! You don’t have a shred of mercy in you. Today, I’ll teach you what compassion is.”

With that, Zhao Rong drove a vicious kick straight into Fatty’s stomach. As Zhao Rong was a level twenty-seven cultivator, the force of the blow sent Fatty flying through the air.

Seeing another one of their own so easily defeated, the disciples behind the instructor looked at Zhao Rong with newfound respect.

A student who was just tagging along murmured, ”How is this kid’s kung fu so good? If he’s this skilled, why did he come to the Ghost Hunting Academy to learn how to catch ghosts?”

A lazy, gluttonous student next to him added, ”The rest of us are here because we have no fighting skills, don’t like to cultivate, and can’t make it in the real world. We came to the Ghost Hunting Academy to learn a trade, hoping this skill will help us make a living. If my kung fu was half as good as that guy’s, I sure as hell wouldn’t be here learning to catch ghosts.”

When Ghost-Hunting Instructor Sanyi saw that both his disciples had been sent flying by Zhao Rong, he stepped forward himself. ”Kid, don’t get cocky just because you know a few clumsy moves. Now, I, Ghost-Hunting Instructor Sanyi, will show you what real power is!”

Saying this, the instructor pulled a talisman from his pocket, bit his finger, and dripped blood onto it. He thrust it toward Zhao Rong, chanting, ”Heed my command with haste! Freeze!”

The talisman was clearly for immobilization; if it touched someone, they would be frozen in place. Just as the talisman was about to make contact with Zhao Rong’s forehead, he leaped into the air with a flying kick, knocking it from the instructor’s hand.

Seeing his talisman kicked away, Sanyi pulled out another one. ”That last one was just a Prohibition Talisman, nothing special. This one is my most powerful. Zhao Rong, I’m going to give you a taste of a fate worse than death!”

He bit his finger again, dripped blood onto the new talisman, and shouted, ”Heed my command with haste! Laugh!”

It turned out that once this Laughing Talisman was placed on someone, they would be forced to laugh uncontrollably until they died. Faced with the instructor’s Laughing Talisman, Zhao Rong neither dodged nor resisted. He simply stood with his hands on his hips, calmly watching Sanyi approach to stick the talisman to his forehead.

When Ghost-Hunting Instructor Sanyi saw that Zhao Rong wasn’t even trying to get away, he laughed inwardly.

Little security guard, you idiot. This talisman is my trump card. Since you’re not dodging, I’ll stick it right on your forehead. You’ll laugh until you convulse, laugh until you have a seizure, laugh until you wish you were dead…

But before he could finish his thought, he felt something fall from above and stick to his own forehead.

Instantly, Ghost-Hunting Instructor Sanyi was frozen solid.

Zhao Rong looked at the talisman that had fluttered down from the air. ”Well, Ghost-Hunting Instructor, it must be your lucky day. The talisman I kicked away just fell from the sky and landed perfectly on your forehead. Now that you’re immobilized, let’s see you act so tough.”
